N-able N-central is an IT management solution that enables organizations to manage and track IT devices. The solution comes with key features that include patch management, antivirus protection, backup and disaster recovery.

N-Central - linux

The team seems very happy with it.I am excited about the Mac and Linux additions as that is great for my current clients

Pros:

They have introduced patching on Linux. There is now vulnerability scanning on mac. And Apple File Vault as i can read..not used it yet

Cons:

At the moment, i really don't use it enough to have any negative perspective on it. It works a tad complex on setup, maybe

Great RMM Tool

Great! The quality of the technical support is the biggest plus for us. Its quick to get assistance and the staff really know there stuff.

Pros:

Great features with technical support to back them up. The Patching system is great and has helped us find many gaps that the old one missed. Reporting is also good, and the UI is easy for Techs to navigate.

Cons:

Take Control had a major outage around the time we went live last year. Later we found out that we are on a shared instance of the software. I would be nice if there where a licensing option for a dedicated instance with LTS software guaranty. Also, the Probes can only be on Windows, we would like to see a Linux Probe option. ARM64 builds of the Probe software would great to see as well.

Better value, more features. The other tools did not meet our reporting needs.

Missing NAble at my new job

I no longer work at the place that used this. Actually miss it over ScreenCnnect. Wish we used this at my new employer

Cove/N-Able Backup

Great, would recommend to other MSPs. We’ve been using and enabling Cove/N-able at our business for over a year now.

Pros:

I like that Cove sends backups directly to cloud storage that’s isolated and immutable by design, meaning ransomware or local failures can’t easily corrupt your backups. Cloud storage is included in the pricing, removing the need to buy and manage expensive local hardware.

Cons:

That reporting lacks depth and dashboards could be more customizable or easier to navigate. UI isn’t super user friendly, but the training on it was good.

Pros:

It's easy to get started with compared to other applications like it. I've worked with other RMM's but I feel like with N-Central you get much more out of the box.

Cons:

Take Control, the performance compared to other alternatives like ScreenConnect or Teamviewer are not even comparable. I feel like there are a lot to gain for Nable if they focus on the performance of Take Control. Otherwise its good.

N-Central makes our monitoring easier, in ConnectWise Automate you have to build your monitoring yourself. In N-Central you have it out of the box

Highly Customizable RMM with Top-Notch Support

Overall, we have been very pleased with our experience using N-Able. The software is highly customizable and N-Able management and support personnel have gone above and beyond our expectations.

The software is highly customizable, allowing us to configure monitoring and management for almost any aspect of our managed systems.

Cons:

Reporting capabilities could be improved. Reporting is the only aspect of N-Central that is not superior to previous RMM tools that we have used.

N-Central was a much richer product when we evaluated it.

Reasons for switching to N-central

We primarily switched because the level of support we received from Kaseya dropped drastically after the company was obtained by Thoma Bravo.

Great Prodcut

Overall happy switch from connectwise , N able is updated and feel like they are adding new items all the time.

Easy integration with on Prem Ad , save time on password resets. The monitoring is also nice as we can look up any hardware specs

Cons:

Can't move the columns where I like. It a robust system but it does take some getting used to.

Better overall customer service, engineers made sure we were conformable with the product before trying to sell it.

Just Right

Fantastic honestly. Coming from other, more complex RMMs without the same usability, and also from simpler, more user-friendly RMMs without the needed complexity, N-central has been the perfect middle of the road where you can do everything you need and easily figure out how to get it done.

Easy to use and does everything we could possibly need it to do, from remote access, patch management, scripting, maintenance, you name it. Of all the RMMs I've used as an IT person over the years, N-central has been the best mix of usability and functionality.

Cons:

I honestly don't have anything to complain about with N-central!

N-Central | Your single view of your customers equipment

We have used Ncentral for 17 years and find it valuable to our business. We have customised the email alerts to be informative to our technician's and have integrated with many 3rd party services allowing full visibility of issues often before the customer notices.

Pros:

It is straight forward to use and makes it easy to see where issues are. Automation manager has lots of great features that allow us to customise our support and see data from other systems giving us a single pane of glass to view issues.

Cons:

backups still only offer FTP as a way to store off appliance which is frustrating. It would be good if cloud storage could be used.

N-Central is a good RMM

It was fine, using N-central was good and we could monitoring a LOT. We were able to create automations, self heals and use scripts to good use. But Patching definitely lacked.

It had a lot of options/monitoring and features so that you could monitor as much or as little as you wanted within the RMM.

Cons:

The patching. It was very confusing, had a lot of filters, based on rules, based on auto approve rules. Then after all of that, and with support looking too. The patching didn't work

Offered more monitoring, and automations. It was better alligned with our missions
