About Shaw

Shaw offers a loan and lease servicing solution designed for retail loans. It offers lease management, insurance, fee processing, dealer processing as well as sales tax, property tax and income tax reporting functionalities. The product is suitable for banks, credit unions, auto finance companies and speciality lenders. Both cloud-based and on-premise deployment options are available.

The solution allows users to track loan details such as issue date, re-issue date, charge frequency and personal identification numbers (PIN). The solution also allows users to process different types of loan fees such as new loan fees, membership fees, extensions and termination fees.

The solution also offers auto dealership processing, which allows users to process both simple interest and add-on loans. Users can manage processing methods, accrual rates, holdback amount and recourse amount. Users can also calculate different leasing taxes such as sales tax, property tax and income tax.

Very structured Financial Processing Software

The processes in RETAIL, while somewhat configurable from an entry and user experience standpoint, are very structured from a processing standpoint and what order items post in. The system has the ability to report on most indicators you would normally expect and can be configured to the needs of each individual clients accounting requirements.

Pros:

The security and user controls are very good. The concept of APF and being able to design your process flow is also interesting.

Cons:

Maintenance and flexibility to add new features and products is extremely old-school and rigid, does not seem to follow the ever-changing trend of servicing systems being able to adapt to companies' needs. The pricing is also extremely high considering the delays to get the service and the fact our database has very strict views and cannot be edited by us even though we pay (a lot) for the hosting.
