About Propeller Aero

Propeller is a web-based analytics and data visualization platform that offers users the ability to measure and map their worksites through 3D site surveys. The software is designed to streamline various tasks such as stockpile measurements, design conformance checks, road-grade verification, and volumetrics, while also providing visual assessment capabilities of worksites.

To create 3D site surveys, users can leverage data collected from drone surveys. The platform ensures data quality by processing it through filtering analysis, checkpoint verification, and processing reports, which are further reviewed by Propeller's data team. The software allows users to calculate stockpile and pit volumes, providing accurate inventory estimates. Additionally, Propeller offers features for blasting and extraction planning, as well as haul road monitoring, employing 3D visualizations and measurement tools.

Pros:

We use Propeller Aero on a daily basis. All aspects of our compony use the portal from Project Management to our Estimating Department. I've been a customer of Propeller for almost 8 years, great product with great value for what you get in return.

Cons:

Wish the portal would have some more "takeoff" commands. We sometime run into wanting to add subgrade depths to our linework to view the depths within the portal for a more accurate cut/fill map.

We tried to process in-house at my previous employer before switching to Propeller. No comparison.

The customer support at Propeller is by far the best I've experienced in my 30-yr career in the mining industry.

The ease of use and the visualization in 3-D that it provides. It allows me to share information with others on my team with ease.

Cons:

The resolution of the data is often too detailed to be used in other platforms. It would be nice to have a better option to smooth the surfaces.

Pros:

Very user friendly you can walk anyone through how to use the software over the phone. Being able to pull quantities and print them out in reports is probably the best part of the software for what we do as a heavy highway construction company.

Cons:

Need to be able to see the proposed line work in the reports would be very beneficial so owners can see what part of the job we are referencing to.

Very helpful in weekly monitory the status of construction. Evaluating dirt movement, checking grades, verifying completion of work.

Cons:

User interface takes a little getting used to and can be intimidating to new users.

Fast and Accurate Drone Data Processing and Analysis

Using Propeller is so fast, I have been able to spend all of my time in the field, collecting aerial data, instead of hours and hours tinkering with processing software. I have processed sites ranging from 1 acre, to 4000 acres. Then analyzing the data is also fast and intuitive. Running stockpile calcs, measuring road slopes, pond volumes, surface area, cut/fill reports, elevation color maps, the list of measurements and analysis reports is long. Customer service is mainly via online chat, although response is quick, and they always solve my problems.

Cons:

None that I can think of currently, the Propeller team is always adding features and functionality. They listen to user feedback incorporate it into future releases.

Reasons for choosing Propeller Aero

Dronedeploy doesn't offer the same level of GCP (ground control point) integration that Propeller does, especially with their Aeropoints.

Reasons for switching to Propeller Aero

I was spending too much time manually processing, and keeping a dedicated computer for the task. The web portal for Propeller is also shareable with clients, so they can quickly see the processed data and use the tools as well.

Great Processing System and Support Team

I think the data and how everything gets point together is great and the accuracy is really coming together I still think I am trying to implement it even more into the company and find new ways to add value.

They give you a lot of data and the customer service is great I love looking at the maps and being able to get all the data our PMs need, and I am so grateful for PropellerU!

Cons:

That I can only have one known point. One works most of the time, but I wish we could have two known points on some sites, or if we could know more about the Propeller Corrections Network and maybe find a way to get a known point onto it.

Propeller Aero Customer Review

I had tried drone deploy and a do it yourself platform, drone deploy required a lot mor ground control and still did not give us the accuracy required for our type of work. We are an aggregate producer and we have a construction project group. Propeller has helped both division become more efficient and productive.

Cons:

I will have to try really hard to find something that I don't like about Propeller Aero. I guess the thing I like least is the challenge of replacing a drone in the system. I have replaced our drones twice and both times I had to rely on [sensitive content hidden] to get it completed.

Reasons for switching to Propeller Aero

As I stated above, Drone Deploy required too much ground control, in effect we would have to mobilize our gps crew to every site. With Propeller Aero, I am able to use the panels for ground control especially with the corrections network.

We fly more than 1.500.000m2 weekly based. Our teams (engineers,designers can follow progress without going on site. Calculate stockpiles and visualise the designs on the platform is a big timesaver.

Cons:

At the start we had some issues with the belgian projection in the platform.
