About XG Firewall

XG Firewall is a network security solution that helps businesses streamline endpoint detection and response, firewall security and compliance management operations. The application enables employees to detect cyber threats, block suspicious applications and assess data breach risks via a unified platform.

It lets administrators isolate a compromised network host to prevent data leakage, malware or virus spread and hacker communication. Features of XG Firewall include data synchronization, access control, security management, analytics, email tracking, auditing and more. Additionally, it allows IT teams to trigger an automated response with dynamic firewall rules and lateral movement protection to identified threats.

XG Firewall comes with an application programming interface (API), which lets businesses integrate the system with several third-party endpoint security management platforms. Hanging issue is occurred any time, end user face issues so its hard to resolve quickly.

I like the power of the tool, it's granularity and general ease of use

Cons:

Their dashboards are not useful other than to tell you there is an issue but not where or why, you have to know your way around the product to get any meaningful data from it. Their support is terrible, often you get multiple follow up emails from different people who don't, won't read the notes of the last person and in order to kick the ticket along will send you steps you've already tried and shown to not resolve the issue. When you do finally close the issue, you get constant emails asking if they can close the ticket. Their departments do not talk to one another which leads to confusion all round and a ticket that never seems to close and then constant requests for surveys on how they did over and over even if you complete one.

Sohpos have a very bad customer service. When you will on the toll-free number that is only for ticket generation they will not provide support. After your ticket generation they will call you 10 to 12 days later for your query or solution. I am totally unsatisfied from the services

functionality is not good everything is not working unfunctional. Firmware is too slow. login takes too much time

Great Product, easy implementation, excellent service, offers tier 2 support for extra fee

Protect Endpoints, Servers, and Users from bad guys. Implementation was very easy using the implementation support we purchased, has great feature set and value for the money compared to competitors, tier 2 support is great, although the engineers have thick accents.

I like the tier 2 support, which was well worth the extra cost, they have been able to solve issues fairly quickly. Has everything we need to protect our users and endpoints. This is a zone based firewall. We went from having about 300 firewall policies on the Cisco Meraki to about 125 on the Sophos. Implementation was very straightforward with the implementation support.

Cons:

Lacks Azure AD for SSO support, lacks secure DNS support, the Multifactor implementation for the SSL VPN needs work (requires you to enter the MFA code as part of the password, would rather have an MFA box to enter the code instead), the technical support engineers while highly capable to assist with issues have heavy accents making it difficult to understand them

Reasons for choosing XG Firewall

Price/features, value for the money. The Palo Alto checked off every box for features (including the ones lacking for this product), but was considerably overpriced and way outside our budget.

Reasons for switching to XG Firewall

Cisco Meraki is the worst firewall ever created. it is very expensive, lacks critical features, has horrible support, and is very expensive and has very poor value for the money. Sophos XGS firewall solve all of these problems for a reasonable price.

Pretty powerfull for what you get

Absolutly fine, configuring certain features and getting used to the way Sophos does things can take time but once you know your way round the interface it's fine.

Some nice changes in version 19 compared to previous versions makes it alot easier to use and manage - sophos central has improved a ton for management.

Cons:

HA failover can be a little slow in certain scenarios, local DNS server options are non existent and support is alot better through resellers.The onboard Wireless controller is really lacking options compared to managing them through Sophos Central

We've been running Sophos UTM's for years and it was a natural upgrade path, doing the first few migrations with our VAR were very smooth along with the knowledge transfer to do the rest.

Pay for what you get... Sort of

We've gone from a single firewall to 11 across multiple locations. They have done right by us.That said, in 2022&2023 they raised their product pricing multiple times with 2023 being a much higher than inflation pricing. I think they need to reconsider this level of price increase considering they are not yet competing in the top tier of firewall manufacturers.We will most likely stay a customer of theirs but I don't see as many new customers because of this price hike. If there is any more price increases we will most likely start looking around.One last thing on pricing. I rated this review solely on our purchased amount for firewalls. If we had it to do over again at this new pricing, it would have been more like a 2.5-3 star rating.

The feature set of their firewall product line was a great value and I also use their free home product at home because I am that type of IT nerd.

Cons:

Going into the product I knew it wasn't considered a top tier product. Over the last few years they have made really good improvements but they didn't do the best at providing free training on these changes.The VPN client is adequate but needs to be enhanced to what others are capable of for multifactor. Their token based option to me is just OK.

Its an easy to use firewall with excellent support. If you have used Cyberoam before then you will this product similar to use.

Cons:

The overall application is good , however you may notice that the device takes time to respond when clicked on an icon. This may improve eventually with firmware upgrades.

The cyberoam product, formerly known as Sophos, is a simple product to integrate with other easy-to-use products for the IT department. The interface performance of the system allows you to see everything.

Cons:

You can write detailed security rules in Sophos. If you synchronize with the Endpoint product, you will provide even more detailed user security.
