A highly accurate tool for website audits and overall performance evaluation.

I have been using SEMrush for the past 8–9 years, as I work in performance marketing. Very accurate tool for website audits and finding technical problems.

This tool is invaluable for understanding organic and AI-driven traffic and for researching high-volume keywords for websites. Overall, it is one of the best tools for me.

Cons:

For small business owners, the website's pricing is very high. we can add limited project ad users on basc plan.

Pros:

What I like most about Semrush is the quality of the information and how easy it is to use that data with real clients. I use it to show businesses where they stand with SEO, how they compare to competitors, and where clear opportunities exist to grow. Semrush has helped me win new clients by showing the tools and process I use, and it’s been essential for improving websites and blogs through keyword research, competitive analysis, and small weekly optimizations that add up over time. It’s a practical tool that supports long-term growth, not just reports.

Cons:

The main downside is that Semrush can feel overwhelming at first due to the number of tools available. However, the customer support team is very helpful and does a great job walking you through the platform, starting with the most important features and then covering smaller tools that can also make an impact. I often recorded support sessions so I could rewatch them later, since there’s a lot of valuable information and tips to absorb all at once. The more you understand the tool, the more value you get from it.

The Swiss Army knife for maximizing digital marketing with competitive intelligence

Overall, it saves you a lot of time and work in different areas of digital marketing by centralizing everything on a single platform, with a fairly large database of keywords and backlinks, making it possible to analyze/work on any digital project, whether they are small digital businesses or large projects, their support is quite good, even offering a multitude of training resources and new AI-related features that they are introducing.

The Swiss Army knife for maximizing digital marketing with competitive intelligence: Keyword Research, On-Page SEO, Off-Page SEO, Local SEO, SEM, Visibility/Traffic Analysis of online projects, Social Media Marketing, AI-assisted SEO Friendly Content Generation and many more tools in a single platform.

Cons:

Although it has some features/functionalities with modular pricing depending on whether you want to activate them or not, there is a base price that includes many features that I practically don't use, and I would prefer a more modular initial price or a possible cheaper monthly fee.

Semrush has so many opportunities to improve, but definetly is a good tool

Pricing and how hard is to pause the service, sometimes I need to pause it and it can be hard to just pause the service.

Semrush are now just a bunch of scammers.

When it worked a few years ago. It was not bad. But now their support is terrible. No rectification of a clear fault. Replying with there is no error when there is a clear error.

Cons:

We've noticed more and more discrepancies and missing data that are HUGE in comparison to every other tool. or they are flatout just missing. eg. Position Tracking tool - our most importantly used tool. volume for a keyword in Google Keyword Planner set to same location is showing a volume of 590 and in semrush its a flat 0. Most of position tracking over different client accounts are showing 0 volume for their most primary keywords and in turn making our traffic metrics look like garbage in position tracking, when infact they're booming. I raised this issue with their support just after my renewal, they stretched the responses out for 2 weeks after multiple follow up attempts and then wont refund me my 5k renewal because it's now outside the strict 7 day refund period. However the issue was raised literally two days after the renewal where i mentioned im giving them the opportunity to resolve and update all my campaigns first before i ask for a refund. I did the right thing - they want to scam me. Semrush in my eyes now is just a scam. Stay away. There are much better tools out there and weve moved off and will never look back and have only but the worst to say about semrush like most the other reviews on here.

Beware of SEMrush’s Cancellation & Refund Process

Pros:

The platform itself may be useful, but their cancellation policy, lack of transparency around automated communications, and refusal to refund despite timely cancellation attempts are major red flags. I strongly recommend reading the fine print and being very cautious before subscribing.

Cons:

I had a very frustrating experience trying to cancel my SEMrush subscription. I attempted to cancel before the renewal charge, yet I was still billed and then denied a refund. What made this worse was the cancellation process itself. Their system repeatedly sent the same automated email over and over, never progressing to the next step. At no point does SEMrush clearly disclose that these email responses are AI-generated, which is misleading and wastes a lot of time. The process only moved forward after I explicitly asked to speak with a human, something that is not clearly indicated anywhere in the cancellation flow. Even after following the steps and attempting to cancel in good faith before being charged, SEMrush refused to issue a refund. Also they nickel and dime you about everything.

Pros:

As a content writer Semrush is an all-in-one tool that supports my freelancing. I feel confident using its secure platform knowing that my account and project information are safe. Although semrush is ot the cheapest tool its variety of features makes it work every penny. No need to juggles between many tools. Semrush's customer support is also very responsive and super helpful. I love the site audit tool, helps me check the health of my website and what i should do to fix it. Scaling my content writing business has been boosted by my use of Semrush.

Cons:

Semrush's pricing can by expensive especially for freelancers and small business and the platforms many features and data points can take time to master for beginners.

Smooth from the beginning, but also with a learning curve. There are so many possibilities and metrics that it takes some time to really hone in on all of them.

Semrush is the only keyword research tool on the market right now that shows how content performs across AI platforms like ChatGPT and search - an important SEO building block in 2025 and going forward, especially for content creators.

Cons:

The price! While Semrush definitely delivers on value for money, the monthly fees are steep for small business owners like me in comparison to other tools - but they can also only do half or a third what Semrush does.
