TestDome is a cloud-based automated skill testing solution designed to help businesses of all sizes screen candidates and manage the recruitment process for programmers and IT professionals.

A pre-employment skill-testing platform, TestDome employs evidence-based hiring methodology to aid organizations in the hiring process. The platform offers predefined tests comprising questions on programming and general knowledge. The prime features of the application include custom questions, multiple invites, feedback, detailed reports, grading, grouping, cheating protection, multi-user account and more.

Additionally, TestDome allows Application Programming Interface (API) access and integrates with SmartRecruiters, an applicant tracking system. Pricing is based on the number of assessments and support is available via email and phone.

TestDome is great for the software engineering recruitment pipeline

I've been using TestDome during hiring periods to help me select candidates for programming/software engineering positions. The library of questions is great and allows me to set up tests quickly. I like the full report I get for every candidate that takes the test, including showing the timeline and before/after differences in code.

The end-to-end process of inviting candidates, having them take the test and get a full report of the results, is really complete and useful.

Cons:

I get logged out quite quickly while inactive, the timeout is a bit low. Other than that, I'm OK with everything.

Reasons for choosing TestDome

I knew I would only test about 10-20 candidates. The other services would end up being too expensive, as they assume you will test at least 50 candidates or more.

The worst testing platform I've ever seen

Please don't waste your time or your money it truly is a waste of both. I can't imagine how a company this unprofessional could still exist

Nothing, it's not cheap given the terrible service they provide so truly I don't see any benefit to using it

Cons:

Terribly written statements which didn't match at all what was requested, test suites that don't work properly, just a horrible horrible platform

TestDome has been a valuable tool for us in the early stages of recruitment, particularly for filtering candidates efficiently. Its assessments are centered on real-world, role-specific skills, which makes the outcomes more relevant than tests that focus mainly on theory. The platform is intuitive and quick to get started with. Evaluating candidate results is simple, and the scoring system allows us to compare applicants at a glance. We also appreciate the flexibility to tailor assessments to match specific job requirements.

Cons:

We don’t treat TestDome as a standalone decision-maker, as time-limited tests don’t always capture how someone will perform on the job. Additionally, the cost may feel steep for smaller organizations.

Why you should choose TestDome

I love it. It's intuitive and easy to build the tests and there are a lot of questions to choose from. It's also reliable. It's the first platform that I haven't heard from engineers that they couldn't get their code to run or were having trouble submitting it which allows for a good candidate experience.

TestDome has been an extremely value asset to the engineering teams I lead. I was introduced to it by a colleague years ago and have brought it into 3 more companies. The value it adds and the time it saves in the recruiting process is invaluable. As an engineering leader, I've used other products in the past and find that TestDome is the most reliable and gives the best candidate experience. Plus, it has a diverse list of questions allowing you to pull together a test that is unique and doesn't have to take 2 hours to complete.

Cons:

I wish you could get to the cheaper price point without having to buy that large number of tests. It can be hard initially to get buy-in from an organization and getting running with a nice amount of tests would help solidify TestDome's spot in the company. A new user pricing for the first couple of months or packages purchased would be appreciated.

Reasons for switching to TestDome

Unreliable. Almost all candidates ran into issues trying to take an assessment. The question library allows me to have multiple small to medium coding questions without making the test 2 hours or more in length.

Pros:

I like how it's very user friendly and intuitive to use, the learning curve is not that steep, and the open API which allows us to integrate it seamlessly with our in house built ATS.

Cons:

That there is no assessment that is language agnostic. We would love to be able to send a coding problem to our candidates and be able to give them the opportunity to choose which programming language best suits them.

I really enjoyed how TestDome focuses on real-world tasks instead of theoretical questions. It gives a much clearer picture of a candidate’s actual skills, and the platform is smooth and easy to navigate.

Cons:

Some test formats include tasks that the platform cannot score automatically, which results in a fail by default even though it doesn’t reflect the candidate’s actual performance. In these cases, we manually review the submissions to ensure an accurate final evaluation.

I am able to compile and send a competency assessment in 5 minutes. This is awesome. The proctoring feature also goes a long way in building credibility of the assessments. So I would give the platform a 4/5 score.
