Excellent Chat App Beats Slack

5

Pumble has been a god-send. We have utilized it for consistent communication and overall it's performed flawlessly. We recommend this app to anyone who wants to get a chat communication started. We will continue to use Pumble as our team grows until we find something that we can't get from it and could get elsewhere (nothing yet).

Pros:
Chats that don't disappear! Slack-like appearance without the slack price-tag.
Cons:
Sometimes small bugs, but nothing really that drives me away from it. It is the best out there for our needs.

Reasons for switching to Pumble

Cost, features, clean UI and ready support from Pumble team.

Vendor Response

Thank you for your amazing review, Daniel! We are glad to hear your thoughts about Pumble and for recommending us! We will continue to improve our services for our users! Reliable chat

5

Pumble does the core job very well: quick team chat without bloat. Our onboarding was smooth, and day-to-day messaging is snappy. It’s perfect for small to mid-size teams that mostly need channels, DMs, and simple file sharing. If your workflow depends on deep integrations, advanced compliance, or heavy video meetings, you may feel its limits but for focused, reliable collaboration, it’s a win.

Pros:
Customer Support: Quick, friendly replies; clear help docs. Learning Curve: Super easy—new hires onboard in minutes. Security: Solid basics (roles, 2FA, permissions) for SMB needs. Bugs & Issues: Rare; fixes roll out fast when they pop up. File Sharing: Drag-and-drop is smooth; previews fine for common formats. Remote Work: Stable across mixed networks; presence/status helps coordination. Meetings: Built-in calls are perfect for quick huddles and ad-hoc syncs
Cons:
Fewer native integrations than bigger competitors Video/voice meetings feel basic compared to Zoom/Teams File previews can be slow with large files Admin controls are good but not very granular Occasional sync hiccups on mobile when switching networks

Reasons for switching to Pumble

We wanted a lighter, chat-first tool that our team could learn fast and run on any device without lag. Pumble gave us: Faster performance and lower CPU/RAM than Teams Simpler, cleaner channels/threads (less meeting-first noise) Easier onboarding for contractors (no M365 tenant hassles) More consistent notifications for day-to-day chat Straightforward file sharing without SharePoint/OneDrive hoops Lower cost since we weren’t using most of the Microsoft stack Less admin overhead (fewer policies and permission layers)

Pumble Review as a new user

So far for my first few days with Pumble, it's satisfactory. I do wish it to be more like Discord (possibly even the members tab to be on the right). Nothing really stands out to make it unique, but it feels functional.

Pros:
It's similar to Discord and Slack, and it doesn't appear to have the 90-day message history expiry date. It's pretty easy to learn because it's similar, and it holds similar login methods to the previously mentioned apps.
Cons:
I don't appreciate getting emails about new users joining, as well as how there was no underline to turn them off in the messages from Pumble (it felt as if it was not clickable). I also don't appreciate the many tabs above the channels; I feel as if it clutters the UI. There doesn't appear to be any voice call channels (at least in my server).

Reasons for switching to Pumble

Team moved to this program, this was mandatory.

Vendor Response

Hello there, Thanks for the review! 1. You can turn off emails that we send about unread messages after you haven't used the app for 24 hours. There is an unsubscribe button on that email 2. You can turn off messages we send to existing members once someone joins the workspace. We have that under workspace settings. Haven't looked at it recently, and I'm currently on my phone (afk) but we have something there for sure, at least for owners/admins. Feel free to reach out to support@pumble.com in case any additional assistance is required!

Good, but can use a little polish

Overall pretty good experience with some minor hiccups. Most problems were able to be solved with workarounds but alternatively, there should be some minor tweaks to the platform to solve them.

Pros:
The searching ability of the platform is fantastic and by far the best feature. The ability to schedule/remind about messages, custom notification settings, making user groups, threading, and other customization options are all welcomed. Support has been very prompt with responses and helpful forwarding issues/ feature requests.
Cons:
The mobile app is pretty terrible in comparison to the web platform. Calls are my biggest complaint as they just haven't worked properly even once despite multiple tickets to support. I always have to call twice or receive a call twice before it will actually connect. Otherwise, it will show the other party as muted for whoever is making the call and connecting for whoever is receiving it. As far as the other dislikes: not being able to specifically mute a user in chats, lack of custom sorting options for chats beyond just recent/alphabetical, not being able to sort differently from the web/phone version, not having single sign on as default instead of having codes sent to emails and putting it behind a higher price tier.

Reasons for switching to Pumble

They were closing down operations and we needed a robust platform

Great alternative to Slack

5

I’ve been telling other business owners about Pumble because I know a lot of them don’t even use the extra tools that come with Slack. They just need a simple way to chat with their team—and that’s exactly what Pumble does. It’s easy to use, does the job well, and doesn’t take a lot of time to learn. It’s great for busy owners and teams who don’t want to mess with all the extras.

Pros:
Pumble is a great tool with a lot of good things going for it. It costs way less than Slack but still works almost the same. Sure, it doesn’t connect with as many apps as Slack does, but for the price, it’s still a win. It’s super easy to use—no big learning curve. Everything in the app is clear and simple. I haven’t had any issues or bugs so far, and I really like using it on my phone. Their customer service is quick and helpful too. I even asked them for a new feature, and they actually added it! That’s wild. Now you can pin messages in channels, which helps a lot. Plus, you can make calls and have meetings right in the app. 10/10
Cons:
The only downside I’ve found with Pumble is that it doesn’t really connect with other tools easily. So if I wanted it to send me automatic alerts (like when something changes in another app), it wouldn’t be simple to set up. It might be possible, but it seems too complicated to figure out—and I don’t have time or energy for that. Still, if all you need is a clean and simple way to chat with your team, Pumble works great.

Reasons for switching to Pumble

I made the switch due to cost, I did not want to pay for many features that I don't use.

Vendor Response

Hello Perry, Appreciate you taking the time to write such a nice review, we are glad to hear that Pumble is working out for you! Cheers,

Finally an affordable way of coming together

5

We use Pumble as the central hub between head office and our nationwide network of independent travel advisors. Working in team/project channels enables asynchronous collaboration, faster decisions, and less noise. Urgent cases get the right attention within minutes. Adoption was frictionless, performance is consistent, and support is quick and helpful. We’d love stronger org defaults and templates, but the core experience is excellent and getting better.

Pros:
It’s very easy to set up a clear channel structure and onboard new colleagues/franchisees in one go. @Mentions and threads keep conversations tidy, file sharing is smooth, and both desktop and mobile apps are fast and stable. Onboarding took hours instead of days, and adoption was high because it’s so intuitive.
Cons:
I’m missing some org-wide admin controls. For example, I’d like to enforce a company theme/brand styling for everyone and pre-set a default channel structure for new users (instead of each person creating their own). Overall, Pumble still feels young and lacks a few quality-of-life conveniences—nothing major, and most seem fixable with future updates.

Reasons for choosing Pumble

Slack is too expensive for our usage and number of seats

Reasons for switching to Pumble

We couldn't really manage a community with several subjects there

Hello there, Thanks for the good review! We'll make sure to forward you feedback to the Product team, appreciate your input! Cheers,

A genuine gem for all your internal (and external) communication needs

Pros:
I have only used Pumble for a short period, but so far, the value of the free version that I am currently using far exceeds my initial expectations. I was looking for an affordable alternative to Slack that would provide longer message history on the free version. Pumble has been an awesome discovery. The platform is easy and intuitive to use both as an administrator and as a regular user. The security seems to be top-notch. I have not needed personal customer support so far because the information on their website has covered all of my needs. The paid subscriptions also seem very reasonably priced, so I would highly recommend Pumble as an excellent alternative to Slack.
Cons:
My wish list contains the ability to include more features, such as a whiteboard or canvas for making notes. I miss the possibility of organizing channels, or at least ordering channels manually instead of having to rename them to have them show in a specific order. But I am just using the free version, so I know I cannot expect a bunch of features unless I pay.

Reasons for choosing Pumble

Both Discord and Discourse seemed slightly too complex and complicated for our use. Slack did not offer a good enough free option. Google chat seemed to lock users into their universe. Pumble made everything ten times easier and smoother.

Vendor Response

Hi there! Thank you so much for the constructive and positive feedback. We're glad to hear you're satisfied with Pumble so far! Regarding the whiteboard or canvas for notes as features, your feedback has been forwarded to the Product team, so the team can consider it for future updates. Cheers!

Cons:
One of the issues we have with this platform in drivers are not able to share more than 10 photos at a time. Sometimes they need to send 100+ at a time. It would be huge help if they could share more than 10 at a time.

Reasons for choosing Pumble

We previously used sling on a different side of business, and it was not very user friendly and crashed frequently

Reasons for switching to Pumble

We made the switch for the easier to use platform.
