E2 Shop System software


E2 by Shoptech Corporation is a manufacturing solution that offers scheduling, purchasing, shipping, customer management and accounting. It’s designed specifically for job shops, contract and a variety of make-to-order manufacturers.

E2 estimating allows users to create both "quickie quotes" and complex estimates on labor, overhead, material, etc., that can be faxed or emailed with attached drawings or pictures. These quotes can be automatically turned into orders, with no double entry required.

E2 automatically generates shipping labels and packing slips and then tracks shipments online to multiple shipping addresses. Its materials management module controls all components and parts, aligning the company's purchase needs with the entered orders, as well as tracking delivery and finding the best prices.

The contact management module helps shops ensure that everyone stays on the same page, from the shop floor to the end client. It also pulls in all business financials, so shops can manage payroll, accounts payable and receivable and general ledger from a single location, as well as using one of the 200 built-in reports for comprehensive analysis.

    E2 SHOP rose to the top of my list after a long research cycle into all the various ERP products

    I looked at E2 SHOP, JobBOSS, Realtrac, Visual EstiTrack, and Fishbowl, plus have extensive working knowledge of Epicor.

    Pros

    Fresh interface, easy to navigate, easy to deploy. The support staff has been amazing, with tickets being responded to in near real time. The product is definitely a mature product, and all the small details one looks for in a job shop ERP system seem to be covered.

    Deployment phase has an engineer assigned to you, so you have a single call for implementation help. Training has the basics covered in videos you can watch at your leisure, and they also have in-depth classes on every aspect. This comes with the software maintenance (6 or 12 months included).

    Covers everything Epicor does, but at a much reduced price - and not as clunky.

    Cons

    Their web based product has a lot of delay, which was negated by using the on-premise system.
    Some things take multiple clicks to do, as compared to the previous version that have only one or two clicks for the same feature.

    It's nice to have a platform that keeps track, in live time, of your inventory and orders. Great for those working in a production area

    This is not the most intuitive software. It takes a lot of messing around with to achieve one simple aspect.

    before buying any software make sure it look seriously at E-2. Their prices are more affordable than you would think and by far best program for you.

    Pros

    the newest version of the software is great. the ability to create new items, quotes, jobs etc. is very easy. I looked into several different software options and to get the cloud based software the cost was higher than i expected and other company seemed to push to have you buy the on premise versions. the ability to add shop users later is not only easy but very affordable. the nice thing is you dont have to have shop users to be able to track or log times per job. you can enter in manually so if you are a smaller shop you can still take advantage of all the benefits of the software and be able to track P & L quick and easy.

    Cons

    My only downside to this was i used an old version for several years at another company. I was very jaded about looking at it for our new shop because how my previous employer had it set up. after seeing the newest version and all the improvements my mind was changed very quickly.

    We do not have most recent iteration of E2's shop tech system.

    Pros

    Usability as a job shop ERP system. Not all ERP systems can serve as a job shop companies ERP system.

    Cons

    High implementation cost forces users to use for a long time and not upgrade to a new system that contains cloud systems every couple of years. Interface is slow, confusing and not friendly to use.

    Cons

    The cost. It is expensive software and the yearly fee is quite expensive. Customization through shoptech is expensive also.

    E2 makes our manufacturing easy to track and analyze. It is a very simple but powerful software.

    Pros

    My favorite part about E2 is the simple layout and design of each module. Anyone with an understanding of the flow in manufacturing can learn this software quickly. Also, the software is somewhat flexible which makes it easy to tailor around your company's specific style of processing jobs and orders. There is also a lot of useful data you can pull from the system to analyze manufacturing costs. My favorite is the Job Cost Summary which allows you to see in detail every cost of a specific job.

    Cons

    The one module I find difficult to use is the Scheduling module. For our company's style of manufacturing it has been hard to use and implement. We mostly build to stock, but we get a lot of build to order jobs that have to be rushed through manufacturing and really mess up the scheduling. I still have a lot to learn about the Scheduling module, but I wish there was a way to use sales history to continually update the job completion date. This would allow us to reschedule our work in progress to fill the shelves before we run out of stock. This module has a lot of promise but for now seems a bit cumbersome to use effectively.

    All shop activities and Accounting activities are in one software package.

    Pros

    Software is very easy to use. There are various modules to meet a variety of needs. Updates are available as downloads so I can schedule them at our convenience. Support has always been immediately available and their staff follows up to make sure things are resolved. They also have Online tutorials and webinars that are helpful.

    Cons

    The customization of reports can be difficult to do on my own using the Crystal Report Writer software.

    Pros

    Priced well compared to competition, provides reports, upfront training provided. great for the shop floor guys to clock in and out of. While the training manuals were outdated, the software was easy enough to figure out on my own.

    Cons

    So many extra modules must be purchased to make it functional or editable. Customer service can be a little rough to get an answer or fix, but once you get to the the knowledgable person it will get resolved quickly.

    The software allows you to create items on the fly to eliminate down time.
    E2 is very customizable to your specific needs in your organization.
    E2 has integrated the various currencies that are used in transactions.
    The software has user security so that you can limit the information seen by each user
    It is a fully functional program that takes the part from inception and quote stage to the full out Order processing and then to shipping.
    We love the integration with Data Collection to minimize input of labour entries
    Customer Service is great and they can usually fix the issue within 1 or 2 phone calls unless it is a larger issue but is also escalated to keep the down time to a minimum.
    It is also pretty easy to teach new employees on how to use the program.

    Cons

    The software is a great product and I really don't have anything we don't like about the program. We use it daily and very rarely do we have any issues.

    In general, we like it. We have 14 people using the software. Some are very proficient and others only use certain aspects, but everyone is able to get out of it what they need.

    Pros

    It is very user friendly. Once you get used to the way it is laid out, it is very easy to go from one section to another.
    All the sections are integrated (quotes get carried over to orders, which get carried over to packing slips, etc) which makes it easy to check details and pricing.

    Cons

    Sometimes there are glitches, like when you want to print "all Invoices' that are open, and only one prints.
    When you are looking for something, you really have to pay attention to what you chose to search. If it is not exact, you will not get the correct information.

    The product seems to be in design stage. Many things don't work as expected and tech support admits they don't know why something is happening.

    Looks like they may have a good product if they get a lot of bugs worked out. Not ready for sale yet but they'll gladly sell it to you. If your shop is big enough to pay for this type of software and you need real time data entry as well as cost/pricing included for each job find something else. If you just want to keep a schedule go for something like Just Plan It or Odoo and use Quickbooks for the money side of things. You'll save a lot of money.

    Pros

    It does an OK job for the money but honestly they need to do some work on the programming side. Seems like a product that should still be in the design stage.

    Cons

    They make it difficult for floor guys to post stock to projects, the data recorder centers constantly don't clock guys into jobs, they don't allow for dry times in-between production stages, there are several things that do not work or don't work as they are supposed to, the time clock for employees doesn't automatically adjust for over time if a manual correction is made, the printing set up is terrible (I know this seems silly but it make a big difference), you can't have multiple tabs open so every time you want to move to a different section the browser has to update and many other small but big issues.

    It greatly streamlined our shop management system, allowing us greater visibility and transparency of the whole process from order review through production to final inspection and shipment.

    Pros

    - The General layout of the software and UI makes it very simple and intuitive.
    - The ability to customize reports
    - The expandability of the software, being able to add-on as you grow.
    - Customer service is very responsive and always willing to help.

    - No EDI capability currently, which is far from a major problem.

    1. No IT guy cost to maintain server.
    2. Can use inexpensive workstations. We use Chromebooks for data collection. I also use a chromebook for trips.
    3. Android/Apple app for tablets that can be used for data collection
    4. Also just released an app for employees to check in and out from their phone. You can post stock from this app.
    5. Work from anywhere. I was in Minnesota 2 weeks ago during a blizzard. I was at starbucks, posted up next to the window, working on my chromebook with no hick ups.
    6. New updated features over the old system. Better reports. More capable Hot Spots.
    7. Works the same as the old system, just things are in different spots.
    8. Better, more efficient user interface
    9. Easier to customize reports
    10. Just introduced Dashboards

    Cons

    1. The subscription price.
    2. Cert control in general can be better.
    3. Employee Clock in Module is a pain. You cannot edit someone time until they are clocked out.

    The software enables us to track our jobs throughout the manufacturing process and is extremely easy to use. Their customer services representatives are knowledgeable and eager to assist. We also utilize their quality module for creating RMA/DMRs.

    Cons

    The aspect of ShopTech that I like least is probably the reporting capabilities. I find the "canned" reports to be lacking.
