About MailWasher

MailWasher is an on-premise and cloud-based anti-spam solution, which helps small to large organizations view, filter and remove unwanted or suspicious emails from employee accounts. Key features include content inspection, real-time blocking, contact list management, status tracking, and reporting.

The application comes with a built-in spam detection tool which enables users to inspect emails at the server level and remove junk messages before reaching inboxes. MailWasher lets users examine emails in text format and monitor the source and hidden links present inside the message. Additionally, the solution helps administrators generate accounts for end-users, allowing them to view blocked spam, send rejection notices and track aliases.

Absolutely indispensable!

I have been using Mailwasher since 1998 and could not do without it. Because all the mail you receive remains on your ISP's server until you have cleaned it of undesirables, it is impossible to infect your machine with a virus (unless you open read it in HTML view and click on a link within the mail). You cannot view attachments while mails are on the server either. It provides a level of security that I have never found in any other anti-spam solution.

Pros:

It is 98% perfect and allows total flexibility in control of your mailbox. To be succinct, ISP spam filters often classify mails as spam when they are both legitimate and important. That can result in you not seeing them because they get sent to your spam folder or automatically deleted. Mailwasher leaves you to decide what is spam and what isn't. If you accidentally delete a mail, the restore option will allow you to retrieve it.

Cons:

In the Pro category, I said that the program is 98% perfect. The 2% missing is due to the fact that on rare occasions an unwanted mail will slip through within the space of time you have cleaned the list and then downloaded the remainder. I cannot think of any way the programmer could solve this though as the timeframe is far too tight. Therefore, I mention the issue but would not see it as a reason not to use this program.

Reasons for switching to MailWasher

Orange's own solution is far too aggressive tagging mails you really need as spam. For example, mails from my bank, the tax authorities, and even my own mother, were almost always tagged as spam.

Mailwasher Server Rocks!

My overall experience has been very positive. MailWasher Server just works, and does its job very well for my needs. Support has been very timely and efficient, often going the extra mile to troubleshoot perceived issues (I say 'perceived' because so far any issue has embarrassingly been my own, not that of the software)

Pros:

Mailwasher (Server) makes my life easier by automatically blocking spam and junk at the mail server level. I have a small consultancy with a few clients who utilize my mailserver, and MailWasher Server protects all of them (multiple email accounts in multiple domains). It's very easy to learn, configure and use. the Bayesian training is straightforward (and automatic) and it's easy to start over if needed. Setting up 'Good Filters' and 'Bad Filters' is also easy (e.g. create a Good Filter to always allow emails with a wildcard 'from' address of '*@capterra.com' or even use regular expressions on to, from addresses, subject lines, email body, etc.)

Cons:

I have used this software for several years now, I don't have any cons.

Its a joke

If I pay for a lifetime license - guess what you should offer remote access and you should fix it. Best way to summarize this app is that when I uninstalled it and left comments with the option to follow up by email - the program threw its usual error message and I wasn't even able to send feedback from within the program. That's how much of a joke it is.

What better benefit than to keep your inbox clean and without any type of spam or junk mail, to make the task of checking something nice.

It is excellent to keep your mail clean and free from dirtty spam, it is very easy to start using it and as we use it becomes more accurate and effective that is why I call it smart, according to your use you will learn which email is spam and it gets better every day, has a list of friends and blacklist that improve even more its quality and work, it comes with a very good spam database that from the beginning will eliminate and filter much of the spam in your inbox.

Cons:

It is difficult to find something to claim this application since everything does everything right, in principle it leaves spam in the inbox but as it is configured correctly it will begin to work better and better.

A Software That Prevents Spam, Viruses and Fraudulent Attacks

Pros:

I have been using MailWasher Pro for some time now, and I must say that this software has saved me from viruses, scams and fraudulent attacks. The software is pretty straightforward when it comes to its features which is to distinguish legitimate email from spam. There are other software out there who claim to do the same, but don’t provide the same accuracy as MailWasher Pro does. I also like that I can easily send a quick reply using the preview window. I think this is pretty sleek and smart for people who are always on the go like me.

Cons:

I don’t have any complaints about this software except for the price. It would have been more attractive if they were to lower the monthly fee, but other than that, everything works perfectly.

Everything. Pretty much its a set and forget process. Get going and then you can let it run and forget about it (within reason). I have had workmates and associates swear by this product by 15+ years and although the odd piece of mail may be flagged incorrectly, thats a rarity and something that would happen if you had a human previewing every piece of software.

Cons:

Some of the initial learning can be a drag but I have learned that some software programs that take a bit of set up often tend to be the best ones I use as they are now tailored to how I like to work.

Used to manage my mailbox and filter spam emails

There is nothing worse than having spam messages in your mail tray, so with MailWasher I can control all my items and I can eliminate those that do not work for me. It is very easy to use and very fast.

Pros:

It allows me to manage all my email accounts in one place and allows you to filter them to only see what I want in my inbox. With MailWasher I can preview all my emails before they reach my PC or mobile device, which allows me to read all my emails safely.

Cons:

Sometimes it takes a while to synchronize all my trays from the email server, so, you have to be aware of the response time
