Basic software for file compression

It is a basic software that every computer should have since its capabilities are necessary when handling files, either to compress or pack them, although Windows handles a function similar to this program, without a doubt this one is much better.

Pros:

WinZip is a powerful utility software to compress and or archive your files and folders. It works very fast yet still compresses your files efficiently. It has a simple a intuitive graphics user interface which makes it easy to use. Not only you can easily extract archived files just by right clicking it and selecting to extract, you can also use it to create self extracting .zip files that eztacts it self just by double clicking. It supports all popular and widely used compression formats like .Zip, ,TAR, LHA, Rar etc. Also it integrates with Microsoft softwares very well.

Cons:

The only thing that come in my mind against winZip is its price tag and in-availability of a free version except for limited check version to try befor buying it.

Your data is compressed & secure

No issues at work whatsoever. At home, I had periods when I had WinZip, and when I hadn't. During latter periods I would sometimes have issues opening password protect WinZip attachments, but not always. It may depends on a verison.

For home or work, if you would like to quickly email or download large file - WinZip is a great solution. It will both compress your file(s), and provide you with an option to password protect it. Emails often have a maximum size, so WinZip comes very handy. And unlike various file sharing devices it can just seat in your email server, in case you ever need it later.

Cons:

If your correspondent does not have this software, it may be complicated for them to unzip.
