About The Tussman Program

The Tussman Program is a legal billing software, which enables law firms to streamline processes related to the general ledger, client communications, disbursements, cases, matters, and more. Professionals can track daily or monthly working hours, record billable or non-billable costs and perform conflict checks according to requirements.

The Tussman Program allows legal practices to generate reports in a CSV file format and view account balances across clients or matters. Administrators can gain insights into beginning and ending balances for accounts receivable, retainer, work-in-progress and trust accounts for a specific period of time. Additionally, law firms can maintain a list of editable documents and categorize matters based on location, department, case type and more.

The Tussman Program helps managers create billing rate schedules and generate payment reminders for clients. Pricing is available on request and support is extended via phone, email and documentation.

Pros:

I used The Tussman Program for time-keeping and billing of all attorneys and paralegals throughout my law practice from 1986 to the present. David Tussman has constantly upgraded and improved his product, and his cloud-based option enabled me to continue my law practice remotely after the COVID shutdown ordered in the Bay Area on March 16, 2020. I continue to use The Tussman Program today.

Cons:

I have not had any problems with the features, and any issues were resolved quickly by [SENSITIVE CONTENT] and his staff.

Tussman Program gave us the ability to generate client bills in a much more timely fashion, which greatly helped with collections.

Pros:

Been using Tussman software for years and years. Very easy to run And maintain. Easy to find where time went.

Cons:

I would like to be able to send email reminders to clients of past due bills. The current system doesn’t let me.

The reporting is very robust and customizable, some reports can be exported to CSV and they can be filtered down very easily.

Cons:

I wish there were more ways to import data.

The program is easy to use. It has a lot of bells and whistles we don’t use. What we do work with daily is a straight forward program that makes sense. When I have a question, I call [SENSITIVE CONTENT] and he walks you through whatever ia needed, he’s always quick at responding and I love I have one person to deal with, unlike other previous programs we have used where the support is terrible.

Thanks can’t think of any cons, love it!

Why I Love Tussman

I love this program! After using a "business" billing program for 5 years, finding the Tussman program made things so much easier since it is Taylor made for a law practice. We've been using it since 1993, and don't plan to switch to anything else - ever!

Pros:

The program is so easy to use and fits all the various areas of law our firm practice: litigation, estate planning, general legal, collections etc. The options are there to configure bills to fit the type of file.

Cons:

When entering payments, I would like the program to "hold" the check or payment reference number so after a portion of the payment was applied to Fees, you didn't have to retype what are sometimes lengthy check/payment numbers again, when a portion of the payment was applied to Costs in the very next entry. Regarding the trust account, it would be helpful on collection type billings if the "Cut off Date for Payments" also applied to payments made into trust. When we do a monthly bill in early November for file work thru 10/31/21 for instance, so that any money in trust collected in the month of October can be paid out to client and to our firm, if a debtor has made a payment that was put into trust November 2 or 3, it shows on the Trust Account Recap, even if the cut off date of 10/31/21 is used. This causes confusion since we would not yet be paying out payments made in the month of November.

The Tussman Program Review

You can really do a lot with this program. One thing I really enjoyed was the ability to make lists and generate reports, filtered by the parameters we needed. We used this to quickly find out who to send Christmas cards to, what cases are active, what cases have pending items, who has referred cases to us in the past year, and a plethora of others. What is even better is the support staff are so easy to reach and/or quick to return calls, it really makes you feel appreciate, and operate more efficiently and stress-free.

Pros:

This product is really easy to integrate into your business. As new clients come in you add their information in the program and as you provide services, you input what you do. You can also separate the costs, administrative time, non-billable costs/time, billable hours, etc. It then prints the invoice out in an easy to read document. You can also customize certain features to better fit your needs and make billing quicker and more efficient.

Cons:

One thing I would would like to see improved is the ability to undo more than once, like (ctr + z) in Microsoft. This program only lets you undue once. Also, there is a button next to spell check button that inserts the text from the previous entry and then there is no way to undue it. Sometimes when I am going to spell check my billing entry description, I accidently click on this box and then have to type what I originally had all over again. Its not too bad, just annoying. But, that is something I would like to see altered in future version.

Entering time for billing in super easy, making changes even more so. If I've ever had an issue I couldn't resolve myself, customer support has always been able to resolve near-immediately!

Cons:

Some of the reports don't quite generate the way I expect or hope they will on the first try, but overall they're incredibly useful.

Pros:

I love the Cloud-based storage feature of this software. I never have to worry if my computer crashes because all of my information is easily retrieved.

Cons:

It would be helpful if there was a way to edit each individual bill as I preview the bills on the system, instead of having to remember which bills I need to go back and edit after I've exited the preview screen.

Not only is the software inexpensive compared to competitors, but the program is efficient and easy to use and understand and Richard and David are always ready to help with anything!

Cons:

I love everything about this software and will likely expand its use into calendaring as well.
