How easy it is to get started with just the basics.

Cons:

not very much that i didn't like. Overall it was fairly easy to get used to, very rewarding tool to own as a builder, contractor, specifier. Easier than Planswift by far. If i had to say a "least favorite" thing, would be too many options, features and modules; maybe a trimmed down version would be helpful for some consumers that don't need EVERY feature, and want to save a little money on the overall cost.

A Great estimating and take off tool for electricians

It has streamlines our estimating with regard to efficiency and accuracy. Nothing is ever missed. We will use Cubit for as long as it available. The RND team are always listening to feedback and implementing changes all the time

Pros:

You can set up all your line items and costings and click away at the plans in the on-screen take off and the estimate builds itself. If you invest the time to set up everything you will reap the benefits 10 fold moving forward. The support is excellent and the staff are friendly.

Cons:

It had some reporting deficiencies that I really wanted from a project management perspective, but as it turns out I am overly pedantic and no software out there does what I wanted. But still a great program

Appalling service - look elsewhere

Don't go anywhere near them - there are much more cost effective options with better customer service available and this is their standard response to emails: "I’m unable to assist you with this issue since your Cubit licence is not covered under software support." Regardless of the version you should be able to run software on a new machine without requiring help from support !!! There average rating from a few reviews is lower than other estimating software with hundreds of reviews. I'm sorry I really can't say anything positive about Cubit or Buildsoft. My experience with them has been nothing but negative - for the money you would expect at the very least to be able to get someone to resolve an issue that is preventing the software from even running.

Nothing - we can't install an older version on a new machine so I can't tell you if it is worth considering. If you are thinking of buying the latest version - read on and be aware that the customer support is appalling. I can only assume some of the positive reviews were paid for. I will be happy to delete or update this review if my experience changes rapidly - buildsoft !!

Cons:

Everything so far - company paid for a standalone licence some time ago and didn't use the software much. (New employee - me) has recently tried to move the software and licence to a new pc and it just won't run - apparently some sort of database problem related to "PostgreSQL". Cubit refuse to assist in solving the problem until we give them another €1900+

This software is a leap forward, as a custom home builder it is invaluable.

After creating a detailed Master template, I'm producing accurate results. This template has evolved and using material quantities from previous projects I'm confident that my waste is on the mark, I'm my trades for only what they install. Seeing no packs of bricks left over, small piles rubbish comprising mainly of packaging materials, my customers see that they are getting value for money, after all they're not paying for valuable materials being wasted.

The take off Viewport, imagine getting accurate measurements to the millimetre when using PDF or DWG files, awesome. Accurate estimates that minimise waste on site reduces costs as I can now produce accurate Estimate Tenders for my clients, essentially I pay my trades only for materials installed. Cubit is a massive time saver, imagine taking off all the bathroom tiling and the contents of the bathroom in less than 3 minutes? Yes, with the Options feature I can do it, time and time again after creating a Template. If you're not using Cubit you're wasting time, money and family time. I hope my competitors don't start using it..........

Cons:

A couple features need tweaking, however, with a little bit of common sense those features can be utilised and essentially incorporated within the take off of my projects. My back ground includes working as estimator for many of the major Sydney based project home builders, with these skills I don't them as Con's just features that require a little more thought to implement.

Using software for my Profession

New features in the software I can now do measuring, (either on screen or manual input) sub or comparison breakup via online portal and produce reports that can also be manipulated in Excel where I need to link to my detailed prelims to provide a summary sheet in line with most builders management requirements.

There will also be some features that could be added in any software. Some take some time to implement and the wait can be frustrating. Other than that no much to dislike.

Far to complicated for the average person unless you have a degree in estimating and computers.

Briefly had the facility to obtain dimensions from plans, but program is not reliable and requires debugging tools. Buildsoft want me to pay for another year so they'llimplement training for beginners.

Only Pro i found was that i can measure plans reasonably quickly. This was in plan mode only. Made life easier for transferring the figures to my old system.

Cons:

The sales people didn't advise the real amount of time spent creating formulas and templates to actually do the first estimate. No templates included to use or modify. You have to figure out how to create the templates and formulas. Confusing instructions on how to set up a pricing schedule. Took 3 different support persons before pointed in right direction. Only wasted a week or so. No easy way to enter prices or update prices. No training for beginners. Have been requesting for 3 years for beginners training. Support doesn't understand that the program is being sold as easy to operate, only for the newby to find out that it's very complicated. Backup doesn't work and you don't find that until the version upgrade erases all information on last version and losing week's of data entry. No, not happy.

The support from Buildsoft in ireland is a compete joke they are unable to fix anything and dont know how resolve problems and the same issues keep happening. They will not improve the software of fix anything and they just dont care. They are also rude and unprofessional

I like the fact that it is all on the one screen and the way it aks you to scale the drawings as soon as you ;load them preventing the problem of using an unscaled drawing

Cons:

You cannot use vector PDF.s on this program & even when using the rasterised PDF's if you zoom in to a point the information on the drawing disappears so you have to zoom back out to refresh it. I found that this problem made the takeoff process very slow in fact it was quicker to do a manual takeoff in some cases. I have made a request to my supervisor to change to another estimating program that can work efficiently, (COSTX)

Must have software

It allows me more time to do multiple takeoff in less time that it has taken me with other software. The custom service is outstanding, you can always get the assistance that you need by just calling and speaking to some live and not having to wait hours or days for someone to get back with you. I am able to do my take and budget at the same time without have to go into other software programs. Great software, for the price and it out perform the expense software on the market.

Pros:

Cubit software is easy to use and allow you to do estimates and take off quickly and accurately. I am able to build assemblies. I been looking for a software that allows me to do multiple items at one time without use taking a lot of time on individual items.

Cons:

there was nothing that i didn't like about the software. I have spent on software that doesn't do half of what Cubit does and a small fraction of the cost.
