Meez is a great tool for professional chefs and caterers.

Pros:

My favorite feature is that I can scale recipes up or down, depending on how much I need that week. I also really like the costing feature- the work in conversions that Meez does for you saves me a lot of time and means I'll actually use the tool.

Cons:

It's constantly improving. Initially uploading recipes was a pain, but now that I can "copy-paste" and Meez largely figures it out, it saves me a lot of time. Not super helpful for my handwritten recipes, but very useful for digital ones. I wish the same feature existed for uploading prices.

Reasons for switching to meez

This is easier, allows me to scale and cost, is more specific to recipes, and I can send copies to people outside the organization as a PDF.

A Game Changer for Training and Efficiency

We love meez. I love that our staff already can't seem to live without it. I am extremely grateful for how easy it is for them to use. It will also streamline training in a big way. We will eventually add photos and videos to recipes, making it easier for new staff to execute a new recipe with less supervision.

Pros:

The most impactful feature of meez is the ability to quickly and accurately scale our recipes to any quantity needed. We make pies, cupcakes, and lots of recipes based on the number of servings. That we can easily change the recipe amounts to accommodate this makes us more efficient and saves us the headache of doing the math ourselves. Introducing this software to our staff was so easy. We purchased a few tablets for each staff member and everyone immediately goes to meez instead of our paper recipes. Recipes are accessible from literally anywhere rather than from a physical binder kept at one location.

Cons:

We would love to see meez get turned into a more cohesive app for our tablets. Though the browser interface works well enough, it can be slow to respond or clunky when trying to make edits on a tablet.

Easy to use. Helps us price items accurately. Gives everyone in the kitchen easy access to recipes.

Cons:

We would like to be able to see which users made changes to recipes, what changes were made, and on what date. It would be nice to see previous versions of a recipe.

We love it. Probably the most effective tool we’ve used in our kitchen. We plan on franchising and Meez has been a huge part in developing our kitchen systems

How easy it is to edit recipes as well as have real time cost information

Cons:

I would love a check off option on recipes. It would be helpful for inexperienced employees who get easily distracted and lose their place when putting together recipes.

MEEZ is the employee we never thought we needed!

MEEZ has been worth every dollar. I highly recommend this software to any restaurant that needs to have insight into their food costs. Whenever I have a question, Customer Service is quick to respond and it's helpful that they have how-to videos.

Having software that can easily update our food cost is critical to running a successful kitchen.

Cons:

We're a licensed/franchised restaurant. It's great that we can customize which recipes the licensee needs to have access to. It'd be helpful if they could also see what the food cost is and the margin. Added equipment to recipes is a new feature and would be great if we could run an equipment report to see which and how many recipes use each tool.

It’s intuitive. Rarely have I needed to seek support and when I do it’s very quick I get a response. It used to take me at least a week to cost a new menu and have training manuals recipe books allergen guides etc. now it’s all one step and I can do it in a day.

Cons:

I have a few ideas on how to improve meez by adding on features but there is no clear con in my mind.

Price for one. But also competing company didn’t execute promised actions after months of promising they would.

Pros:

I like the cloud based aspect and ability to access recipes anywhere. I lie the simple template for recipes and straightforward design. The scaling feature is great.

Cons:

In recipe ingredient list I wish you could add a percentage for a ingredient amount that is not changed when scaling a recipe. Oftentimes we will use a percentage as an amount and that should not change when scaling a recipe up or sown, a % stays the same. I would like to be able to digitally download all of my recipes.

uploading/creating recipes is very quick. Pre-existing data is extremely useful. Simplifies recipe writing and sharing.

Cons:

The concept of "concepts" was confusing for hotel people. We want to have recipes for several outlets in 1 hotel/location. We also want to be able to build "menus" in the program. for example 1 outlet/restaurant in a hotel may have 4-5 different menus, ie. breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour, brunch, etc. would be nice to build these menus using the recipes you've created. I suppose the same can be done with "recipe books". Also, it would be nice to have more viewers included in membership.

Follow the Recipe!!

Meez allows us to track invoices weekly (Vendor Management) to ensure we are costing menus properly.

During this inflationary period it is critical to know exactly where you stand on core cost - Meez tracks invoices weekly allowing you to stay on top of menu pricing.

Cons:

The only feature missing is the ability to track whole menu cost.
