Pros:

Best part is that you don't need to worry about server demands or shortage of resources. You just build your app in any language and app engine will take care of resource allocation and scaling. It scales up automatically if your demand increases.

Cons:

It's little expensive sometimes if you have low user base. But it really makes the deployment and development both easy.
