About NewOrg

NewOrg is a configurable cloud-based solution designed to help small and midsize nonprofits manage donors, volunteers, marketing efforts, events and grant management in an integrated suite. It's suitable for veteran organizations, homeless services, environmental organizations, outpatient treatment centers and more.

NewOrg enables users to collect information for reporting, manage volunteer activities and promote events. Other tools help users to create and manage programs, run outcome reports, track activity signups and scheduling, manage communications, take surveys, manage fundraising activities and create development campaigns.

The payment processing module allows users to add donation buttons to existing websites. Users can enter donations in bulk, as well as post or export data to QuickBooks, FundEasy or Excel. Donations are tracked by campaign, event, class, staff member and more, and NewOrg can manage multiple financial accounts. Other features include document management, grant management, email distribution and an organization calendar.

NewOrg is priced per user and is billed on an annual or monthly subscription basis.

best mid-market option

The best solution for us at the moment in our price range. As we grow we'll begin looking for something a bit more robust at a higher price.

Pros:

This isn't the best NGO management software out there, but it is definitely the best option at it's pricing tier. It enables overall management of the many moving parts of an NGO. The organization manual is an amazing feature--internal documentation is something no one ever has time to do. Reporting generation is also crucial. Customer service really makes NewOrg stand out.

Cons:

There's a few features that we feel are missing, in particular re: internal communication platform options and data import. Other features could be improved upon, especially the report generation function and the donor module.

Pros:

The NewOrg platform is incredibly flexible. We are not their "typical" client, but they were able to customize their platform to accommodate all the quirks of our non-profit's programs, including building 3 custom portals for our stakeholders; building out custom, calculated fields that help us with our reporting; creating a variety of reports to answer the questions we need to be able to manage our programs and show our impact; and created custom solutions to help our team process client applications more accurately and more quickly. Additionally, most of those items (except the portals) were created in hours to days - not weeks to months like the other systems we have used. When we submit tickets, they are usually resolved in less than a day, and if not possible, they let us know when it will be complete. Implementation couldn't have been more collaborative, thought-provoking, focused, fun (yes actually fun!), and productive. It was truly a joy to implement this system and that's something I've never said before.

Cons:

We had a few items that we'd like to customize but can't, but none are dealbreakers. I love the reports and dashboards, they're a huge upgrade over our prior system, but a few more customization options, summation options, and visualization updates would go a long way.

Cost of implementation, flexibility of the software, complexity (e.g., we can customize/adapt some things ourselves without requiring a developer), and a demonstrated proof of concept with similar clients.

Reasons for switching to NewOrg

The system was inflexible, we had really poor/nearly no access to our data for reporting, we had no dashboard/summation capabilities, customer service was really poor (weeks to months for any changes) and most importantly, the design of the database was flawed - clients did not have unique IDs, so each application gave the client a new ID, so we couldn't report on clients year over year.

Pros:

Overall, NewOrg has worked well for us. It has a lot of customization, the customer service is excellent, and the reporting function works well. I think it's the best option if you don't want to spend a ton of money building a system from scratch.

Cons:

There are some features we wish NewOrg had, such as the ability to mass text our participants and better events functionality.

NewOrg has been an outstanding tool for managing our donors and strengthening our fundraising efforts. The system was already in place when I joined the organization, and I was immediately impressed by how well-structured it is from a donor-management perspective. The reporting features are particularly valuable, providing clear, actionable insights into donor lifecycle, engagement levels, and our overall donor pipeline. Whether I’m looking at individual relationships or reviewing aggregate, year-over-year trends, NewOrg makes it easy to understand where we’ve been, where we are, and where the opportunities are. The platform streamlines tasks that are often scattered across multiple tools, saving time and improving accuracy. Everything from tracking interactions to monitoring giving history feels integrated and thoughtfully designed for nonprofit work.

Cons:

Honestly, this platform streamlines our donor management and increases efficiencies across the entire process. I don't see any single place where we would be better off without the system.

We cannot say enough positive praise about New Org. The entire onboarding team and support team have been responsive, communicative, and incredibly collaborative through the process. From hearing our specific needs and supporting overall scoping, to determining feasibility of wishlist items and how it would impact other parts of our portal integration, the team has been true partners from start to finish. Everything we ask for has been truly vetted, tested, and provided, and the ongoing support through the quick response to their ticket support system has been efficient. We are very happy with this system and truly cannot express enough how transformative the integration of New Org has been for our organization.

New Org has provided incredible transparency into the fiscal health of our organization, as wall as our current status. The real-time reporting, quick support responses to tickets, integration with other systems, and user-friendly functionality has been transforming our ability to provide urgent assistance needs to our clients, and to provide excellent customer service.

Cons:

There is nothing not working to meet the needs of our organization within New Org. They have truly catered the platform to meet our unique program needs, and we have worked collaboratively to continue to expand our platform to better support our stakeholders.

This was decided prior to my start with the organization, however it sounds like Hancock was not customizable or able to provide the needed real-time reports or prioritization of application review, etc we were looking for. It also was much more expensive.

Feature-Rich, Affordable, and Mission-Aligned

If we could do it all over again, we would pick NewOrg. It was the only platform that met our unique organizational needs and our budget. The personalized onboarding process was a surprising bonus that we didn't expect.

As a nonprofit, we did a lot of research on softwares prior to choosing NewOrg. NewOrg fit our budget while also meeting all of our "wish list" features. We were thrilled with the onboarding process, which was personalized and interactive. A huge bonus is the ongoing support provided for a very reasonable cost after launch. The platform is easy to use, and any time we have questions, our dedicated support person is quick to respond.

Cons:

We initially sought a software that made it easier to build our own customized reports. However, it's very easy to submit a support ticket for a customized report, and the support team is very responsive.

NewOrg met both our budget needs and our unique organizational needs. No other group that we researched met both.

Great reliable and comprehensive solution for case management!

Everything went smoothly from initial onboarding meeting to the final call. Every interaction we had was great and positive. They stayed on our schedule and even quicker -- since we were in desperate need to get the project done. Even though we were working quickly, quality was not sacrificed!

I have had a fantastic experience with NewOrg! Their software is highly customizable and has significantly improved our client management system. Working with [sensitive content hidden] was great! He was attentive to our questions, concerns, and needs. He was always responsive, knowledgeable, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure we got the most out of the system!

Cons:

We were hesitant on the way the Scheduling feature looks, as it relates to what we were used to. However, once we use the Calendar platform more, it's become second nature for us and scheduling meetings!

Using our old platform was not as efficient. There was a lot of administrative work that needed to be done.

New Org is outstanding

Wonderful. Response time is unmatched. Several times when we ask for changes they literally update the platform during the meeting.

Customer service is unmatched. They find simple, elegant solutions to complex problems. Very fast response time. User friendly.

Cons:

N/A. Seriously no complaints here. Just putting words in here to fill the space minimum. We love NewOrg.

Hancock did not meet our needs and was very cumbersome for all users (clients and staff). Inconsistent financial reporting/ data. Could not check for duplicate applications and made a lot of extra work for our staff.

The one thing that I would say I like the least is that when importing data from our previous database there are several duplicates and I have to manually go through and clean that up.

Pros:

I appreciate that there is a public facing portal for the people we serve to better access resources and support. This feature will streamline our services. I appreciate the extra effort the implementation team took to create a specific portal for the social workers we partner with outside our organization to also support this process.

Cons:

We are still learning the reporting feature and what we can and cannot do on our own. While every request we've made has been met, I'm hoping become a better user of this system with the ability to independently pull information.

Apricot was very expensive with not enough features to do the case management work we needed.
