About Photobucket

Photobucket is a web-based image and video hosting platform designed to help businesses share and store images securely. It lets users store non-compressed original photographs in the cloud for future reference. Key features include asset sharing, file conversion, asset library, search or filter and mobile application.

Teams using Photobucket can host images on the internet through the content delivery network (CDN), which are optimally compressed in order to appear higher in search results. The application uses 256 Bit RSA encryption to protect EXIF data attached to digital photographs. Users can upload pictures to Photobucket and share them across multiple social media platforms for increased visibility.

Photobucket offers one-click filters, image overlaying, and other photo editing features such as flip, crop, rotate and more. Mobile applications for Android and iOS devices are also offered, allowing users to remotely edit, compress and share digital photographs.

Photobucket is available on monthly as well as annual subscription and support is extended via documentation.

A workhorse from the early 2000s

Overall, the software is simple to use and easy to learn. It's a great resource to budding photographers in my opinion.

Pros:

Photobucket has been around forever and has always been my go to for image and photo management since the early 2000s. The ease of use, value for money, and asset management features have been great all these years.

Cons:

I dislike that it sort of fell out of use after Instagram came up. I would recommend it to amateur photographers who need a place to dump photos while on a hike or shoot.

Photobucket is the Myspace of Photo Sharing

I still have some of my old photos there but I rarely use it anymore. It needs to be updated and rebooted with a fresh makeover.

Pros:

Photobucket was my go to for photo-sharing back in the day. I was able to share and embed so much.

Cons:

Unfortunately, Photobucket started charging outrageous prices and everyone moved on.

Reasons for switching to Photobucket

Flickr was outshined by photobucket with it's ability to share so easily.

Photobucket Is a Great Example of How Not to Do Business

Photobucket was probably the top image hosting site for a long time but they really screwed their users over by requiring them to pay ridiculous fees ($400!) to access their own photos and thus was the Photobucket heist and mass exodus of 2017. It's a c;assic sample of greed and failure.

Easy navigation to upload pictures and get link codes to post on forums or social media. Storage limits seemed to not be an issue.

Cons:

Everything else. Data breaches, extortion for use of your own photos, no way to retrieve your photos or import them to another platform

While it was free and operated properly it was an acceptable and popular product.

Steer Clear, It’s Probably the worst app/site in its category

The only good perk about this app was the free storage for photos and videos. That was years ago, however.

Cons:

Oh boy, where to begin. First off, if you were a user about a decade ago you were thrilled at the chance to have free storage for photos and videos. Downside of the app was that every backup it would backup all your photos again and you’d have so many duplicates. Now if you want to access any photos you had stored on an account you have to pay or they’ll allow a 7 day trial to download your photos and videos… individually. Each one has to be done one by one and for someone who has them stored and was in need of the storage that is a severely long time consuming and near impossible task. This site and app just sucks now

Pros:

Photobucket used to be the best place to upload images and then share them on forums websites or whatever, they mastered the art of sharing that way.

Cons:

they fell off the radar, they started doing weird payment plans. it lost its usability it was almost a hassle to even try and upload anything on it

Photobucket was once king but the king has fallen.

I was once a huge supporter and user of Photobucket. Their price was too costly for mere picture hosting though and I switched. Sadly I had embedded the pictures on many sites and it was a pain to replace them.

I loved the ease of upload and free ability to share across multiple platforms.

Cons:

When they started charging and hold pictures basically as ransom, I was out. There are plenty of free sites that still do the same thing.
