Building Official

Our experience with CityTech has been fantastic. The implementation team were great to work with and solution oriented. The most telling sign of how good CityTech was demonstrated by our Building Inspectors. While they are great inspectors, the are not super tech-savvy. However, they have been raving about how easy the online app and the iPad inspection module are to use, including the talk to text feature, and uploading photos.

Pros:

As a power user, I need to extract multiple reports. City Tech Permits allows you to run various reports based on data without limit! This is an exceptional feature. The software is intuitive and easy to use, it has been a little over a week since we have gone live, and are already receiving positive feedback from our development community!

Cons:

While CityTech Permits is integrated with Bluebeam Revu (plan check) and Tyler Munis (Financials), we are looking forward to them developing an integration with LaserFiche.

Reasons for choosing Permits

Because of how intuitive the software is, and flexibility with customer service. Customer service from City Tech Solutions is the best in the industry. They provide various ways to communicate, and the response time is within minutes. While they are not the largest company in the business, they far outshine the largest, where they genuinely care about their clients and business.

Reasons for switching to Permits

Tyler process set up was clunky, required too many clicks by staff to issue a simple reroof permit took 25+ minutes to issue

CityTech Solutions

The plan review solution allows us to coordinate the efforts of 12 different departments in one location. Departments in satellite locations around the city can access the system, review documents, provide approvals that otherwise would have required them to drive to City Hall to do saving time and manpower.

Pros:

The "all in one place" approach to permit records, inspections, plan review and fees places all the information in one location on one screen with buttons for access that do not remove the user from the record. Not having to move forward and backwards through the system chasing data is a tremendous time saver!

Cons:

There is very little that I dislike about the software.

Reasons for choosing Permits

EnerGov permitting was an enterprise solution and just seemed too big and expensive. Accela was too much like Kelly Permitting and we needed new and fresh ideas for record management.

Reasons for switching to Permits

While Kelly Permitting fulfilled a need at one time, the developers decided not to improve or upgrade the product. As our needs changed we had to look elsewhere for a solutions to our permitting needs.

Permit Software

Our largest success with this software was the online portal for submitting drawings and permit request. The system automatically builds the permit from the data supplied by the online user.

Pros:

The most frequent function I use is the search feature. Virtually every field on the permit record is searchable. In addition I can combine search criteria to narrow results to a pinpoint! The software is menu driven with many pre-populated fields that allow you to select items and not enter each required amount of data. The dashboard display is great! It shows graphics of the most required data for quick viewing.

Cons:

I would like to see the reporting system be expanded to allow more individual searches.

CityTech Software

The iPad feature allowing field inspectors to see a full view of the record instead of a scaled down version is a great value. Having all the information available cuts down on calls to the office and failed inspections due to insufficient information.

Pros:

The continuity from plan review to permitting to inspections to certificate of occupancy is contained in a single record. The data for the project is easily accessible for the inspectors. The integrated maps allow a street view of the structure to be inspected making it easier to find. The permit tech and building official have instant access to record updates when changes are made on a record to answer contractor questions.

Cons:

In some of areas of our county cell signals are spotty and connectivity can be difficult.

Daily Cash Receipts reporting in the Finance Department is extremely helpful. As the city needs back up documentation for historical purposes; the standardized reporting features has the capability to capture what the user needs. If not, the Customer Support Team will assist and show you how to obtain the reporting required.

Pros:

The process was a smooth transition. The reports are user friendly. The Customer Support is outstanding. Instant response to questions, concerns, very patient and professional at all times. The software also has the reporting feature for quarterly reporting to the State which automatically summarizes what is needed for reporting purposes instantly. For Cash Receipts, the summary reports form CityTech, is very efficient has increased our productivity as we are now able to utilize these reports in a timely fashion.

Cons:

All the reports, and concerns were addressed with CityTech Permits. Most of our questions they had a solution and were taken care of. The standardized reporting features are user friendly. Any question(s) they arise we always get Customer Service Response instantly on the same day.

Improved communication between Planning, Building and the applicant. One of the many perks were I was able to be very well organized, see when projects were due, and if any pending items were required.

Cons:

There were no issues with the software very easy to use.
