About Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a cloud-based group chat solution that helps teams collaborate on documents. Its key features include messaging, conferencing and file sharing. Microsoft Teams has replaced Skype for Business as Microsoft's online meeting solution.

The solution helps users store files online, manage documents, create groups and receive notifications. It is customizable for each team and users can communicate through instant messaging, online meetings, calling and web conferencing. The collaboration tool can be used to work on files within Microsoft 365 apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Sharepoint. Additional features include open application processing interface, assistant bots, conversation search, contact search, and multi-factor authentication.

Microsoft Teams integrates with third-party applications such as GitHub, Microsoft Office, Power BI, Delve, Planner, Trello and more. The application is available on a one-time subscription and support is available via phone and online help desk.

A Must Have for Any Organization

5

I have been a Microsoft Teams user since Skype for Business converted. Teams is a solid tool. Integration with Copilot M365 makes it one of the most powerful tools on the market today.

Pros:
Federation is the best part of teams. I can chat with clients, vendors, partners and colleagues within other organizations. It creates seamless communication, even outside of the organization.
Cons:
Outages! That is the worst part. In our org we use Teams for telephony as well. When there is a large-scale Microsoft Outage, Teams is DOA.

Reasons for switching to Microsoft Teams

Webex Connect is a premium product. As a Microsoft shop, the integration with other tools like Dynamics, SharePoint, OneDrive, OneNote, Planner (shall I go on?) is critical.

Microsoft Teams for the Win

4

I've used Microsoft Teams for over 6 years at an organization with about 150 employees and I like it a lot. Scheduling meetings, adding outside users to calls, setting up chat threads, and other features common to programs like this are easy and intuitive on Teams.

Pros:
Microsoft Teams effectively combines the instant messaging/chat interface with the video call/meeting platform within the same program, which offers an advantage over the Slack & Zoom combo I've seen in some organizations.
Cons:
Within the Teams desktop app interface, there's a lot available, which is nice if you know what it all is and use everything. But for beginners or simple users, it can be a little cluttered and even overwhelming.

Reasons for switching to Microsoft Teams

Our IT department made the decision to get the company on all Microsoft products

Pros:
I have used it for Parent/Teacher conferences, conferences with other teachers, and with people providing PD. It rarely glitches and is a great way to communicate.
Cons:
I cannot explain how or why, but it seems that some laptops don't like the default audio settings, so a person sometimes has to figure out the audio settings in order to hear the other person or for the other person to hear them. I honestly think this is an issue with the computer and not the app itself.

Microsoft Teams Makes The Dream Work!

Pros:
I love how teams is easy to use and has the ability to adapt to all my companies needs. It keeps the whole team on the same page without having to clutter up our inboxes. Being able to instantly message speeds up response time and allows us to more effectively and efficiently respond to clients and employees. Since we already pay for Microsoft Office, it is a no brainer to use Teams!
Cons:
Some of our team was hesitant to use "another program" they would have to remember to check. It would be helpful if the default was for Teams to always be open and notifications to always pop up since some folks will forget to open it.

Reasons for switching to Microsoft Teams

We were already paying for Microsoft Office! We were using the free version of slack but it just isn't as robust as Teams.

Pros:
I love that is so user friendly and great for team collaboration. It integrates with our phone system and crm. It is a great communication tool.
Cons:
The con is that you cannot share two screens at once . It only allows one screen and at Wells Fargo in our department, we have two monitors.

Reasons for switching to Microsoft Teams

Company wide decision, explained that teams was more efficient way and can do all of our company meetings on it and integrates with workday.

Trusted, reliable, now more user friendly

5

I have noticed a dramatic improvement if Microsoft Teams over the last few years, prompted by the extensive use we more name of video meetings. Overall, the tool has become much easier to use, more approachable. The impression is that Microsoft has taken the time to look at what popular competitors offers and what James them successful to come up with updates to better suit a wider audience. They layout and features are today far more welcoming and relevant to everyday application. These are aspects presenting some more room for improvement, still. What I am most pleased about is however its reliability that is superior to others. It's a trusted tool, for professional and personal purposes.

Still work to do in the overall look, feel, customisability and fun side of the experience. Better pricing would be a bonus

Reasons for choosing Microsoft Teams

Overall more reliable. More consistent experience.

Pros:
I enjoy the calendar management feature of Teams most. The display keeps me organized, on track and also helps with scheduling meetings for large groups.
Cons:
If you have to update a meeting after the original invite is sent, the update resends the entire invite. This forces all attendees to have to re-accept the invitation and can create confusion. I wish there was a better way for the changes to be reflected on the invite.
