5pm Saves Time, Money, and Effort

I knew about 5pm when I started my own business three years ago because I'd used it at my previous job, and for both businesses, I've found it a lifesaver. It makes scheduling, keeping up with jobs, and keeping in touch with the people assigned to jobs easy and even pleasant.

Pros:

It's intuitive to use, and makes it easy for me to keep track of multiple projects being handled by multiple people.

Cons:

It can get a little pricey for a very small business like mine, but there are ways to utilize it that keep the cost down.

Reasons for choosing 5pm

I've found other project management software to be frustrating and hard to use because the organization seemed counter-intuitive -- at least to the way my mind works. But 5pm makes *sense*, so there's hardly any learning curve, which means I can get on with work rather than spending a lot of time learning a new program. My employees pick it up quickly, too.

A best in class tool for small business project mgt

I have looked at dozens of project mgt tools to manage my editorial team, business development team, manage tasks and projects and have found none better than 5pm. It strikes the perfect balance between ease of use and necessary functionality.

Pros:

Just about everything. The interface is attractive and intuitive, and the tool does just everything I need it to manage a team of 14 editors and hundreds of projects through a sometimes-complex series of steps to ready a manuscript for publication. The ability to clone tasks without porting all the content is helpful, and I love the fast load times and super reliable cloud-based access from any computer. Document manament is very easy too.

Cons:

Only that there's no way (that I'm aware of, anyway) for users to confirm that they have received a message. A "like" button or something folks on the task team can click to confirm receipt and reading would be good.

Gets the job done.

I use this software to update my milestones and document changes when necessary. 5PM notifies the correspondent parties for me.

It allows for documenting projects and following up with individuals from the same portal. At the same time it allows you to save media files right where your project is.

Cons:

I did not like the interface, I think that it could do with a facelift to bring it into this decade.

Good system for team project management

Great - I loved it as a system, and it was very easy to learn.

Pros:

5pm offers great ability to create a variety of projects, assign various teams to those projects, and then assign workflows for those teams to follow. It's easy to pass the project off to the next necessary person, and the 5pm emails that you can set up make it easy to know when something is in your court. It's an easy interface to get to know from the outset too. The ability to chat with others within the system is a nice to have feature (not a must have in my opinion, but nice!), and I know many of my teammates used the time tracker feature too and loved it (though I did not).

Cons:

File storage wasn't my favorite, but not awful. I do not recall other big "cons."

Easy to use and collaborate with other people anywhere in the world

Cons:

The reports, I would like modify reports to fit my needs. The ability to mark tasks as "invoiced". I send invoices to my clients f.ex once a month, but some task are running for longer periods. I would like to mark the tasks I invoice that, and the rest of tasks unmarked. Next invoice I will know which tasks and how many hours I can bill my clients.

5PM Review

5PM takes exceptional institutional buy-in to be effective. If project managers aren't diligent with dates and specific in their assignments of tasks, then it creates more work and confusion than what it's worth.

I like how it aggregates tasks and sends you a daily to-do list.

Cons:

Regular tasks and parent tasks are confusing. I'd rather share files on a server or over email than load them to 5PM because doing so is easier and faster. 5PM is annoyingly slow unless you have a lightening fast internet connection.

The new interface is coming out soon. It handles large amount of data better and comes with a lot of small and big improvements, Please contact our support to have the new interface enabled for your account right away. Each user will be able to switch to and from the new interface at any time.

I use this everyday and it is a nice way to keep tabs on projects and circle back with our team who is working on these items.

Pros:

It is pretty easy to use. Does a nice job of keeping a team in the loop about a project and allows the team to follow along with either all projects or sort by just their own. The mobile app also does a nice job of allowing people to stay connected on the go.

Cons:

I have a few issues with the mobile app and sharing documents directly from the app. BUT, I have not sought support so that is my fault. If you have a large number of projects, the platform can get overwhelming. Just additional sorting features would be great.
