About Foodzilla

Foodzilla is a meal planning and nutrition analysis tool that helps health professionals plan, create and track personalized diet plans for customers. Users can communicate with clients via live chat and messaging functionalities.

Using Foodzilla, nutritionists can create food recipes by adding ingredients, cooking directions and labels as well as share them with clients via mobile applications. It allows health professionals to gain insights into calories, vitamins, minerals, cholesterol, macronutrients and fiber for logged meals through reports.

Exceptional customer experience

Overall the experience using Foodzilla has been fun! I really enjoy the app and it has been a great asset to my business. It is easy to use for both myself and my clients and I thoroughly enjoy every day I am able to utilise this within my business. My clients appreciate the ease of use and set up also so it really adds to their enjoyable experience with both my program and the Foodzilla app!

Pros:

The ease of use for both myself and my clients. The customer service is exceptional and exceeds expectations. Your replies are prompt and personalised and that is very much appreciated.

Cons:

There isn't much I would say I don't like about Foodzilla at all, the datatbase is broad and the app has inbuilt most of the services and tools I use already to help my clients. Not to mention each month the app has ample improvements and additions which is so needed and a must to grow in the health and fitness industry! :)

Reasons for choosing Foodzilla

I chose Foodzilla for the overall features that would both benefit my business and myself. I am a nutritionist so the datatbase I love and utilise regularly. The app experience for my clients is easy acess also and has all the required fields for them to be able to utilise this product to help them get to their health goals and track aswell as gain education themselves to make informed decisions about their nutrition also.

Recipes are amazing, presentation is beautiful & organized!

Great!! At first I had started with the trial I didn't make use of it at all. My free trial had ended was charged due to not canceling, as they state you need to do so if you wish to not continue. I was exploring other Free trials in other programs simultaneously and thought I had found the one I was going to use. Since I had automatically gotten charged (due to me not canceling after free trial my fault), I figured I would use what I paid for. Oh meanwhile I had contact support and stated I wanted to cancel after my 3 months of paid subscription was done. Long story short I ended up LOVING the platform!! I am currently continuing to use Foodzilla and have actually upgraded my subscription!!

Pros:

The presentation is of the plan to the client is well organized! My clients love it! The auto generated recipes give me a head start on competing the plans in a timely manner along with the easy ability to swap out anything needed.

Cons:

The section where it calculates energy in and energy out. It would be great if I could add in the clients BMR and based off of the individuals BMR have it calculate the energy out based on a goal weight and activity level. Although I could be completely using this feature inappropriately as I have not watched any tutorials on it.

Reasons for switching to Foodzilla

Need something that didn’t take too much time to put together but still professional and easy to make changes on. From the clients view the presentation needed to be appealing and easy to follow!

I loved the aesthetics of foodzilla and relatively easy learning curve. The features (if they worked) would be world class. And the price would have been good value...again if it worked.

Cons:

The auto generator expected someone to have 4 times the total amount in a recipe for 5 people (totally 20 servings). A recipe was listed as having approx. half the kj as the same ingredients that I input in a separate recipe; showing that the calculations could be off as much as 50% which is very important in weight management. There were 4 instances of recipes in the 2000cal vegan meal plan that have non-vegan ingredients. That brings me to the PDF of the meal plan that I downloaded has the correct recipes and meal plan however the shopping list includes items that were removed including the non-vegan ingredients. It also displays only one recipe per meal e.g. breakfast, even if there are 2-3 meals/foods listed as to be consumed at that meal which is shown by '(+1)' or 2 etc. with ZERO indication as to what the other meal/food is supposed to be! I saved the template periodically so as to not lose my work (each time it said, 'saved successfully' as it's not easy to balance the macros then servings so I didn't want to lose it. Unfortunately when I opened it up to download the plan, meals that had been swapped out were back in their original position together with the new meal meaning that days with around 8,000kj were now 10-14,000kj. I then had to try and remember the game of Tetris I originally played to get everything all sorted and thought I'd finally gotten home safe when it downloaded successfully only to encounter the issue in points 4 & 5. {I haven't had that problem since as I save multiple times and copied it to a new plan} AND whilst they would respond within 24hrs previously (I have contacted them a handful of times) now that I have requested a refund I haven't heard from them after 3 emails in 12 days.

Reasons for choosing Foodzilla

Great service and well designed software!

Foodzilla offers incredible features at a great price. They have the best customer support I have ever experienced. You don't get some generic chatbot answer that you could have Googled. Detailed answers! I am liking the fact that it can integrate with Zapier as I am in the process of automating most of my processes and the team has been very informative and supportive. Their pricing is great even if you want to scale your business. The actual features are too many to mention and all work really well. Almost too many to keep track of, but the app allows you to exclude what your client doesn't need and individualize some features which I haven't seen on other apps. one of the very few that has a dynamic Grocery list that updates with weekly meal selections - a feature my clients specifically asked for as I help families and moms plan their meals and streamline grocery shopping for busy families. like any new software I had to get to know it at first and seemed overwhelming, but is now super easy to use. Thank you.

We were using MatrixCare homehealth as well, when moving on from that service we also had to move on from this one. Foodzilla was reccomended

Foodzilla - the best meal plans for clients

So far i have enjoyed my experience with Foodzilla but still exploring and trying to get to know the website. Whenever i have a question or concern i email the support team and they get back to me within an hour or two which is so helpful.

Pros:

Lots of options for client and health professional within one website/app. Downloadable app for clients. So many meal plans and recipes that cater for all diverse diets.

Cons:

The starter plan only allows up to 5 clients before having to upgrade to the next plan. It is not an Australian based website.

So Far so good

So far so good, this seems to solve my business needs when it comes to delivering nutrition plans to clients. Although at first glance it seemed a bit messy it is actually quiet easy to work around and creating plans is simple.

I'm only on the free trial at the moment but all looks good. I like that you can create your own meal plan or auto generate one. Its critical to my business that i can easily produce nutrition plans and quickly Foodzilla delivers on that. For me this seems to combine many of the best features of its competition.

Cons:

At an initial glance the main dashboard was a bit confusing, It seemed a bit messy to me, but i soon worked my way around it. Some of the food in the auto generated plans are a bit out there 'Spinach sandwich'

Easy to introduce with clients. PDF versions of meal plans look great. App is easy to use and understand. Allows clients to see recommendations for food groups and fluids. Looks attractive and want to interact with the application. Have passed on my positive feedback in the past.

Cons:

We cannot yet send PDF versions of the meal plans to clients who have no capability to engage with the application. Issues with loss of data still occurs from time to time. The recipes developed by the team are not common NZ meals, balanced recipes similar to my food bag, help fresh etc are desirable by our target audience. Cannot edit a recipe without it being deleted from the meal plan template. Cannot edit a recipe easily to change from regular bread to GF bread if someone was coeliac, need to enter the recipe from the beginning again. Default weight is still ideal, not all clients signing up are wanting to change their weight. Compared to my fitness pal the foods you can enter still have a way to go (selection and specificity). When clinicians are on leave we cannot see their chats to their clients without getting the email code, this makes it difficult to answer questions and provide the best care possible. Cannot add foods in the app in measures such as one apple or 10 almonds yet. Fruit serving recommendations read 3 serve when it is 2 and vegetables reads 2 serve when it should be at least 3

Some of the issues you mentioned are already solved in an upcoming update next week (such as customising the mobile app and updating food group servings). As for food entry, users of the mobile app can indeed now select one apple or 10 almonds from the NZ and AU food composition databases. I'll make sure the team improves the user interface to make it clearer and easier to change measurements.
