Simple, yet robust solution for leave management

I've introduced Calamari to two of my companies for leave management. Both times it worked perfectly, all the managers found this tool very helpful and it gave everyone good visibility on people's availability.

Calamari - Leave Management System

The support staff at Calamari were extremely helpful in assisting with the set-up of our leave system. We did a trial period before we continued with Calamari and their support staff were always and ready to assist with any query. Now that we have subscribed to Calamari, their support staff are still as diligent and helpful as in the beginning, which has been really nice. They also continue to troubleshoot problems and try and find effective ways to deal with these issues.

As we have staff based in China and staff based in South Africa, it was important for us to find a leave system that worked for all staff across the board taking their different holidays and work days into consideration. Staff can now apply for leave and manage this directly, instead of having to ask someone in South Africa to do it.

Cons:

Some of the functions we had during the trial period disappeared as different sections in the Leave Management Sections are paid for individually. It would have been nice if the subscription price could include all the available sections in the Calamari Leave Management system at a lowered rate and then have the sections available for those who wanted them individually.

Reasons for switching to Calamari

The China staff could not use the Leaveboard system effectively and the system did not cater for all our needs. In some areas, it was more complicated than it needed to be.

The platform is very easy to use and we have been able to implement to the business easily. Disappointed to lose some functionality with the HR module

wfm functionality is poor. We have attempted to use the timekeeping module with great frustration. the functionality for scheduling breaks etc is poor

What I liked most about Calamari is its clarity and transparency, as well as the clean, intuitive interface. I also appreciate the quick response and support whenever any issues arise.

Cons:

It’s hard to say, because compared to other systems I’ve used before, Calamari is by far the best. If I had to point out something, maybe there are quite a lot of rules and configurations, which I don’t always manage to handle on my own - but luckily, the team is always quick to help.

Reasons for switching to Calamari

We switched to this platform mainly because the previous one was not very intuitive - employees often complained about usability issues, there were many errors, and it was impossible to configure things independently. We also wanted to have electronic leave requests, which was an important factor in the change.

Best time off management system

Excellent. 10 stars from start to finish. It is the best time off management system out there. The support in the setup and ongoing and the ease of management of the system is top class.

Support is AMAZING - professional, responsive, helpful and willing. Whenever there was a concern they were there to assist.

Cons:

Very complex - not clear in balances remaining. Would prefer for this to be shown in a simple and clear manner.

Please note above answer should be Payspace - there was no option to select this. There were loopholes in the system that opened up abuse and it was not user friendly.

user friendly, easy, readable for user. Multiple options. We use it only to count the working hours and to control do holidays, absences - For these to the price is affordable.

reports. To many options showing very little data. No reports showing activities filtered by projects. Few errors happening from time to time
