About GoReact

GoReact is an online tool used by students and faculty to capture, organize, evaluate and share peer feedback on assignments. The platform uses screen recording functionality to provide different types of one-on-one activities for assessment and feedback, including video-based activities such as video responses, web searches, simulations and more.

GoReact instantly analyzes videos and sends learners real-time feedback via email or SMS. Users can record skills like speaking and performing across classrooms, theatre stages, hospital rooms, or other settings using phones, tablets and other devices. It also supports many different types of video elements such as screencasts, Vimeo videos, and animated slideshows.

GoReact is available on annual subscriptions and support is provided via phone, email and other online measures.

Pros:

GoReact allows me to observe my student teacher and provide feedback based on a rubric that is based on Teacher Performance Expectations. Distance is no longer a factor. I am a huge fan!

Cons:

I don't have any complaints. I have used Edthena and prefer the support I have received as well as the ease of use.

GoReact Reinforces Active Learning

Overall, GoReact has been the tool to use to allow for critical feedback for recorded assignments. Students are able to see exactly where in their presentation they need improvement and professors can give feedback any where, any time and have that specific critical feedback directly to each student.

Pros:

It is easy to use and a very short learning curve for others to use it. Students are able to receive critical feedback regarding video recorded assignments which helps them to be proactive in their own learning Students are able to apply aspects of one assignments to other assignments which cause development in authentic learning.

Cons:

I really wish there was a trial period available that could be switched to a full semester of access for those students who are waiting (for whatever reason) for their access code to arrive/distributed.

Pros:

GoReact is a tool that was created specifically to assess performance through peer review. It works flawlessly, is reliable, and stable, and uses technology to upload and display multiple video formats making the user interface easy and dynamic. Multiple assignment settings allow for private and group evaluation and reflection. Its LTI integration makes implementation a breeze and a great plus for our faculty.

Cons:

Perhaps the only area still in development for future versions is a more robust mobile device implementation.

GoReact Changed the Way I Teach

I have made significant changes to all of my courses to allow students opportunities to demonstrate their understanding in multiple ways. Having the option of visually showing their knowledge with objects and diagrams in video format has changed my courses in really positive ways.

Pros:

GoReact is easy to use on any platform and so I am not having to play tech support for my students. I like the flexibility to have students see and comment on each other's videos or just me as the instructor. I can also have students comment on their own videos as a self-reflection assignment. Although I do not always use them, I like the scoring tools that make it easier to give feedback in rubrics and with tags.

Cons:

It is a minor thing, but I wish that the process of looking at and assigning a grade to each video was a little smoother.

Reasons for switching to GoReact

I still use Canvas as an LMS, but I use GoReact to handle all of my video assignments.

GoReact for ASL at the University of Richmond

Overall, it's been a productive experience. GoReact is still the preeminent teaching and learning resource for ASL.

Pros:

I most like the collaborative video compilation capabilities, along with the video feedback and tagging tools.

Cons:

The cost and process of deployment. There should be a mechanism for instructors to procure a course license without having to go through an email exchange with the BYU bookstore. Empowering users to purchase and deploy the technology automatically would be a tremendous improvement.

Reasons for choosing GoReact

We have an enterprise subscription to PanOpto, so we often use class recordings in tandem with individual homework assignments and assessment videos recorded on GoReact. The recording interface of GoReact, however, is significantly more intuitive, and the fact that it is wholly browser-based makes it easier for students.

Reasons for switching to GoReact

We switched, because FlipGrid did not facilitate second-by-second video commenting and tagging for detailed feedback in the linguistic medium of ASL.

Pros:

It's easy to set up, add another user's name & save. When it's time to meet, it's very easy to click "record" and meet & greet! Also, it's nice to have backup recording if the screen keeps freezing or weaker life-- we could meet on Zoom (& record there), and then I can upload the Zoom recording on GoReact and we can review by looking at the saved video at anytime! (It's very easy for me to grade after recording :))

Cons:

Occasionally the screen keeps freezing although every time after recorded & finished meeting another user, the video looked smooth. It puzzles me many times my team and I tried to work on. But for now I use different browser Chrome and the Edge every few turns, and cleaned up data, etc. Just this one negative comment.

Pros:

The mobile app that allows our teacher candidates to record directly from their phone to a GoReact assignment is a strong component of this software.

Cons:

Because I administer our college use, I crave a more indepth, hands-on interface for the administrative side of GoReact.

Improving American Sign Language Skills

GoReact solved our issues in providing online students with meaningful video feedback and reinforced feedback for our on campus students.

Pros:

We use GoReact in our online and on campus courses. Our institution uses Canvas as the learning management system. The integration of GoReact with Canvas was seamless. It is very easy to set up assignments using this tool. Our primary use is to improve students American Sign Language skills. Students submit an assignment video to their GoReact account and the instructors provide video feedback at various points in their videos that help students improve. It's as good as being live in the classroom, in some ways better, since students can go back to re-watch instructor feedback as much as they need.

Cons:

Building rubrics in GoReact is one aspect our instructors say are not as intuitive as they would like. At times, students have said the same thing about document attachments with their videos.

I love that this software is cloud based and can be accessed everywhere.

Cons:

The app is a bit of a joke. It is 2022. My students and I are doing everything on our phones. For me recording video in the classroom the app doesn't work if you integrate the GoReact screen with Blackboard and add it as a tool. Kinda pointless.

GoReact is great for teaching and learning ASL!

GoReact is an excellent product. Any time there is a problem, we are able to get it resolved very quickly! As new features are added, our ASL Program has requested and always received personalized training from GoReact specialists to maximize our understanding and use of the new features. I highly recommend it to everyone!

I love the ability to leave video feedback throughout a student's project. This makes it easy for students to review their work, helping them identify and correct their errors.

Cons:

I believe $30 a semester is too much for some classes that only use the software for a few video assignments. I wish there were more purchase options when making an account such as paying for a specific number of recording hours or assignments.

GoReact is one of a kind! There aren't other programs that offer the ability to provide video feedback interspersed through another video and customer service and software training/workshops in ASL!
