About Beam AI

Beam AI is an end-to-end takeoff software for general contractors, subcontractors, or suppliers. It fully automates the takeoff process, eliminating the need for endless screen clicking or sifting through numerous plan sheets. Users can upload the site plan, set the work scope, and let Beam AI streamline the workflow. The software supports all trades, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, landscape, asphalt, concrete, drywall, flooring, masonry, insulation, painting, irrigation, steel, woodwork, and earthwork, offering comprehensive automation for accurate estimates.

With Beam AI, teams can manage more estimates, allowing them to focus on refining estimates, value engineering analysis, vendor discussions, and customer service. Completed takeoffs are sent directly to the inbox with clear, color-coded HD sitemaps and can be exported in various formats.

Detailed take offs, when questions need to be answer there are quick responses to our inquire and revisions happen fast

Cons:

Sometimes the turn around time for these take a bit longer than expected but we understand sometimes the project is bigger than others and can take time

Chief Executive Officer

We've been able to increase bid volume by 4-5 bids a week due to Beam AI. Team members that have been doing manual takeoffs in the past can now submit projects to Beam and have it working in the background so they can accomplish other things.

Pros:

Very easy to use and put time back into my week. I historically have not been able to bid on projects due to time constraints, but since we've implemented Beam AI I've been able to bid on 3-4 projects each week.

Cons:

Nothing comes to mind, the value greatly outweighs the cost of the software for our team. The only thing I will say is that user needs to allow for a 2-3 day turnaround on the takeoffs. That hasn't been an issue for us though, just something we now plan for.

Reasons for choosing Beam AI

Beam had a more complete solution for our trade and had backend support that was rather robust.

Just upload your documents. That's it! This opens up the door for things that may have been set aside - it gives you the time to catch up while you know that the takeoff is still being completed.

Cons:

The reporting that is received - particularly the excel format does not group each item to a specific scope. For example, sanitary sewer items are mixed with water main and storm sewer which makes it a little difficult to follow.

Pros:

I like not having to spend the time adding up quantities of block, grout, rebar, etc. Beam AI does all of that, and more if I ask. This time saved is spent on more accurate estimates, and more estimates completed.

Cons:

It's not fully hands off, you still need a trained eye to give a quality review. Almost all of the time it is accurate but i think it needs double checked to be sure. This only takes less than 30 minutes, not hours.

It saves me a lot of time. It is very user friendly. It makes it easier for me to get a lot more done in a day. We went from taking estimates off by hand, to using a digital software, to now using AI, and it has made a huge difference in my time management.

Cons:

I can't say there was anything I disliked. The only thing that was difficult at first was just getting used to the way it worked, but also understanding what information was essential to feed AI to get an accurate take off.

Cons:

If I had to pick, it would be releasing some of the control regarding takeoffs. Having done takeoffs for 15 years, letting go was hard.
