Factorial is very clear and structured. Especially for those in charge of the team. It significantly reduces operational effort, offers an efficient recruiting process, simple absence/attendance management and a clear employee overview. The recruiting process, in particular, is very well-designed. Factorial ensures optimal collaboration between the recruiting department and the teams.
Cons:
I have absolutely nothing to complain about with Factorial. It is a perfect 360° solution and a central solution for all people processes.

Reasons for switching to Factorial

The UI is not the best in Personio in my opinion, especially the speed of the site was not good which was further exacerbated by many unnecessary clicks.

Everything goes as long as it increases MRR

I’ve used Factorial at two different stages in two different companies. I’m talking about 2019 and even earlier, and now again in my new company. I was the driving force behind its implementation in both cases. So I think I know a thing or two about Factorial. In this latest stage, I was comparing them with other providers and everyone told me: it’s not what it costs now, it’s what they’ll make you pay later. And I get that. They apply aggressive discounts at the beginning and if they release new modules or features, if you want them, you pay the base price + extra. That’s part of the usual game. But what I had never seen until now—and what has deeply outraged me—is that they take one of the CORE modules, decisive in choosing the tool (such as payroll), and tell you that in 3 months they’re going to deprecate it. But not to worry, because they’ll launch a new payroll module outside the CORE, supposedly much better. And yet they don’t reduce the price of the CORE product, and the new pricing is an additional €2.5 per employee for this new payroll module. A SPECTACULAR MOVE in terms of upgrading, increasing unit price per account, you name it—but PATHETIC when it comes to the values it conveys. EVERYTHING goes as long as it increases the MRR of your already captive accounts, knowing that since implementation takes time, it’s not easy for clients to just leave, so you squeeze them. I need to think it over calmly and weigh the pros and cons after cooling down. I don’t know what final decision I’ll make, but what will definitely not go away is the pitiful image they’re giving, and how in the future I will think long and hard before considering them again—or recommending them to others in the industry.

I always thought it was a fantastic all in one HR platform. It´s easy to use even if they have many tools, modules, etc.
Cons:
EVERYTHING goes as long as it increases the MRR of your already captive accounts, knowing that since implementation takes time, it’s not easy for clients to just leave, so you squeeze them, increasing prices and deprecating modules from their CORE solution.

Factorial saves an incredible amount of time. Instead of time-consuming communication with HR, management or employees, you can view or complete many tasks asynchronously yourself. Every quarter, we can recognize colleagues across the company for their outstanding work. A useful feature in the HR tool.

Factorial offers extensive features and seems very complex as a tool. The customizable dashboard allows you to set individual preferences, making it easier to use. Shortcuts allow you to quickly get to the desired location. The interface is attractively designed, bright and friendly.
Cons:
The software could be a bit more flexible. During the employee review, when you update your goals, you have to wait for your supervisor. You can't edit anymore. Sometimes the application isn't self-explanatory.

Overall, great new product

Overall we had a positive experience. The team enjoyed being able to see their PTO in real time, request time off directly in the app and see their schedules. Our hospital is a very large hospital and we do have pay differentials for our evening shifts after a certain time frame- which was the only thing we could not work out with Factorial overall. For a facility that is less complex in it's scheduling and wage tables than ours- this would not be an issue.

Illegal price doubling with no notice and ignoring support requests

I’ve been a Factorial customer for years. Recently, my subscription price doubled without any prior notice or consent. I reached out multiple times (Oct 10, 11, 14) to clarify the issue before renewal — no one replied. Only after escalating and threatening legal action did [sensitive content hidden] , an account manager, respond briefly to say my “discount expired.” No acknowledgment of the missing notice or consent, and no resolution since. Under German law, unilateral price increases without explicit consent or direct notice are generally not valid. Yet Factorial has ignored my messages while continuing to charge the higher amount. Extremely disappointing experience from a company that promotes itself as people-first.

The UI, ease of use and the entire experience on the platform is seamless. I love that you can see the organization chart so visually, and the team calendar to easily see when team members are going on holiday. It adds transparency to the team. It is a one-platform-fits-all solution for HR issues.
Cons:
Goal setting can be improved. Think user journey from when a company has a new joiner and the different milestones that person faces, like the first quarterly OKR setting etc. This entire journey can be made proactive.
