About Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a cloud-based group chat solution that helps teams collaborate on documents. Its key features include messaging, conferencing and file sharing. Microsoft Teams has replaced Skype for Business as Microsoft's online meeting solution.

The solution helps users store files online, manage documents, create groups and receive notifications. It is customizable for each team and users can communicate through instant messaging, online meetings, calling and web conferencing. The collaboration tool can be used to work on files within Microsoft 365 apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Sharepoint. Additional features include open application processing interface, assistant bots, conversation search, contact search, and multi-factor authentication.

Microsoft Teams integrates with third-party applications such as GitHub, Microsoft Office, Power BI, Delve, Planner, Trello and more. The application is available on a one-time subscription and support is available via phone and online help desk.

Overall I'd say my experience with Microsoft Teams has been extremely positive. I've never encountered any problems or issues while using Teams at home or at work except when trying to access on my Macbook or Iphone.

The go-to meeting software.

5

Teams is the go-to for meetings, online presentations and collaboration. Via video or text chat, it just works properly with no drama. Particularly great is collaboration across documents and files. Easy to use and understand with through customisation options available for advanced users.

Pros:
Slick, works perfectly with other Microsoft products. Is the leader in meeting tech (having taken over from Zoom since the pandemic). The customer support team are very knowledgeable: and offer solutions, suggestions, a thorough explanation alongside solutions. When we experienced issues during setup they called us immediately (from the US) and talked us through the solution, explaining the what and the why. They also assured customisation for our particular setup.
Cons:
Recently Microsoft have removed Teams from some of the lower cost standard 365 packages, offering it as a standalone subscription. While they have slightly reduced the cost of these subscriptions, it remains higher-cost to implement both.

Reasons for switching to Microsoft Teams

We still use Zoom alongside Teams, but Teams has become our default for video conferencing, collaboration and chat due to its tight integration with windows and office 365.

Cons:
So far, I am happy and I see I can now add two accounts and switch between the two. This was last issue I had.

Cons:
The con is that you cannot share two screens at once . It only allows one screen and at Wells Fargo in our department, we have two monitors.

Reasons for switching to Microsoft Teams

Company wide decision, explained that teams was more efficient way and can do all of our company meetings on it and integrates with workday.

Grow with MS Teams

4

MS Teams is the sort of product that grows on you. Initially, I would not have chosen it because similar apps like Zoom or Google Meet seem more intuitive. However, after the initial hurdle of learning how to use it well, it now feels like a natural choice that completes MS Office.

Ratings Breakdown

Pros:
It integrates well with MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook). You can message, do video conferencing and share files all at the same time and in one place so you don't have to switch apps all the time. I find this very useful as team members can collaborate in real time and you get rid of the "I will have a look and get back to you" issue. It facilitates decision-making.
Cons:
It's not as user-friendly as some of the similar products. If you want to make good use of it, you will have to spend some time learning it well. And even when you do, if others don't know it, you might waste time explaining to them how SharePoint works.

Reasons for switching to Microsoft Teams

I prefer the SharePoint option for file sharing in MS Teams.

Teamwork Just Works With MS Teams

4

Overall I've been using Teams for several years and while it was a little clunky at first and the user interface was lacking, they have continuously upgraded and improved the overall user experience. Teams is probably my most used tool on my computer as I'm in a few video calls a day. I don't think I could live without Teams at this point!

Ratings Breakdown

5
Ease of use
5
Value for money
4
Customer support
5

Pros:
If you're already part of a Microsoft organization Teams is the common sense solution to video conferencing and calling as it'll integrate easily with your other systems. Teams works very well with other MS software like Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. For organizations that are hybrid or fully remote Teams is a great tool for team collaboration and it is also convenient to be able to simultaneously work on projects in Excel/Powerpoint etc with other team members during live meetings. Teams is incredibly easy to use and I consider it a very robust workplace communication tool.
Cons:
For users outside our organization or teams that are not on Microsoft they sometimes have issues with joining our video calls. We often have clients request meetings on other platforms that are native to their own internal teams like Zoom or Google Meet. While Teams is a solid option, not every organization uses it so there is some unfamiliarity with it for external teams.
