About Jamf Pro

Jamf Pro is a cloud-based patch management system which helps network managers and technology professionals monitor patches for applications such as Mac, Google Chrome, Adobe Flash and Microsoft Office. Its key features include automated scanning, network management, remote protection, vulnerability mapping and device recognition.

The application comes with functionality which sends users notifications when new patches are published, evaluates patches and package updates. Team members can use the system’s self-service portal to push a patch and install it automatically. The solution lets users keep all devices up to date by deploying upgrades and tracking the upgrade progress across the environment.

Jamf Pro enables teams to collect hardware, software and security configuration details from Apple devices and generate custom reports. It is available on a monthly subscription and support is provided via phone and email.

It’s great could be better feels like a product from the 90s could use a full refresh. Also the cert program is overpriced.

The features are the best part about this software. I like the custome features and the customization you can do.

The price is the worse part. Also Jamf support is really bad and hard to get a hold of. Wish that was better

JAMF the best an Apple can get!

Compared to other MDM systems our company has leveraged over the years, JAMF is definitely the only MDM system for Apple devices!

Pros:

The advanced device and app management features allows us to keep our fleet of Apple devices up to date in every way. As a healthcare organization, JAMF allows us to not only stay secure, but also to stay mobile!

Cons:

JAMF is packed full of great features, but I would like to see an inventory collection setting to show whether or not an app is managed or unmanaged in reports.

Reasons for switching to Jamf Pro

JAMF had so many more features geared towards Apple products.

Jamf Pro handled device management smoothly, especially for Macs. Deployments, updates, and security policies felt effortless, and it saved a lot of time managing development machines.

Cons:

Some actions take a few extra clicks compared to what I expected. The learning curve can be noticeable in the first days, but it becomes intuitive once the structure clicks.

Overall its a good alternative to jamf now because the price of jamf now is ricing and sometimes jamf pro offers you a cheaper price so a switch to jamf pro is cheaper than jamf now and you have mor eSettings.

It has more scope of service than jamf now. You can do more and specific things for the iOS Devices. It has a fast communication with teh device.

Cons:

It is a bit confusing when you used jamf now before. You have more things to do in the Settings and when you do one thing wrong alle the others have no function.

Unfortunately there are not that many options to integrate things and it is a bit pricey.

If you use Macs in your organization Jamf Pro is the right tool

Our staff have limited computer skills and often get themselves in trouble (phishing, malware, etc). Jamf Pro allows us to protect them from their mistakes. We do not give Admin access but do provide most software they might want in Self Service. We can also take care of the updates and installs for them so they just use what they need.

Pros:

The way it integrates with Apple systems like DEP and VPP make it a truly unique product. Apple has created a secure "walled garden" for their hardware. Jamf is the only tool of its kind that has access into this walled garden. Being able to buy a Mac from our custom Apple store, ship it to a user, and have them set it up with Jamf...all without IT ever needing to touch the device...is amazing. It can do just about anything else you need it to: install software, block software, update software, set security settins, remote lock, remote wipe, notify users of important events, and of course much more through Self Service.

Cons:

It is a very robust tool, but you need to know how to use it. Many of the best features you do need to set up and build out. That can require some scripting or other technical details, or some administrative steps to work out with Apple and your local business representative. However, it is all very possible and you will get there.

We did not compare, Jamf Pro is one of a kind with its level of integration into the Apple world.

Perfect product for Apple device management

The software is really well made and you’ll get great control over your apple devices. We have tested lots of platforms but this one is my favorite.

Great real-time dashboards about every needed aspect for the whole Apple device inventory at a glance made it convenient to decide easily about the future projects.

Cons:

Implementing the jamf pro for the first time needed patience and continuous improvement so that we can reach an stable level, sometimes even changing settings related to automation requires some scripting experience.

This platform offers excellent integration with Apple devices and simplifies daily administrative tasks once it is fully configured.

Cons:

Jamf Pro offers powerful capabilities however, user experience could be improved and in the future perhaps it can multi-tenant support where you can replicate a tenant to another which can potentially be useful for when company mergers happen.

Best Apple MDM

It was a really good experience being able to use Jamf for my MDM devices. I loved the layout, the feel, and the best part was that everything was super manageable.

Pros:

Jamf Pro was used in my old job and it was very helpful to maintain track of all of my apple devices. It is probably the best software out there for this.

Cons:

There is absolutely nothing bad about Jamf, I found everything to be perfect about it.
