About FareHarbor

FareHarbor is a cloud-based tour and activity booking solution that enables tour operators to manage their day-to-day business operations. It offers online booking management and payment portals, and it integrates with user websites. It is designed to work on desktop and mobile devices.

Customers can view tours and events, create bookings and submit payments using FareHarbor. The user dashboard provides a calendar, booking details and booking management tools through a single interface. In the calendar, tour operators can view customer payment details for individual activities and pending dues. Bookings can be filtered by activity type, which allows users to see which activities and tours are being booked most often.

Users can integrate FareHarbor with existing websites or use the service’s website building platform. Reporting features allow users to track operations, bookings and accounting in real time, and integrations with PicThrive and TripAdvisor let them promote their business through other channels.

    The customer service is amazing and fast On a day to day basis, it is easy to use and you can add all the information you need to for all your guides.
    Cons:
    I sometimes struggle with set up and amending items. We usually have to get Fareharbor to do some or all of the set up as we get some things wrong. Saying that, all you need to do is reach out to their service team and they usually sort it out in minutes.

    Reasons for switching to FareHarbor

    I didn't get on with Turitop and needed a slightly more sophisticated system.

    I like how you can do everything in the backend, reports, inventory, taxes. It allows you to look at future bookings and see future sales.
    Cons:
    The training was not the best. But when you do need help the majority of the time there customer service is great.

    We chose Fareharbor over the others because the sales rep really dug into what we needed as a company.

    As we grew as a company it didn’t provide the necessary reporting and booking management we needed.

    FareHarbor Has Finger On Pulse of My Business & Like Having One's Own Private Team!

    I grew up with eTix, moved along with ZERVE (whom I adored) and then came into FareHarbor once ZERVE bit the dust. FareHarbor had some kinks at first but then took the torch and ran with it like a leader well in touch with things. I like that FareHarbor gets that although there's a template or universal aspect to tour businesses, that there are also some like my own that are constantly changing, evolving and pushing the envelope and do more than stay conventional. It means the world that their team is open to my evolution and are willing to work to create new dimensions to their own system to help me fulfill my vision! That's massive and money in the bank!

    Sounds cliche, but it's very organic and "thinks" like someone in the tour industry. It's almost scary! It's like the software knows what I'm thinking at times, stays ahead of me but then other times, it's like I'm teaching it new things. Very collaborative feeling.
    Cons:
    I doubt if anything is dummy proof but this is as close as it can get. I do hope that in the future, they will find a way for me to add some alternative things to the checkout for the customer. I have a product that is related to the traveler experience and would love to have it as a check out option right before they buy the tour tickets or complete the transaction because I feel its like a final sale's plug reminder that they might either jump on board with or be interested enough to go back and review the product's description and be influenced to purchase it last second. Currently its an item for sale but its too separated from where I think it needs to be personally.

    I can’t say there is anything about FareHarbor that I like. They did pay regularly without problems.
    Cons:
    Customers constantly complained that it was hard to use. Additionally, the Help or Support provided is weak.

    Reasons for switching to FareHarbor

    VQuip quit doing online booking so I had to switch.

    Good if you're a big business.

    They made promises that they said would “never” change…
    Cons:
    After doing business with them for 6 years, they violated everything they promised us. Stole money out of our revenue on terms we never agreed to. Opened our business up to disputes with zero help. Even support and our “account manager” neglects to help fix issues they caused.

    Fareharbor is nearly flawless with integrations to concierges and third party resellers. Customer support is top notch and fast.
    Cons:
    It looks like it was built in 1994 and the cost is expensive but it does exactly what we need it to do.

    It originally was easy to set up and use. Their support was great and everybody uses the tools so it was not bad to set up.
    Cons:
    They got away from everything that made them great. They don't innovate, their fees are higher and their support went overseas and can't solve problems. It went from best in class to extremely frustrating.

    Fareharbor is headed in the wrong direction

    The platform and customer service used to be a industry leader and game changer, and now has become a burden.
    Cons:
    Very disappointed. Was baited into letting Fareharbor build us a new and free website 5 years ago, I asked my account manager (who has meanwhile left the company) and made sure copyrights are and owership, and they promised everything would be owned by us with no strings attached. Fareharbor now won't show us any written contract that we signed or were lured in with. Starting October 31 2024, FareHarbor sends an email with new policy changes for website hosting. No warning we are told the website is theirs now and Fareharbor disputes anything they promised, and claim ownership of the website, litterally forcing you to pay above market rate ($5,000) hosting fees for or leave without a website and lose even more. You can't keep and manage your "own" website unless you pay $5,000. It's outraging to say the least and a complete bait & switch tactic executed without warning and enough time to reasonably avoid financial damage. It literally feels they stole the rights to our website and all our owned content and pictures, that we had for 15 years. Our site will be offline unless we pay $5,000, every year and only give us 2 months to build a new website with someone else or be offline. Fareharbor, it is common sense that you don't treat a company that made you a furtune that way, and presenting your most loyal clients with a new reality after the fact with no reasonable alternative. What a break of trust. We trust Fareharbor with thousands of transactions and financial data information to turn around and do this to us. Thats not being a good partner and I can not recommend Fareharbor any more. I have referred many new start ups and existing companies to sign up with Fareharbor. Again, I don't recommend at this point to sign up with Fareharbor any more, unless Fareharbor admits their mistake and change direction immediately. Fortunately and unfortunately for FareHarbor "ACTIONS SPEAK LOAUDER THAN WORDS". The platform and customer service used to be a industry leader and game changer, and now has become a burden. Thier processes has become very ineffecient, e.g. the highly important booking calendar builds are being ridled with cumbersome new forms to fill out, or making repetive steps for each individual item that Fareharbor used to be able to just make a dublicate in the past. Making changes to affiliate rates has do be done and set up new every time for each affiliates, making redundant form entries that take hours. The process to make changes and future builds has become ever more complicated and less customized, with Fareharbor puting the time burden on us the clients. What used to be handled in one conversation/phone call with your account manager now takes hours to jump through several forms and steps. It can take weeks and months before a calendar goes live nowadays and then often is a poorely executed and synced product in terms of resources, capacities, dates/time, and availability. It is ver frustrating that after 5 years we spend more time troubleshooting for months to find errors and mistakes made by the build team. What used to be a same or next day finished task such as to build (dublicate a booking calendar) can take months, and many follow up calls for the request to not be dropped. It is the time we don't have and the burden we were promised Fareharbor was going to take away from us that has been more and more put back on us now over the years. Account managers are doing what they can, I can't complain about [sensitive content hidden], he is working hard and he is great. However, he is being left high and dry by Fareharbor's poor top down decisions as well. Fareharbor, you don't plug the goose that laid your eggs. Be aware that there are better platforms out there now!
