About Square Online

Square Online is an eCommerce solution that helps businesses in retail and hospitality industries create and launch websites with a custom domain name using built-in templates. The centralized platform allows organizations to connect with customers and directly accept orders from social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Features of Square Online include search engine optimization, inventory management, website templates, SSL security, gift cards, analytics and more. The application lets organizations receive payments through various methods including debit or credit card processing, Square gift cards, Apply Pay and Google Pay. Additionally, it enables restaurant owners to streamline and manage operations related to online orders, food deliveries or pickups and digital menus.

Square Online offers an application programming interface (API), which facilitates integration with several third-party platforms, such as Magento, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and more. Pricing is available on monthly subscriptions and support is extended via online measures.

They are continuing to update the program. New improvements, features and functionality continue to evolve with square.

Cons:

Wish improvements could happen a bit quicker. Some additional functionality with pop-ups would be helpful.

Pros:

Used to be really easy and convenient to use for checkouts and order processing online or in store. The instant deposits very great.

Cons:

These past 2 years of using square have been a nightmare. Customer Service is rude and no help. My system have glitches they will not help me fix. I purchased a $279 terminal and they will not fix or replace it after it malfunctioned.

Square online offers sellers the opportunity to get online and selling almost instantly! The tools are secure and completely functional allowing you to scale your business from 0 to 100 at your own pace with minimal limitations

Cons:

It’s not as flexible as tools like Shopify unfortunately but still takes its own space in the market

Square Online is great if you need a good solid website

I use Square Online to showcase my inventory to potential buyers, and I also use it in another business I own. This allows me to have a professional look and reach out to potential customers all across the country.

Pros:

Square Online allows a Square user to create a website that directly integrates with the Square app. This means you get real time inventory adjustments and changes as well as being able to update your website right from the dashboard.

Cons:

The only thing I don't really like about Square Online is all of the fancier design features are locked behind paywalls.

Overall, Square Online has simplified the needs for any business, but for small businesses in particular. They provide many tools and services that serve a variety of needs for different businesses.

Pros:

Square Online has a set of comprehensive features and point of sales systems that make starting a business easy without needing to build an entire website to sell products from scratch. The products they offer allow for both ecommerce and brick and mortar stores. Additionally, when tendering transactions, the sales tax is automatically calculated for you as the business.

Cons:

The service fees in place for credit card and online transactions is kind of high. Square Online could do a better job of balancing the need to make money while allowing businesses to keep more of their hard earned money. Additionally, there could be some options for businesses that still handle cash in 2025.

Great usable product, room for improvement.

It has been a good driver of revenue for our business, but I just often feel spots where I wish it was better and more customizable.

Lots of ability to add and customize products. It has been very successful for our lunch and bakery business.

Cons:

There are some certain customizable pieces that just aren't there. The square online site can't be customized with pictures and images. It's very difficult to have different fulfillment times for different products. It would be great to have the ability to set different fulfillment times for various square online categories.
