ILIAS ist extrem vielfältig und bietet für viele verschiedene Lernanlässe die passenden Tools und das On Premise und somit unter eigener Datenhohheit.

Cons:

Der Einstieg ist aufgrund der großen Vielfalt recht komplex. Man muss am Ball bleiben und braucht genügend Personal, welches sich damit auskennt.

Self-paced learning system with authoring tools

Pros:

The authoring tool provides everything you need for the management of content directly on the platform. You can create user groups to enhance internal networking and transform video tutorials into effective online learning courses. It also provides features for organizing and managing tests and evaluations on courses with final certification for users following a self-paced learning course.

Cons:

If you can read German, then you have lots of documentation. Not everything is translated. When users edit a competence profile, it is difficult for them to keep track of their progress. and they have no means to know when they have fulfilled a profile. Sometimes the PDF generated has errors.

Vendor Response

ILIAS is self paced only if programmed accordingly. While it is true that most documentation is in German, there are plenty of expert service provider outside Germany that can support you in other languages. The Portfolio function allows user to see what they edited in the competence profile.

ILIAS Lernmanagementsystem

Wir nutzen ILIAS an der katho seit über zwölf Jahren, die Plattform hat sich als Standard für Lehrangebote etabliert. ILIAS stellt einen Kern an relevanten Funktionen zur Verfügung, weitere Software (Videotelefonie, Plagiatscan etc.) integrieren wir laufend mithilfe von Plugins. Insgesamt ein hochflexibles und empfehlenswertes System.

Die Anzahl der Lernmöglichkeiten, die flexible Anpassbarkeit, die Kurs- und Lernverwaltung, das Rollen- und Rechtemanagement, die umfangreichen Module zur Durchführung von Prüfungen.

Wir nutzen ILIAS an unserer Hochschule seit mehr als 20 Jahren und sind überzeugt von diesem Lernmanagementsystem. ILIAS bietet zwahlreiche Funktionen zum kooperativen Arbeiten im digitalen Raum, für die Durchführung von E-Prüfungen und die Organisation von Kursen, erleichtern unsere Lehre erheblich. Datenschutz und -sicherheit sowie Barrierearmut sind in den vergangenen Jahren noch wichtiger geworden. Gerade in diesen Bereichen sind wir mit ILIAS sehr zufrieden.

Cons:

Die Usability ist bei manchen Objekten nach wie vor umständlich. Für optisch angsprechende Kurse und Inhalte ist eine gewisse Erfahrung notwendig.

ILIAS 10 aus der Sicht eines neuen Anwenders

Habe es noch nicht vollumfänglich an´s laufen bekommen. Arbeite da noch dran weil ich an den vorgenannten Punkten gerade keine "hänge".

Der Funktionsumfang innerhalb des Systems. Es gibt sehr viele gute Einstellungen die für eine Lernsoftware sehr gut und wichtig sind.

Cons:

Die Art der Installation und Konfiguration. Das es für die Installation kein Web Frontend gibt wäre an für sich o.k. aber es werden so viele Abhängigkeiten benötigt die separat installiert und verknüpft werden müssen macht es sehr schwer für neue Anwender das System überhaupt an´s laufen zu bringen. z.B. das JAVA Server einbinden um Teilnehmerzertifikate zu erstellen ist schlimm. Oder auch dsas hinzufügen von Plugins. Da sollte man sich ein Beispiel an Wordpress z.B. nehmen.

Ab ILIAS 7 sind individuelle Design-Anpassungen toll zu realisieren. Mit wenig IT-Kenntnissen können Tutoren ansprechende Seitenoberflächen in Kombination mit den pädagogischen Objektbausteinen gestalten.

Cons:

Dass es nach wie vor nicht so bekannt wie Moodle ist, was eigentlich verwunderlich ist.

- Eine ausgewachsene OpenSource Lernplattform - Das Rollen- und Rechte-Management von ILIAS ist extrem flexibel und mächtig, es gibt eigentlich kein Szenario das sich nicht umsetzen lässt.

Cons:

- Auf Autorenseite manchmal "eigenwillige" bzw. gewöhnungsbedürftige Bedienungskonzepte, z.B. beim Editor

ILIAS als Lernplattform für eine Hochschule

ILIAS ist ein sehr mächtiges Tool, das sich zwar nicht an den allerneusten UI Standards im Web messen kann, aber es ist solide und es existieren viele Supportfirmen, Anwender, Plugins und auch Content, der zum Einsatz gebracht werden kann. Es gibt eine sehr aktive Community.

Ein ausgezeichnetes Tool, in dem Nutzer Content nutzen und erzeugen können und das sich für elektronische Prüfungen eignet. Einfache unternehmensweite Bereitstellung von Content. Die Nutzung der Kurse selbst ist einfach und gut. Es können auch Zertifikate für die Teilnahme und Abschluss automatisch erzeugt werden, ebenso wie Lernfortschrittskontrolle.

Cons:

Der Einstieg in ILIAS ist kein Selbstläufer. Es wird eine Schulung empfohlen. Die Administration von ILIAS erfordert etwas Erfahrungswissen. Das Rechtesystem in ILIAS ist sehr mächtig und läßt viele Szenarien zu, was es ideal für Unternehmensanforderungen macht. Es braucht aber auch mE mindestens eine halbe Vollzeitstelle technische Betreuung
