About ClassTag

ClassTag is a communication platform that helps schools improve teacher-parent engagement. The cloud-based software provides tools for schools to send meeting invites, messages, announcements, videos and pictures all in one place.

It offers smart messaging that can automatically translate messages into multiple languages based on preference, deliver messages as SMS or email and is compatible with all available platforms. Additionally, users get timely reminders for various events with notifications of key dates. Teachers and parents can utilize ClassTag to receive automatic follow-ups regarding various events.

ClassTag integrates with G-Suite which enables users to use Google Meet to conduct meetings, Google Calendar to mark important events on ClassTag, Google Drive to share documents and other tools. It is available for free of cost and support is extended via video tutorials, FAQs and online documentation.

Pros:

I really liked the communication piece and how easy it was to set up. I also like the ability to earn points and use points for items I needed for my classroom.

Cons:

After a while I was needed more and more points to get gift cards or supplies from their “store” it became unrealistic.

Reasons for switching to ClassTag

I switched for the time being back to Class Dojo because I liked the student interaction and management piece.

A bit much

Class tag seemed really good at first. I switched from ClassDojo thinking it would be a better experience and be more professional and easier. It ended up being more confusing and irritating to use. I would definitely recommend not using it for elementary school and I said using something like ClassDojo or remind.

At first, I love the way that this software looked. It wasn’t overwhelming and seemed professional looking.

Cons:

My least favorite thing about this software was how there were ads in the class story area. There seem to be too much going on, and it wasn’t simple to use.

You get what you pay for...in this case, very little

From day 1 I've had problems communicating with ClassTag. [sensitive content hidden], my support contact, was condescending and dismissive. The response time was less than impressive. The guy they brought on, [sensitive content hidden], to help with sync process spent more time telling me how much he knew than actually doing anything. Over a year in and nothing has changed.

Pros:

Very little to like about Classtag other than the price.

Cons:

Support is non-existent, sync process STILL not working after 2 years. Import process spotty. The only school that could use classtag is one with 100 or less students that can be managed manually and is more concerned with cuteness than performance.

the biggest contributor to the choice was price and downloadable reports. Bad choice.

ClassTag is Great for Parent Engagement!

We liked the app for the simplicity and the ability to create events for parents to sign up electronically. The layout in the classrooms is also very user friendly and encourages engagement.

Pros:

I loved the layout of the app and the way that the activities were posted like a social media posting. Families are able to comment and 'like' a post which is great for parent engagement.

Cons:

I did not like the ads that popped up. Paying the fee for the classrooms to be ad free seemed steep.

An Awesome Tool for Teachers

Pros:

Class Tag is the perfect tool to keep in contact with student's families! I love that I can send a notice to everyone, select people, or just to one family. I also like the ability to have a wishlist for items for the classroom and the option to earn things with points for just using the app!

Cons:

Sometimes it can be difficult with the limitations on the length of annoucements.

Pros:

I love how easy this program is for teachers and parents to use. It allows space to post for parents and have communication via messages or through a wall where all can see. It is very user friendly.

Cons:

I wish that the messages would be able to be longer. There is a word limit and I wish the word limit was longer.

Too Many Ads!!!

Overall, I did not like ClassTag. It does give awards and prizes (if they are not already sold out) which is nice, but the amount of ads that always pop up really left a sour taste in my mouth!!

I liked ClassTag because it gave me a way to communicate with parents as well as share pictures, files, and worksheets/study guides.

Cons:

It takes some time to maneuver around this app. The part that I disliked the most were the constant ads that popped up ALL THE TIME!! Teachers do not have time for that!
