A Beginner's Viewpoint

The tech support person was helpful in that she fixed my problem. It just took a few days which could have been stressful if I were up against a deadline, luckily I was not. Hopefully, Startup Tree learned something as well because they had never seen the error I was seeing before.

I recently started using Startup Tree and found it fairly easy to navigate. Some things were not intuitive, but I managed to find what I needed. When I encountered a problem, tech support was there to walk me through the situation.

Cons:

It took several attempts and several days to fix the tech problem I encountered. For some reason, I could not access my account. I tried all the usual fixes like resetting my password, rebooting my computer, etc. During this time I was in contact with Startup Tree via email and they were troubleshooting on their end. They had to reset my password from their side.

We could not have done it without StartupTree

I’ve tried close to a dozen other software platforms in the past, but StartupTree is the only one that actually meets our needs. We moved every part of our programming onto StartupTree and I could not recommend doing so enough. Alternative solutions only go so far and it really adds up when you need one for each section of your operations from marketing and promotions to a CRM to an events software. We would not have been able to grow nearly as fast without the power of StartupTree and the only regret I have would be not getting on sooner.

The best part is that I can pull everything my team needs for our newsletter each week, track granular user activity and event RSVPs, and collect application data all in one place. I’ve saved much time with reporting since StartupTree eliminates the need for data tracking to be manual. Having all our community activities centralized on one platform does wonder for both my team behind the scenes and for students to get the most out of our programming.

Cons:

The product has changed a lot over the years, but it hasn't always been clear what changes are going to be made. Recently they've implemented a product newsletter that gives greater visibility into upgrades being made which helps a lot.

StartupTree is a must-have for all startups and small businesses.

Using StartupTree really helped me and my team stay engaged with the startup community at our school which allowed us to grow through membership, funding, and mentorship.

This software was a great tool that allowed us to host our entire startup in one place. Using StartupTree allowed us to keep our information up to date and relevant to the startup community in order to secure funding, find competitions and events, post hiring applications, grow our network, and find mentors.

Cons:

I felt that the website could be a little more streamlined. There's some empty space that could be utilized (some information is shortened (Internships is shortened to "Intern..." on my screen). Also the 'Events' calendar seems to be somewhat empty as there were more events going on (that I found through StartupTree) that weren't on the calendar or were on the calendar but I didn't know about them until a few days before.

The most important features of the platform would be the pages, mentors, competitions, and applications. We use these every day in some form or fashion and are directly related to the growth of our center.

Cons:

The backend has a learning curve and is difficult to manage sometimes although after walking through it with your expert team it was better understood.

I did not look at another software solution because Startuptree staff at the beginning were helpful, considerate, and supportive of what we were trying to achieve as a new entrepreneurship center.

The ease of onboarding students onto the platform and the ease in which they can create their teams is great!

Cons:

A direct option to upload video content to the platform (startup pitches) would be helpful instead of having to use an external platform like Youtube or Vimeo and link share would be nice.

Pros:

Startup Tree is intuitive for students and provides an inexpensive and impactful platform for the university ecosystem to grow and thrive. Students can remain engaged as they become alumni, and community members can engage as well.

Cons:

I always look forward to the Startup Tree upgrades. They've been shipping new product features left and right, and they are always happy to discuss customization. We wanted more control over our mentor systems and they were able to provide it.

Reasons for choosing StartupTree

Startup Wind and Trusted Peer were more complicated and more expensive. Notion would have been way more work on our end building the platform backend ourselves.

The Perfect Platform!

Overall our team has had an amazing experience with StartupTree. We have transitioned most of what we do to be managed or partly managed/set-up through the platform and it has made our work much better and efficient. The customer service is excellent and the platform continues to evolve and be updated which is great. Overall, I would highly recommend this platform to any Entrepreneurship centre looking to expand and organize their offerings into a single place.

Pros:

The ability to be able to have students view my calendar, directly book a meeting with me and communicate with me all through the platform is such a great feature. Also really like how easy it is to navigate through and use the platform.

Cons:

There isn't anything I don't like about the platform... there are however things I think that could be added such as more features and integration to other software (such as MailChimp etc...) that would be beneficial.
