Great productivity Tool for SQL Development

5

My experience with dbForge SQL Complete has been really great. It has become an indispensable part of my daily work in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, greatly improving both speed and accuracy when writing and managing queries. The tool integrates seamlessly into my workflow and has never failed to be ready for the latest SSMS updates, which I highly value. Its intelligent features consistently save time and reduce errors, making my SQL development process far more efficient. The SQL query history feature saved me uncountable times...

SQL Complete is a great tool and time saver

Pros:
I use SQL Complete every day. I love the fact that you can close down SSMS and reopen with all of the tabs opened. It’s a great time saver as I often have a lot of tabs open. I also enjoy the history and use it ever day to reopen old successful queries that I may not have saved previously. It’s also very easy to export all of the history and import onto another machine or even version of SSMS when you upgrade.
Cons:
I wish there was a way to create a table out of a view with the right-click context menu. You can right-click on a query’s table and create a Create Table query, but you can’t do that with a view. This is odd as you can see the column definitions of a view when you hover over a view name. I also wish you could install on more than 2 machines. I have work laptop and a personal laptop and desktop. If I want to install on all three, I have to buy 2 licenses.

How did we survive without SQL Complete?

5

I wish we had discovered SQL Complete sooner. We've been using SSMS for many years and we only started using SQL Complete not long ago because I was looking for a code formatter that doesn't cost a lot. Turned out the devs loved the code completion feature and we've been using it (and renewing the license) since then.

Pros:
There are so many features but we only consciously use the code completion and formatting and we use those features every single day. I was testing a new version of SSMS recently and realized so many things that we now take for granted actually aren't a part of the standard install.
Cons:
Not about the product itself, but buying perpetual license vs. subscription was confusing for us. Support walked us through the purchase step but I feel it could be made simplier.

Super tool to make work easier

Pros:
What I liked most about SQL Complete is its smart autocompletion and how well it integrates with SSMS. Unlike the basic autocompletion found in SQL Server, this tool understands context: when you type a JOIN, it automatically suggests related columns; when you use aliases, it recognizes tables without having to type the full name, and it even suggests functions and parameters.
Cons:
I also noticed that in very large databases, it can become a bit slower in terms of performance, especially when loading metadata for autocompletion. And, although the tool is intuitive, it has a steep learning curve at first to take full advantage of its potential (snippets, style configuration, query history, etc.).

Pros:
The best part about SQL Complete is all the snippets and code formatting to speed up the process of SQL development. It allows common things that I use to be quickly inserted and formatted in a nice readable format.
Cons:
The pricing structure of the product is getting to be a little expensive if you're trying to purchase the product for yourself. There's also no AI built into the product which is a huge miss right now.

Top of the line SQL formatter

5

I’ve been using SQL Complete for about a year, after evaluating several add-ons for Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. I chose SQL Complete based on its functionality, reliability, cost, and overall value. Having spent most of my career doing back-end data work, I write a lot of SQL queries. I estimate that this tool has reduced my query development time by at least 25%.

Pros:
Flexible Formatting Configuration – rich formatting options IntelliSense – intelligent join suggestions and context-aware code completion. Data Viewer – Ability to preview data in formats like JSON and others directly within the tool. Column Statistics in Results Window – Displays useful stats such as unique values, minimum, and maximum for each column in query results.
Cons:
I’d love to see an option to automatically remove square brackets from SQL generated by other tools.

Pros:
Code completion really help me to write sql code faster, above all the use of SQL snippets. Script generation from SSMS result grid is great to write in a second the code to insert rows or to update them.
Cons:
There are too many options and tools..I think I use just a 10% of the functions of the tool! VS2022 version arrived really late.
