Greater Giving is a complete suite of nonprofit event auction products and services. It is designed to streamline check-in and check-out processes while improving the overall experience for donors, staff, and volunteers. Greater Giving enables nonprofits to host live and silent auctions as well as accept online donations.

    It is now all done on a web page. This has been a large improvement over the older versions. It is quick and easy for our volunteers to use. Support is excellent when you need it.
    Cons:
    It can sometime time out when your are in a conference center wifi. Logging in can be confusing for volunteers

    Definitely the best value out there for platforms of this sort. I would refer anyone to use it who works with events and fundraising.

    It is easy to use with solid, quick support when necessary. Very user friendly overall. Great value for the cost! Works better than many more expensive programs. This is the second place I have worked where I have used it and will continue to endorse it going forward.
    Cons:
    There are some areas where more training is needed or pieces can be added to make the creation of an event or fundraiser more complete or easier.

    Reasons for choosing Greater Giving

    See above; I was familiar with it from a prior job; it was a much better value plus offered a yearlong subscription not just a few months.

    Reasons for switching to Greater Giving

    I never used it but even when I tried to first log on, I couldn't access past events and info. The subscription was only for a limited time as well so outside that calendar, there was no access. Very confusing and not intuitive.

    Glitchy, clumsy, not intuitive

    Clumsy, glitchy, counter-intuitive program. I work with computer programs all day long, and this one is just wayyyyy too complicated for what it is. And the webpages look like they’re designed for Netscape 98. Shouldn’t be this hard.

    It is a platform that collects money. But that’s about all that I can say positively about Greater Giving. Their customer service and technical support is helpful, but I shouldn’t have to call them as often as I do.
    Cons:
    The page formats are really outdated looking. Customization is limited and glitchy. Reports are hard to understand. Everything seems to take 10 steps, when it could be done in 2.

    Greater Giving has been instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition from in-person auctions to the online way of doing business now. Prior to Covid we had the opportunity to begin using Greater Giving for our in person events and it made such a difference in the management of our auction. The transition to online fundraising was a breeze with Greater Giving. I especially appreciate the amazing customer service whenever I have a question. So very helpful.
    Cons:
    Sometimes when I "chat" with help I'm referred right to an article to read to figure it out. I admit, that frustrates me a bit, but I get it. I'm a visual person and figuring out this program all on my own, well, as an ED sometimes I just need you to tell me what to do and show me how to do it. Figuring out the website and the scrolling marque has been the most frustrating. I don't like that you can't resize the marquee of donors to make them bigger. It would be a better visual especially when you are trying to brand your event and be consistent with graphics.

    We did it on the advisement of our Board, and it was time. Auction! did not have the functionality that Greater Giving had. So, it really was a no brainer.

    I think it's one of the most commonly used Fundraising platforms, so that would be it's plus side.
    Cons:
    I truly don't like the back end of the greater giving, it's what drove me away for two years and it isn't very visually stimulating or pretty. I think many other platforms do a better job of this.

    Not easy to use, but great customer support!

    Overall, the company offers a product that can be very useful, but if you have a small fundraising team who doesn't design websites and have a lot of experience with backend website management, it is not the best unless you use it regularly and invest the time into learning it.

    Greater Giving offers affordable options for fundraising event software, and makes it easy for event attendees to register and save their credit card information to make check-in process quicker. Their credit card swiper machines are excellent for check in and to square donations and purchases after the event without making supporters check out at the end of the event.
    Cons:
    The event software is extremely hard to use, and not intuitive unless you have lots of website experience. For one example, if you add a logo for a sponsor to add to the event landing page, it doesn't say that it has to be specific format. A lot of guessing and calls to customer service. They do have tutorials, but several are outdated, so you waste time watching and realize you need to call customer support anyway.

    Greater Giving had the option to save credit cards in advance with registration, but in the end the event registration software was too complicated for our needs.

    Greater Giving has excellent training materials for someone new to the product. They made it easy to set up a new project even for a beginner. And the customer support is great!
    Cons:
    We use a less know CRM so when I export a report it has to be tweaked in order to make it compatible for an import.

    I've been using Greater Giving for 10 years and have enjoyed using their auction software for ease of use and customer service.
    Cons:
    I haven't really compared other platforms, to be honest. I feel like the online auction page and donation page could be designed a little nicer but otherwise I have no other feedback.
