ManageEngine OpManager Review

4

OpManager is a versatile tool with a reasonable price. It offers many tools and this helps butgets of customers as configuring only the necessary modules at that time. Their licensing is mainly based on their module selections and this ability helps customers in a good way. Additionally, they have standalone and distributed structures which is found very adaptable for the customer environments. This only makes the product is a good choice.

Pros:
The product is easy to use and covers most of the needs for infrastructure monitoring. Additionally, it has many modules which can be added like Network Configuration Manager, Netflow Analyzer, OpUtils, etc which helps network teams to get the most out of a monitoring platform. Once you're familiar with the UI (which is very short time), you begin monitoring immediately.
Cons:
OpManager is a great tool but new features comes into the product a bit slow. Additionally, application and network monitoring concepts begin to intertwine with each other today but this is a bit slow for OpManager because I believe OpManager and Applications Manager (app monitoring tool) began this journey separately and now they're being merged in a manner of time. It's not bad but it can better.

OpManager for infrastructure monitoring

3

We installed it in our OT environment and partly in our IT environment. Decided to use Site 24/7 for our IT but still have it running in our OT environment, but could be moving away from it to PRTG/Solarwinds or other brand.

Pros:
We where using Service Desk from Manage Engine and decided to expand that platform to OpManager with special focus on the OT network because it is On premises based application. It is easy to use and fairly reasonable priced.
Cons:
Strange to say but the fact it is solely on premises is also a negative factor for we can not monitor from outside without opening up our Firewall for that data. Map feature was not up to standard.

Reasons for choosing ManageEngine OpManager

More easy to use and easier to set up. Part of a stack we where using at that time.

Great product with a wealth of functionality. Real easy to use and quick to setup, the more you spend time configuring the more useful features and metrics you find.

Pros:
Easy to use, quick to learn and get setup. A lot more device metrics for tracking than we expected, makes it easy to see which devices are not only down but are having load issues, and has helped us to right-size our environment.
Cons:
Some of the features like the NOC view need a bit more work and are clunky. Would be nice to have documentation on the database structure so we can create some of our own SQL reporting.

Reasons for choosing ManageEngine OpManager

Other products had complicated costing models and extra tools we did not need or want.

Reasons for switching to ManageEngine OpManager

Subscription model changed an was going to make it too expensive for us to maintain. Switched to something with way more functionality at a slightly lower price.
