About Upsolver

Upsolver unlocks the value of business data by streamlining ETL operations and automating labor-intensive data engineering work. Analysts and developers can manage complex data structures such as IoT, app activity and server logs through a visual interface and SQL.

Upsolver supports data lake ingestion from streaming sources (Kafka, AWS Kinesis), databases and object storage (AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage). A variety of data lake storage best practices are applied automatically including conversion to Parquet, partitioning on S3, and merging of small files. Businesses can transform and aggregate streaming data, including nested JSON, using a simple SQL statement or visual interface. Engineers can join multiple streaming sources and historical big data for analytics and machine learning, including stateful transformations.

Upsolver allows users to send the transformed data to various destinations such as query engines (Athena, Presto), data warehouses (Redshift, MySQL), machine learning tools (SageMaker) or real-time applications via REST API.

Pros:

Handles 10s of TBs easily. The data is aggregated very reliably. The stream is updated on a near real time basis. Great customer service.

Cons:

Some features require a 1:1 explanation session, cause they're not easy to understand. The team is really responsive though, so it's not a big problem.

Cons:

A relatively long study time, The system is still in development so with time there are more options so you need some patience, but you can say that every problem I had was resolved quickly

Pros:

Can handle very large amounts of data (10's of terabytes) reliably with ease and is overall a very powerful product to use. Also has fantastic customer service.

Cons:

Although the customer service is great, it may be necessary to consult them multiple times while trying to figure out some of the more powerful features of Upsolver.
