About Workday HCM

Workday HCM assists global businesses of all sizes in a variety of industry verticals with workforce planning, analysis, and execution. Workday delivers user and administrative tools such as financial management, HR planning, talent sourcing, payroll processing, reporting and more from a unified portal.

Workday HCM includes human resource management, workforce planning, recruiting, compensation, benefits, time and attendance, learning and more. Workday also offers a module for educational institutions that includes recruiting and admissions, curriculum management, records, advising and financial aid tracking.

With Workday HCM, recruiters and managers can build new teams by finding skilled workers through integrated talent searching and job profiles. The built-in HR component allows users to manage time-off and absences through a self-service employee interface that includes time-off requests and reporting, time-tracking, and policy automation. Users can also visualize organizational structures, manage both full-time employees and temporary employees, as well as configure workflows and define end-to-end business processes.

    Overall, the features are good as compared to SAP SF, and Oracle Teleo. if someone is looking for bulk hiring and managing the data, and a single platform workday would be great.

    Workday HCM Makes Everything Better and Continues to be a Game Changer

    Workday has really grown on me and continues to evolve and get better. I do not see any other platforms out there (Oracle HCM, SuccessFactors, etc) that perform like Workday does or are investing and taking the strides that Workday is currently taking. I see Workday as "best in class". Is it perfect - no, but my experience continues to get better with each release.

    Having previous experience at companies that utilized multiple systems integrated together where we had to manage multiple integration error logs and such I really love that Workday HCM is a truly "core" product that brings all the modules HR, Onboarding, Payroll, Benefits, etc. together into a single system. Also, like that there is a reporting component built into the product so that as we configure new features we can also report on them. Also, it is beneficial in that it is translated/translatable so it can be used globally and also has a mobile interface so users can utilize it via a mobile device.
    Cons:
    During the early stages of Workday I was not sure I was going to like it as coming from multiple platforms that was familiar with to a way more robust single platform was a learning curve and initially thought that Workday was very vanilla in that certain basic things did not seem configurable, but over the past few years Workday has become 2nd nature as have become more familiar with the product and the Workday Product team has continued to listed to customers on Workday Community and enhance the product to make it better.

    Allowed us to move multiple systems into a unified, cloud based platform that centralizes everything and gave us the "best bang for our buck".

    Best HRIS at the moment with room for improvement for customer flexibility.

    Overall is very good and useful with many possibilities. I really like the processes, integrations, and security management. Also I like the reguler updates on bugs and issues per data center where as HRIS specialist I can be informed and there are no surprises. I would prefer less window releases that can be layout omptimizations, but more updates based on customer suggestions from Community. Overall it is value for money, if reporting and matrix options can be enhanced. I would promote Workday as HRIS solution for more companies.

    Not "boring" for end user kind of more playfull and fancy than other HRISs. For some modules it is very easy to use. And very useful on managing HR processes and can support almost all processes within the system.
    Cons:
    Reporting, not clear on trended worker data source and not easy to combine data and data sources and not easy to make dashboards for higher management, often we need to go to powerbi solution which means exporting sensitive data. Also, there are security limitations with matrix organizations.

    Workday has been an excellent solution for our payroll processing. The interface is intuitive and user friendly, so it’s easy to navigate even for less technical users. What I appreciate most is the flexibility and level of customization—reports, workflows, and fields can be tailored to match our specific payroll processes and policies. Once configured, payroll runs are smooth, accurate, and consistent, and the system makes it simple to track changes and audit activity. Overall, Workday has streamlined our payroll operations and given us much better visibility and control.

    It works fine for the basics (getting paid and taking leave), but it isn't "delightful" to use. It feels very corporate and rigid. I can get my work done, though.

    It puts everything in one place. I like that I can check my payslip, update my direct deposit, and request time off all in the same app. The mobile app is very decent for quick tasks.
    Cons:
    The user interface feels "clunky" and requires too many clicks to get anywhere. Simple tasks, like finding my tax documents or navigating the Learning module, often feel buried under multiple sub-menus. The recruiting interface for internal applications is also very rigid

    We required more granular reporting and deeper audit trails than BambooHR could provide. Workday allows us to configure complex business processes and security policies that are essential for our compliance needs (SOX) as a public/growing company.

    Highly recommend Workday for all size companies and sectors

    Workday is super convenient and all-in-one. They occupy a good niche in HR management for internal employees and external applicants. I doubt any other software is up to par.

    After starting at a new company, I found that Workday was excellent for onboarding task management. The requirements are itemized and quickly refresh once completed, helping me stay on task in a new environment that requires significant amounts of time for onboarding.
    Cons:
    I'm still having some trouble using the organizational chart/tree lookup function. I think some training videos for this and other features would help a lot.
