About Mixpanel

Mixpanel is a product analytics solution that helps businesses gain insights into audience behavior and track customer journeys. It enables managers to convert leads into customers, generate custom reports, build funnels, view top user flows, create cohorts in bulk and automate workflows via a unified platform.

It offers a variety of features such as A/B testing, audience targeting, conversion tracking, data visualization, statistical analysis and more. Mixpanel allows employees to create and manage campaigns and calculate conversion rates. Additionally, it lets administrators build custom dashboards, receive alerts for product updates and monitor products' key performance indicators (KPIs).

Mixpanel comes with an application programming interface (API), which facilitates integration with several third-party platforms such as AB Tasty, Alooma, Apptimize, Branch Metrics, Chartio, Google Cloud Platform, Intercom and more. The platform is available to users for free and on monthly subscriptions. Support is extended via phone and email.

Mixpanel is a must go for every app. Easy to start with.

Overall Mixpanel is a great tool. 1. Tracks users from apps. 2. Track user journeys. 3. Advanced reports. 4. Easy to integrate with backend to pull in events.

1. Easy to integrate. 2. Identity merge is great for people using same device with multiple users. 3. Accurately tracks user journeys, phone properties etc. 4. Reports are easy to make.

Cons:

1. Sometimes due to technical issues, multiple users get created despite identity merge being enabled. 2. They keep changing there free plan limit and overall plan is quite costly for paid feature.

Reasons for choosing Mixpanel

Had already used mixpanel in 3 other products, free plan was a good option to start with and they also gave 50K in credits to use over 2 years.

Pros:

Mixpanel is best user tracking tool I have experienced. With Mixpanel, you can tell the last location a user used your product from, last action, last login - You can track so many things with it.

Cons:

Mixpanel is very expensive from my experience but then I guess it is so because it is a very good software.

Great Analytics tool for Decision Making

It was a great product we use it on daily bases to track the user activity on our site and based on the research we plan our future goals.

1. It is highly useful for those products which are based on customer service over web like hotel bookings, resume creation, etc. 2. You can easily create your own events for evey page or action and track user experience on mixpanel that where are they mostly using and viewing on their site which helps in decision making to upgrade their products. 3. You can easily access the mixpanel data form anywhere just login to mixpanel site and you can see the realtime data. 4. It is also easy to implement on the source code of products . We just need to include one script and we are able to add events where ever we like to define.

Cons:

Sometimes we face issue in profiling of the users.

User analytics for the masses

Used at a couple of organizations now who have implemented it in very different ways. Both times I have been responsible for implementation. I feel like the 2nd time went better and that might be a testament to the UI.

Super flexible and simple to pick up, making user interaction analytics self-serve as much as possible

The level of smart alerts were annoying - they should be dynamic. You can set a threshold but that threshold won't move based on a variable

Mixpanel gave us a tighter feedback loop on feature usage.

Mixpanel enabled us to easily test whether a new module we had developed was providing value, based on the actual activities of our users not only feedback forms. We tuned rollout strategies much more quickly than previously.

We use Mixpanel to slice and dice event data by user segments and to graph behavior trends over time. We used the retention reports to identify which features were associated with long-term engagement.

Cons:

The UI can become crowded with too many custom events, and it took some work to get consistent naming decisions across the team.

It is a very intuitive tool, and in just a matter of minutes, you can obtain fascinating graphs and results without a steep learning curve.

Cons:

It is important that your platform/website clearly defines the events you want to export in order to be able to exploit them later; this requires prior work.
