Can't beat what you get for a free cross-platform Project Planning Software

I used to use Gantter, but then they started charging. I have tried ProjectLibre but it is a bit steep of a learning curve. This software hits what I need which is free and simple to use. This gets the job done everytime for my 3 month customer projects. I only use about two-three resources which makes my planning a bit simpler. The webpage export is great as is the png output. Makes it easy to share.

Pros:

I am mainly a Linux user and this software along with ProjectLibre are the only Gantt Software I can find that isn't web-based or charged for. This is very easy to get up and going and export a simple project roadmap for customer review.

Cons:

The UI is still probably a work in progress. I don't really mind that much but it doesn't blow you away. There are not tons of features, but has everything I use. I am not a Project Manager though.

Reasons for switching to GanttProject

Gantter started charging $5/user/month where as this is free and has the basic capabilities I need.

Powerful gantt scheduling software

It was easy to use and subsequently implement across a team. Visuals are great for client facing reports and detailed notes and item properties allow granular project management.

Free product with tons of features to help manage projects. Easy and intuitive to learn

Cons:

It can sometimes lag or glitch when editing event details, possibly fixed in updates.

Simple solution to host on-premises

Pros:

Being open souce it is a simple solution that can be hosted on-premises. We can use it whenever the customer environment is closed or the information needs to be archived later.

Cons:

Reporting features need more options, specially to manage Agile/Scrum projects. Integration to manage Sprints could be useful as well.

A very good cheap alternative for basic project management functions

Good experience, I use it regularly to start and monitor project through it's GANTT functions, and also in relation to people allocation to the different WPs.
