LMS @ Ellsworth Adhesives

Overall, LMS is easy to use, troubleshoot in most scenarios, automate and process with. Based on previous experiences with other shipping software, including FedEx and UPS's applications, it is a dream to work with.

Pros:

LMS provides an easy and effective way to process our pick tickets through the shipping process. We ship an average of 700+ pick tickets and often times over 900 packages daily. An estimated 50% of these packages are hazardous or include dangerous goods, LMS's overall ability makes processing these fairly simple. We have had shipping software in the past that required several additional stand-alone software packages to do the same thing that LMS is able to accomplish. There are not many downsides to converting to LMS, especially if you are already using the Latitude Warehouse Mgmt platform.

Cons:

Let me prefix this by stating that is coming from the perspective of a company that ships a lot variety of dangerous goods, both domestically and internationally, we also have a more unique method that is needed for our overall process. I cannot say definitively that this would not be better if not for our internal obstacles. This is also partly on the carrier as well. The one area that I feel as though needs some refinement is within the international dangerous goods shipping. Systematic talking between LMS and FedEx servers for international shipping restrictions is not always accurate. There are instances where LMS will allow or disallow a shipment that it shouldn't, often times but not always we find the opposite when processing it through FedEx Ship Mgr.

Reasons for switching to Latitude Manifest & Shipping System

A team member was at the Pathguide conference when it was revealed, he saw great potential making the move to LMS from what we had currently been using. He was correct. After a few months of planning and working with Pathguide on it, we made the switch and have not looked back.

Easy to use after you figure out how to fix the errors

It has been good, very difficult at the beginning but after you figure out how to fix all the errors it has been very easy and lets you ship things fast.

Easy to use, makes clean looking documents for customs paperwork and BOL. Integrated nicely with our FedEx pricing and prints FedEx labels.

Cons:

Shipping multiple skids with FedEx freight is frustrating. You have to put the heaviest skid in first and work your way to the least heaviest skid. If put in the wrong order it will not process the shipment.

LMS Review

Latitude Manifest and Shipping does a great job of helping manage all aspects of our warehouse processing, from inbound receipts to outbound orders to internal inventory management. The support team is quick to respond to any questions and will go the extra mile to help resolve issues or implement customizations.

Pros:

The software logic is consistent across all warehousing functions, making it easy to train new employees on functionality as long as they had a base understanding of the platform.

Cons:

One thing that I would like to see improvement on is visibility of orders once they have been picked. Currently there is no flag to track the order between picking and shipping, so things like order validating can't be easily tracked without checking the detailed order audit.

Pros:

LMS is extremely easy to use especially if you already use Latitude WMS. The tight integration between the two systems is what makes the software so easy.

Cons:

I'd like to see improvements to carrier discount structures. The "rate shop" functionality works, but its rate shopping the retail rates. I believe that if we enter our discounts, the customer will be billed our discounted rate. More functionality around rate shopping based on our discounts, and billing the customer based on other rules (ie a markup from our cost, or billing the customer retail prices for the carrier that gives us the best discount for the shipment in question)

Handles High Volume with Ease

I love how LMS utilizes barcode readers for bringing up orders quickly. LMS interfaces with our scales to automatically apply package weights to the shipment, then LMS automatically applies the tracking number to the delivery document which gets integrated back into our SAP Business One database.

Pros:

We ship hundreds of packages a day from our warehouse, and LMS allows for great efficiency and quick shipping large volume. Quick scanning of orders with barcode scanners reduces the need for typing and lowers the chance of human error.

Cons:

My only complaint is initial setup difficulty when adding new carriers. Some carriers don't support API calls to get package rates and therefore need rate charts input into the system. Inputting the rate chart can take some time and effort, but once it's in the system, it works very well.

I like how quickly it gets you rates on shipping charges.

Cons:

I still have not learned/ successfully navigated how to properly use the HAZMAT shipping function for this but from what I have tried so far it seems very complicated to use. The only thing I miss having is the function from UPS World ship being able to look at a specific day to find tracking . It would be awesome if LMS could give that function for us to me able to quickly find tracking for our CSR's when we manually input the information into LMS. We can never find it again after it ships and someone asks for tracking a week later.

The package is loaded with functionality and easy to turn features on or off depending on our needs. The initial configuration was elaborate, however the user experience is very easy with minimal learning curve.

Cons:

Software is loaded with features but still required mods to customize.
