About Donorbox

Donorbox is a cloud-based fundraising and relationship management solution that caters to non-profit organizations and helps them to manage their fundraising activities and interactions with donors.

Donorbox allows users to embed a popup widget on their website via built-in APIs, list pre-filled custom amounts with descriptions and accept monthly recurring donations from donors. The solution enables users to accept payments via cards, Apple Pay, bank transfers and PayPal through their website or a dedicated facebook page.

Donorbox encrypts interactions with donors via industry-standard SSL and TLS encryption technologies. Credit card information is encrypted, tokenized and stored with the Stripe payment processor. It also offers users a donation goal meter and supports multiple languages and currencies.

Additionally, Donorbox supports integration with various third-party applications such as Wordpress, Weebly, Squarespace, Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack and more. Services are offered on a monthly subscription basis that includes support via FAQs and through an online knowledge base.

I love Donorbox. I know which donors are giving to which campaigns. With Donorbox, not only do I receive the donations but I also have the information I need about my donors.

Pros:

It is so easy to create a donation landing page. My organization is international and being able to accept donations in so many currencies including Kenyan Shillings is extremely important to me. Each of my fundraising campaigns has its own page with its own link. One of the most recent things I did is to create a membership campaign. Every month I see the income go directly into my bank account! Thank you Donorbox!

Cons:

I had a little trouble understanding how to navigate the website. And I wish I could just tell Donorbox to accept every currency possible instead of needing to set the additional currencies for each campaign.

Solid, user-friendly fundraising platform for nonprofits

Donorbox is very easy to set up and integrate with an existing website. The donation forms are clean, modern, and intuitive for donors. Recurring donations, campaign tracking, and donor management work well out of the box. I also appreciate the Stripe and PayPal integrations. Overall, it delivers exactly what we needed without unnecessary complexity

Cons:

Some advanced features are limited unless you move to higher tiers. Reporting is solid but could be more flexible for advanced analysis.

EARN's review of Donorbox partnership

The overall experience was good ut the payment processing using only Stripe and PayPal doesn't give room for global payment gateway. Donorbox could consider Electronic Funds Transfer(EFT) for expanded international operations.

Engagement, communication and support for partners and donors.Fundraising and campaign ability. Support team works and respond quickly and effectively.

Cons:

Inability to coordinate activities of partners and processors of payment such as Stripe and PayPal Confusion in differentiating between donations and sales/purchases all lumped together. PayPal is more guilty in this confusion when it forcefully seized EARN 's donations claiming we purchased goods whereas we sre nonprofit Organization which doesn't engage in buy and sale. PayPal unethically seized our donation of $20 and refused to pay while Donorbox watched helplessly and couldn't settle or intervene.

Donorbox has been an excellent tool for my nonprofit. I really appreciate how easy it is to receive donations, whether one-time or recurring, and how smooth the process is for our supporters. Beyond that, the backend features have been a huge help—keeping track of donors, organizing giving history, and automatically generating donation receipts. These services save me time and make it simple to maintain strong communication with our supporters. Overall, Donorbox has made managing donations efficient and stress-free, and I’m grateful for how it helps us focus more on our mission.

Cons:

One area that could be improved is the fees associated with donations. A portion of each gift is taken out for processing, which can add up for a nonprofit like ours. In addition, the speed at which donations are processed and released—especially when working through payment partners like Stripe or PayPal—sometimes feels slower than expected. While I understand these costs and timelines are fairly standard across the industry, it would be a real benefit to see lower fees or quicker turnaround times for funds to reach our organization.

Easy to use with a lot of features

We’ve been using Donorbox since 2017 and have been pretty happy with it so far. I have referred others to this service.

It’s easy to use. I like that we’re able to set up peer fundraisers and different campaigns pretty easily, and change colors according to our branding. It was easy to setup, and allows for recurring donations. I also like the dedication section where people can write a loved one’s name or make a donation on behalf of someone else. I’ve been using it since 2017.

Cons:

Nothing that I can think of—everything is intuitive. I think it’s a little more expensive than Givebutter now, but after using them for 8 years, I don’t think we’ll be switching.

Highly Recommend Donorbox

My experience using Donorbox has been great. I like the ease of use in creating and sharing new campaigns. I like how simply our Donorbox giving page was integrated into our website, and I like the floating donate button we were able to add to our homescreen.

Happy With DonorBox

We had to join DonorBox in a pinch, and it was very easy to set-up and use. It's been a very good platform for us.

Extremely easy to set-up Campaigns and Donation pages in the back-end Easy connectivity to Stripe and ability to have multiple payment methods is a plus Support has been very responsive and easy to work with 60% of our donors cover platform fees, which saves our organization money

Cons:

Salesforce integration is very light-weight and doesn't function well with existing Contacts & Accounts There have been some glitches re: some form codes not behaving correctly on the website (without any indication as to "why") Branding is limited to the main organization on the Account; you can't do conditional logos based on a different 501(c)(3) that's under our same umbrella

Really easy setup and user friendly fundraising platform.

The experience has been great for tracking donors and for donations and promotions for the nonprofit. It is so easy for us to use the platform for our fundraising and it is quick and easy to set up.

It is really easy to use donorbox and that ease of use is perfect for our team and our nonprofit needs. I like how easy it is to integrate this with events and with our website and it's easy to get team members involved.

Cons:

I always want more options for customization. It isn't always easy to create receipts and I wanted a more connected thing for some stripe things, but overall it has been good.

Reasons for choosing Donorbox

Donorbox had a better integration with our other nonprofit tools and with our website. We could use it for part of our fundraising but it didn't require us to pay too much for things we don't need.
