Astah UML allows users to create a wide range of UML diagrams like use case diagrams, class diagrams, sequence diagrams, state machine diagrams, activity diagrams, and more. It has an intuitive drag-and-drop interface to quickly model software elements and relationships. Astah UML integrates with Microsoft Excel allowing users to link diagrams with Excel data.

    The product is great for creating and managing UML models, it has the necessary diagrams for the requirements gathering, analysis and validation phase of software development process. It also has database modeling with export options, which is a great feature.

    The product is easy to install, learn to use, manage. It has a very friendly user interface and is portable to different operating systems.
    Cons:
    I hope that in the future the product will have more options for exports to other programming languages, such as PHP and Python.

    I like the way he manages to lay out the diagrams.
    Cons:
    The insertion of information in diagrams will be rigid, having to resort many times to the settings bar for insertion.

    Although the use of the tool can be used for "free", Astah manages to bring better ways of working with projects, where it organizes diagrams better and manages to bring a more interesting look, despite being less intuitive than its competitor.

    This software has been valuable in helping me understand how coding accomplishes design. With Astah, as a student, I moved from writing hacky code that seldom met all requirements to having a structured approach with a strong modeling tool. Great for planning testing too!
