About Design Flex

Design Flex is a kitchen and bathroom design application that assists professional designers with space planning, photorealistic rendering and presentation on a unified interface. The platform provides content libraries with decorative catalog items, textures and finishes from manufacturers, which lets users specify and visualize spaces with real products.

It offers a large selection of manufacturer catalogs for kitchens and bathrooms, including cloud-configurable cabinets, appliances, and plumbing. The software provides advanced design tools that allow designers to create stunning spaces through space planning, photorealistic renderings, 360-degree panoramas, and a lighting wizard.

Design Flex includes EZ Render, a rendering engine, which allows professionals to automatically implement lighting effects across cabinet finishes, tiling, flooring, paint and countertop materials. Real estate agents can utilize the Virtual Reality (VR) viewer to deliver immersive 3D experiences and 360° panoramic views of designs to clients.

With a design wizard, businesses can draw custom walls, ceilings, window or cabinets. The tools can be used to place moldings or doors, add countertops to cabi...

nets and elevations to walls. It can also configure screen layout. It facilitates integration with room measuring applications including ETemplate and magicplan, allowing users to design floor plans on mobile devices. One standout feature is the ability to easily change cabinet colors and styles without having to download multiple catalogs. This streamlines the design process and allows designers to quickly iterate on their ideas. The software also includes Closet, a tool for designing custom closets and home storage solutions. Additionally, the Application Integration Module enables electronic data transfer to accounting and other systems. Whether designers are creating kitchens from scratch or guiding bathroom renovations, Design Flex offers a comprehensive suite of features, vast catalog selection, and seamless integration capabilities to help design professionals make spaces amazing.

It is still my number one design program, and I do appreciate many of the features that they offer and the collaborations that they have with cabinetry companies.

    Cons:
The rendering feature can take some time, and there are quite a few glitches with some of the cabinetry.

Overall we are quite happy with the software, the cost is becoming difficult to justify. Thankfully I recently renegotiated our 2026 rate that is more palatable, however, I fear we will have no option but the defaulted rate next year.

    Pros:
The ease of use and ability to utilize my manufacturers catalogs. The ability to save and share details with contractors, homeowners and designers in a professional and clear format.
    Cons:
The price. As a small design group, a menu option would allow us to pay for features we need and use vs. an excessive blanket annual fee. I also wish the lighting was more straightforward.

It works well but is very expensive for what it does. It's powerful but you can tell the software is very old and is a continual improvement of a somewhat outdated platform.

it's powerful, does a nice job overall. lots of options and abilities to adjust things as required. It's a must have in the industry currently.
    Cons:
Some things could be much more simple to make designs go faster. the program sometimes makes really dumb decisions. Probably some AI rational would go a long way.

    Pros:
I liked having the different package tiers, so I didn't have to pay for things I didn't need like the manufacturer catalogs. I may need them someday in the future, but it was nice to have the option to opt out. I also love the 3D renderings, as they have helped our clients really visualize what the outcome will be in their space.
    Cons:
When first using the trial and becoming familiar with design flex, having the old jargon and new jargon mixed was a little confusing, and finding the right resources and videos that applied to the most recent versions so I didn't waste my time and energy was also frustrating.

I've been a user of this program for 30+ years. Design Flex is an improvement but now is also much more limiting than the previous program since cloud items and program items can no longer be modified.

    Pros:
Mostly, I like the rendering quality and the ability to plug in full cabinetry manufacture catalogs for quick design and pricing
    Cons:
What I like the least is the dimensioning. I constantly need to adjust it and shorten dim. lines. Also making the drawings look professional takes a lot of timely finessing. It's not quite to nkba graphic standards.

Reasons for switching to Design Flex

Because Chief Architect isn't user friendly and doesn't automatically plug in cabinets nor use manufacture software blocks as 2020 does.

I would have given a 6 out of 10 2 months ago because I felt that the rendering software had been the same quality for many years and the long wait times on some files is frustrating, but with the new rendering upgrades and cloud storage I would give it an 8 out of 10.

My overall experience with the software so far is positive. The program is powerful, intuitive, and reliable for detailed CAD work, and it handles complex designs smoothly. With the program priced at $2,500 per year, having to pay extra for assistance felt disappointing. The software itself is excellent, but including support would make the investment feel more complete.

    Pros:
This Software delivers a reliable intuitive platform that makes detailed design easy and work fast and accurate. The tools are precise, the interface is easy to navigate, and the 3D visuals help clients clearly understand the design. Downloading various catalogues increases the speed of pricing. Being a previous 20/20 user our lead is back on his game. I work in Mozaik by Cyncly. The company IS FANTASTIC.
    Cons:
My only disappointment is that support isn’t included. At $2,500 per year, having to pay extra for assistance feels out of step with the investment. The program is excellent, but built‑in support would make it a far better value.
