Sunbird DCIM is a cloud-based IT asset management and data center infrastructure management (DCIM) solution for businesses of all sizes. It serves various industries, including healthcare, finance, industrial, technology and utilities. Core users of the software are IT professionals and data center facility managers. The key features of Sunbird DCIM are asset, capacity, connectivity, change, energy and environmental management.

Sunbird DCIM allows customers to manage their data centers with attention paid to constantly changing business needs. It provides data center optimization that also increases the lifecycle of physical assets.

The asset management module provides a real-time view of the components of the data center, which can include servers, storage, patch panels and networking equipment. The centralized database features all connection and capacity information and allows users to monitor resource usage. Sunbird DCIM also offers custom dashboards and workflow automation tools.

Sunbird DCIM is available on a monthly subscription basis that includes support through an online knowledge base, tutorials and live chat.

Very capable Data Center Infrastructure Mangement tool that is backed by a customer oriented team

Sunbird DCIM is a versatile tool that adds considerable value to a company that is looking to modernize the management of data center information, processes, and health. Integration of Sunbird with other company or enterprise tools presents a huge opportunity for return-on-investment when assessing a reduction in manual labor of data custodianship.

Pros:

The customer support is responsive and helpful through the process of tool adoption and migration. They were able to provide consultation on how to best address requirements of our internal processes and data needs. The cost model for the tool is simple and linearly scales with our hardware footprint.

Cons:

At the time of this review, Sunbird DCIM is not available to be deployed as a containerized application which was not ideal for our on-premises usage. Sunbird DCIM does have a High Availability automated fail-over feature to provide some comparable benefits in terms of resiliency. Software that seeks to assist with the management and health of critical data center infrastructure should be up-to-date with the most modern software technology, particularly to address requirements of resiliency and performance.

Strongest positive customer facing support and cost model was well suited to the needs of the company. Most of the out of the box features satisfied the immediate requirements of our company.

Excellent DCIM with Excellent Support

My experience has been excellent - the few issues or questions I've had are quickly and thoroughly answered. The feature set covers everything I need in a DCIM much more comprehensively than other solutions I've evaluated.

Pros:

Sunbird is a comprehensive and excellent DCIM solution. It's excellent and integration with existing CMDB platforms (such as ServiceNOW), and support is excellent and quick to respond to feature and new model requests.

Cons:

The interface could be a little more intuitive, though in fairness excellent training is provided to familiarize you with the interface and functionality concepts.

My favorite gesture of sunbird DCIM is the visualization. The 3d view of the datacenter is so helpful when looking up space and placement. Also love the ability to showcase this in presentations as it brings a “wow” factor.

Cons:

I don’t like that certain asset fields are static and can’t be changed. But I do understand why they are.

PowerIQ is admin's best friend, dcTrack is best to comfort revisors and auditors

(x) Support is over-average (x) new releases have a high quality, we always wait a few month until implementing a new release and in the last two years we never had an issue after a release upgrade

New hardware devices are ready be monitored in seconds. Management of hundreds of hardware devices such PDUs and sensors lost it's complexity. PowerIQ superseded our Nagios Installation for all hardware-related devices. It becomes more and more our primary trap host.

Cons:

Compared to PowerIQ setup of dcTrack is complex. Integration of PowerIQ an dcTrack could be easier to use. (License) Price for integration of USVs into PowerIQ is definitely to high, as a result we do not monitore our several USVs via PowerIQ

(x) PowerIQ offers the best integration for Raritan hardware. The decision for Raritan Hardware and PowerIQ have been made at the same time. (x) dcTrack for use is a nice extension to PowerIQ but our focus is PowerIQ

Sunbird dcTrack Great Training Backed by Responsive Support

Our license plan included a 10-rack buildout, and our trainer, [sensitive content hidden] , has done an excellent job guiding us through all aspects of Sunbird dcTrack. He has patiently answered extensive questions and spent many hours in live sessions helping our team become more comfortable with the platform. Additionally, Sunbird’s customer service team has been extremely responsive to submitted tickets and consistently follows up until issues are fully resolved.

Pros:

We use dcTrack as a one-stop shop to reduce the manual effort of maintaining spreadsheets. It saves us significant time during audits, troubleshooting, and project planning. Beyond our initial goals, it has exceeded expectations by enabling accurate tracking of customer racks and allowing us to set detailed, role-based permission levels.

Cons:

It would be beneficial to have licensing options based on the amount of equipment within a rack, rather than paying for a full rack license when only a few devices are installed. That said, Sunbird has been very accommodating and proactive in helping us explore alternative solutions to manage and reduce our overall licensing costs.

Great DCIM product!

Thus far DCIM has been great. Fulfills our requirements for monitoring. Basically a single pane of glass for our data center management.

Pros:

Ease of updates/new models library/product releases. Setup and installation are easy. The customer support is excellent! User interface is intuitive.

Cons:

At the moment, there is not a con about the product(s). We have been using Sunbird for years without any interruption.

SunBird - A Sensible and Easy Approach to DCIM

My overall experience was excellent. The technical and accounting staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. SunBird allowed us with a installation, configuration and was very helpful to answer our questions. They provide free training after the implementation. The documentation and the training videos are excellent.

Our team finds SunBird solution easier to use compared to Nlyte, no need for double entry between tools. Import templates are easy to use. No need to pay for upgrades and it is really easy to upgrade without vendor support. Weekly webinars and other videos are nice for the team to learn the tool on their own pace. The price of the software is considerably lower that other software. The technical support goes above and beyond.

Cons:

Since we are doing a POC, we have not come across any cons. We have not used the reporting function yet.

Which the tool could do some targeted discovery. But I am hopeful that with future integration with AI tools it will get there.
