About Admin By Request

Admin By Request is a cybersecurity solution designed to make comprehensive security simple. Our main goal is to enable enterprises to lock down administrative privileges across all endpoints by revoking local admin rights - while still providing means for end users to gain elevated privileges when they need it.

Once local admin rights are removed based on user or group, end users are still able to gain elevated privileges when they need it via the self-service endpoint application.

Privileges can be elevated per app (single app elevation), or for a set period of time (session elevation). All elevated activity undertaken by the user while they have elevated privileges is logged in the Admin By Request Auditlog, which can be accessed via a user-friendly online Admin Portal.

Also accessible from the Admin Portal is a full hardware and software Inventory, customizable reports, features such as Break Glass (a LAPS-replacement feature for creating emergency local admin accounts), Device Owner, and Clean Up Local Admins, as well as all Settings and Sub-Settings, which allow organizations to create granular access control rules to tailor the software to their specific needs.

Easiest way to achieve zero-trust on your endpoints

Everything from pre-sales to purchasing and support has been a pleasure. We have in a very short time eliminated all local admin accounts on all endpoints (including the previously fixed ones, used by IT-support).

Easy and fast deployment, great feature set (including mobile apps for admins, break glass accounts, integrated SSO (and MFA), AI approval) its all something we did't have before, and its made our security posture and administration of local admin permissions so much easier. From purchase to fully implemented a total of 2 weeks passed, including testing.

Cons:

None i can think of really, it does what it does great.

Ease of Use, Works, Customer Support. Everything is very straight forward and well organized. Things work as intended. Customer support is prompt and very knowledgeable

Cons:

Could be slightly better on the Mac end, but they are working on it. Currently Mac does not allow teh remote access feature as part of the product, but I know its on their roadmap

A Must Have Solution in 2024

Admin By Request has been in place for over 2 years. It really simplified our IT management, empowered our users to perform their own software updates and software installations for allowed software. It has reduced our IT tickets significantly and overall made us much more secure as an organization.

The simplicity of setting it up and the ease of approvals with a variety of approval methods available. We chose to use the Teams Webhook for approval review. Our users didn't even notice they no longer had admin rights, their software just worked and updated!

Cons:

The pin code process is tedious to find the machine and enter the PIN. Aside from that, it's an incredible product.

The fact that we can use it offline fits perfectly with some of our use cases

Cons:

It doesn't detect automatically every UAC pop-up. For example, if I click on an executable that requires admin rigths, it just prompts me with the UAC and I need to click "Run as Admin" specifically for ABR to be triggered.

My overall experience with Admin By Request has been highly positive. The 25 free licenses truly allowed us to test the product thoroughly without any pressure. Its setup is straightforward. The sales and technical support teams are exceptional, readily available to answer any queries. This tool has significantly saved time for my Helpdesk in handling installation or configuration requests and has empowered users to be more self-reliant in their installation or settings adjustment requests. The inclusion of reports and automations powered by machine learning and AI enhances its efficiency. Additionally, the offer of 25 free lifetime licenses is highly appreciated, providing ample time to thoroughly test the product. The software agent is impressively lightweight, minimizing resource consumption. Furthermore, the offline mode proves extremely useful for complex remote support scenarios.

Cons:

the interface for creating different policies based on groups could be more intuitive. The user rights management should also be simplified into roles for easier comprehension and application. The server version operates unpredictably at times, indicating a need for improvement.

An excellent system for ESports Computer Management

When I started, I was pulling my hair out trying to manage requests for game updates while also keeping our network secure and preventing unnecessary access. Admin By Request has allowed our ESports program to be self sufficient within a certain bubble that gives them what they need without compromising our network's security. Pricing per end point is reasonable, and the 25 free initial endpoints is a great deal if you are wanting to try it out, or are looking to manage a small number of computers.

I can actively monitor a deployment of computers used for our ESports computer labs, enable updating of game clients, whitelist specific applications needed and inventory our computers, all from my desk.

Cons:

The mobile app while useful seems to be buggy and sometimes an afterthought. Requests get stuck when approved from a push notification, and sometimes the app requires closing to refresh the queue.

Admin by Request is very user friendly and solved a big pain for us in IT. The price structure is fair and we do get a fine value for our money. The onboarding and introduction to the software was great, and if we need help, the support team are ready to answer our questions.

Cons:

It is hard to find any cons. The software deliver what it promises and is quickly accepted by most of our users.
