About Donately

Donately is a cloud-based fundraising tool for small to midsize nonprofit organizations of all types. It offers customizable donation forms, peer-to-peer fundraising pages, reporting tools and a mobile-friendly interface.

Users can create custom donation forms and embed them in existing websites, as well as create campaign pages. A donor dashboard allows donors can manage their donations, download receipts and build peer fundraising pages. Automatic email receipts are sent for each donation.

Reporting tools allow users to view donation amounts and other campaign data displayed in graphs and charts. Account administrators can give fundraisers access to their metrics and overall campaign performance. The Donately API also allows users to integrate with other software such as Intercom, MailChimp and SalesForce.

Pricing is a percentage of funds raised. Email support and an online knowledge base are available.

A good option for a small nonprofit

We have used Donately for ten years now and haven't had any major issues. I appreciate being able to set up and save reports, campaign pages, and easily view recurring donation information. It is also fairly simple to help donors adjust their payment information and other details.

Donately has a lot of great features without being overwhelming and it is at a good price point for our nonprofit.

Cons:

Sometimes the integration with our email system is problematic, but that isn't necessarily an issue with Donately.

Easy to get started with real results

We had an account manager we could reach out to and felt supported. There were no surprise upcharges or multi-year contracts you may get with other vendors.

Pros:

Donately has all the features you would want in a fundraising platform in a streamlined, intuitive interface. We were able to be up and running very quickly to launch an online end of year campaign. Highly recommend.

Cons:

I would like to see them expand some functionality in their reporting. For example we could easily view the Average gift, but when you have one large gift that throws that off, the Median would be better to report on.

Pros:

The advantage of Donately is the simplicity of form builder! While the software is easy to use, it also contains almost all the essential functionality you could want form a donation form. Forms integrate easily into webpages without much hassle. Campaign management usually works well.

Cons:

The donor reporting and management system is insufficient for most purposes. Integrations are not as robust as they could be for the product. Support can be slow moving.

Pros:

Our organization started using Donately a few years ago, and it has been a great experience. The main reason we switched to them is that their donation form does a great job capturing international donations, even if the donor has a complex billing address. Our old processor would sometimes decline credit card donations if the billing address wasn't perfectly formatted, whereas Donately has helped us capture those donations more reliably - resulting in a much larger donor base over time.

Cons:

Their campaigns feature isn't very intuitive in my opinion, and charging an annual fee in addition to the transaction fees seems excessive.

Donately has been particularly helpful in streamlining our gift processing and improving overall data hygiene. The platform’s clean interface, customizable forms, and automated workflows have dramatically reduced manual entry and errors. Real-time reporting and easy integrations have allowed our team to spend less time wrestling with spreadsheets and more time cultivating relationships, stewarding donors, and planning campaigns strategically.

Their customer service is amazing. They are helpful and quick with their responses. They are also always improving.

Cons:

I think the sign-in process with the captcha code can be a little finicky at times. It can take more than one attempt to get the verification right, especially when the captcha is hard to read or decipher.

Very easy learning curve and high functionality. Fundraising campaigns work seamlessly, and it's easy to create forms and imbed them onto webpages.

Cons:

There is no longer things we "like least" about Donately, as functions that we previously wish they had have been added and updated.

I love it so far. I have tried many other platforms and Donately was by far my favorite. The simplicity of it is so nice for a small org like ours.

It was super easy to set up. I was able to get everything set up and integrated with in an hour. The donate page was on my website and across social media way faster I dreamed of.

Cons:

I would like a little more customization on the campaign pages. It is a very standard page that looks good but I had a few preferences that didn't make or break it for but would have been nice.

Pros:

As the founder of a new nonprofit with almost no past experience, Donately was a valuable discovery. It has proven to be an easy to use platform for both me and my donors. Information provided is well organized and not difficult to access.

Cons:

Pulling reports was a little challenging for me at first. However, that probably had more to do with my limited technical skills rather the Donately platform.
