Overall observiq has been great to work with and implement. It filled a need that I had to get monitoring up and running quickly on my linux server. Set up was easy and support was excellent.

Pros:
1. Easy to setup and configure with our web server and application 2. Great service from the observiq folks through chat, email, and video chat. 3. Love the alerts based on specific triggers in the logs. 4. Many built in connectors to server types, applications, log-types, etc. They seem to be adding new ones as needed, too.
Cons:
I liked mostly everything. There were a couple of things on the server I needed to monitor that didn't have a a pre-built connector. However, the support team helped me get the generic connector to work, and it was great!

Bindplane Review

4

9/10 - some mildly annoying UI issues, but otherwise very solid product, and much better than the alternatives i have used.

Ratings Breakdown

4
Ease of use

Functionality

Pros:
Very easy to deploy, create configs, manage agents/collectors, debug issues, and also very easy to get straight into "complicated" otel things if need be e.g. otel statements via Transform. Also very resource efficient. Sources are also very easy to configure, especially for anything outside of basic syslog/udp/tcp streams such as SQL dbs, files.
Cons:
Console UI is inconveniently buggy. Constantly signing out every few minutes (i assume due to rate limiting triggered by the hundreds of graphql calls) which causes lost work when editing things. Editing processors sometimes randomly replaces current processors with a previous processor which was clicked on. Unable to view multiple projects in different tabs or even different browser instants - only one can be active which is unfortunately annoying. Diff viewer only compares current version to previous versions, meaning you cannot incrementally view diffs.

Reasons for switching to Bindplane

With Google announcing the forwarder EOL, we started playing around with bindplane, and found it significantly better than what we had used in the past. Compared to other ingestion methods that I have worked with, it was just a lot easier, simpler, and straight to the point, plus very reliable.

Honest Review Bindplane from Petrosea

3

Overall, my experience with BindPlane has been positive. The UI is clean, modern, and easy to understand, which makes day‑to‑day usage comfortable. Configuration and filtering are generally straightforward and not overly complicated, even for complex setups. However, there are still several areas that need improvement, especially around filtering accuracy, agent visibility, access control, and logging details. While the core functionality works well and the UI helps reduce operational friction, additional refinements and feature enhancements would significantly improve usability, reliability, and administrative efficiency in production environments.

Pros:
BindPlane’s user interface is clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed for operational efficiency. Navigation feels intuitive, with logical grouping of sources, pipelines, and destinations that reduces cognitive load. Visual hierarchy, spacing, and typography make complex configurations easy to scan and understand. Real-time feedback, clear validation messages, and consistent labeling help prevent errors during setup. The UI performs smoothly, even when managing large data flows, and key actions are never more than a few clicks away. Overall, BindPlane’s UI balances power and simplicity, enabling both new and experienced users to work confidently, quickly, and with minimal friction across diverse logging environments globally.
Cons:
Cannot export all the agent to csv result The product should allow onboarding without requiring a CA private key and use mTLS only. The agent view should include a column showing the local IP address. Rollback sometimes reports an error but continues running in the background. Filters cannot be applied with a custom time range. We need a feature to rename hostnames. We need a feature to add notes or descriptions for better context. Login activity should be logged along with the source IP address. We need the ability to create read-only user accounts; currently, we are sharing accounts. Passwords should be encrypted in configuration files. Logs should be viewable per endpoint. On the /agents page, the hourly log data is inaccurate; the accurate data is available under /configurations when filtering by agent.

Reasons for switching to Bindplane

Great UI, but pricing feels expensive.!!

My bindplane experience

4

BindPlane provides a much-needed 'easy button' for OpenTelemetry at scale. It effectively removes the headache of manual YAML configuration by providing a centralized, visual control plane for fleet management. The platform has been a game-changer for reducing our observability costs through smart filtering at the edge, making it simple to manage thousands of collectors without the typical operational overhead. It’s a powerful bridge between complex raw telemetry and actionable data.

Pros:
The standout feature of BindPlane is how it transforms the complexity of OpenTelemetry into a manageable, visual experience. It provides a much-needed "command center" for fleet management, allowing you to deploy, monitor, and update collectors across thousands of nodes without touching a single CLI. By offering a centralized UI for data filtering and transformation, it not only simplifies the technical overhead but also serves as a powerful tool for cost optimization, enabling you to prune noisy telemetry at the source before it hits your budget.
Cons:
While BindPlane excels at simplifying telemetry pipelines, its biggest drawback is the gap between its simplified UI and the advanced capabilities of the underlying OpenTelemetry project. Power users may find the interface restrictive when attempting highly complex, custom data transformations that aren't yet supported as "out-of-the-box" processors. Additionally, because the platform relies on its own distribution of the OTel collector (BDOT), there can be a slight delay in accessing the absolute latest upstream OpenTelemetry features. For smaller teams, the initial setup of the BindPlane Server—specifically managing its own storage and networking requirements—can also feel like a significant administrative hurdle compared to purely SaaS-based observability tools.

Pros:
The UI and UX are so user friendly. The features that helped me to ingesting telemetry to SecOps. I like how the data can be shown as a traffic while we ingest it to the SecOps.
Cons:
Some features like filter by syntax or fields didn't show up in my environment. I don't know if that regarding the license or else. But some of featurese didn't come up. Also, if I doing rolling out to more than 60 installed agents in the configuration, it will stick in the middle, around 30 agents, and it's digussting, one of the endpoints still configuring, and I have to try pause and resume the rolling out process

Almost Amazing

Overall good, the application works well but there are a few kinks and hiccups. I work for an MSSP primarily so the difficult part is explaining it to clients and giving them confidence to use it. Maybe even an info box explaining how much Bindplane's compression reduced ingestion by can calm some skeptics.

Pros:
UI presentation is easy to use and demonstrate to clients. The application as a whole is very responsive and easy to configure.
Cons:
Search functionality is limited. I understand that it doesn't fully use the database to store logs but it would be handy to be able to search a decent data set (1000 logs or so) and see if all the data is pumping without needing a separate big query set up. Additionally a little more clarity on the per second time would be handy as the compression is difficult to explain to clients without them getting confused or concerned.
