About AwardSpring

Designed for small to large educational institutions, AwardSpring is a scholarship management solution that helps create fellowship applications, review student assignments, manage donor engagement, and calculate incoming funds. Key features include bulk awarding, data import/export, custom workflows, fundraising, student information system (SIS) integration, email follow-ups, and reporting.

The platform provides a custom application feature that enables administrators and students to create and manage scholarship applications via transcripts, essay responses, conditional logic guides, letters of recommendation (LOR), and short answer responses. Using AwardSpring’s personalized review function, administrators can create review groups for applicants, hide student responses and add reviewer notes. Additionally, the platform allows administrators to request documents, track student funds and monitor upcoming deadlines through a unified portal.

Pricing is based on monthly or annual subscriptions, and support is extended via email, FAQs, knowledge base, phone, and chat.

The BEST!!!!

In addition to the administrative time AwardSpring has saved me and our scholarship review team, our students love it! This process is so easy for a school that spans 11 counties with one scholarship rep! My job is worlds easier thanks to the AwardSpring platform! The ladies in support are amazing too! I know them by name and there is no waiting on hold nonsense. I can't speak highly enough about this product and the staff!

Pros:

It is difficult to narrow down my favorite thing about AwardSpring, but if I have to only choose one it is definitely the administrative time is has saved me! From setting up scholarships, to helping applicants through the process, to reviewing applications, to awarding and receiving thank-you notes, the process is seamless and easy! Definitely well worth the money!

Cons:

My least favorite thing is that sometimes it takes a while for the things on my wish list to be implemented, but there is a wish list! That in itself is awesome! The staff and developers look at the wish list and try to implement the items you suggest!

Great value for the price and amazing customer service!

I am very happy with AwardSpring. Their customer service is so quick to respond and their training was incredibly thorough. It makes our scholarship process a lot easier!

This software is very easy to use and made our scholarship process much more streamlined. We went from a paper application to AwardSpring and saw an increase in applicants as well as were able to easily track both students applications and the scholarships awarded. It is customizable to our needs and the team works with you to make sure it is working the way you'd like.

Cons:

It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles as some other scholarship software has, but also is MUCH less expensive than other scholarship software products.

Reasons for choosing AwardSpring

We were going from a paper application to online; AwardSpring seemed to be the most user-friendly and offer everything we needed at the lowest cost.

Good, not great

The customer service is great. I'm almost always able to speak with someone when I call rather than having to wait or receive a call back. I think the price reflects the quality of the platform.

The platform has a nice user interface for the applicant. It's fairly easy to create and edit applications.

Cons:

You can't have more than one cycle open at once. The list of canned reports is small and custom reports take several days. There is no easy way to see applicants who are working on applications.

Love AwardSpring for Scholarship Processing

Overall, AwardSpring is a great scholarship management platform. It allows us to efficiently manage all of our different scholarships and gives our applicants the convenience of filling out an easy online application.

I really enjoy using AwardSpring. I manage over 100 scholarships with different criteria for a community college foundation and this software helps me do that in a quick and efficient manner. Their customer service is easily accessible and responsive! There are no long hold times or annoying automated systems that send you around and around.

Cons:

It would be nice if I would able to create my own customized reports. To do this now, I must call AwardSpring and request the report. I also wish I could easily search and email the individuals who have been listed for a letter of recommendation. There is no easy way to see how many letters are outstanding.

Reasons for switching to AwardSpring

Our foundation was growing and ScholarSelect no longer fulfilled our needs.

With AwardSpring Our Program Has Grown

I've been very pleased with AwardSpring. Many of our early suggestions for product improvements have been implemented by the staff, and we always get prompt answers to any questions that arise. The initial set up took some time, but every subsequent year the ramp-up work is minimized because of the ease of using the system. We now focus on developing more scholarships for students, rather than admiistering them.

Since switching from a manual system to AwardSpring, we have changed our focus from administration to development. Now entering our fourth season, our community-based program has grown from $70,000 in scholarships to $160,000 expected in this coming year. Students love it because they need only complete one application to apply for many of our scholarships.

Cons:

The "award" stage requires a few steps, and it is easy to forget them, year to year. Perhaps a prompt to take you to the next action item would help.

Good to Work With

When we started our service with AwardSpring, as mentioned, the implementation process took longer than expected and there were hiccups along the way. I think in the years that have followed, the company has made strides in creating new updates to fix issues/bugs and their customer service team is always ready with quick, effective assistance.

Ease of having reviewers judge the applicants and the fully customization for the scoring sheets. Easily copying one set of scholarships to the next cycle. Impersonating users. The ability to sort the applicants in the award and deny screen. Ability to see which students have been awarded when looking at all scholarships. I've been extremely happy with the customer service. Very quick response and assistance.

Cons:

The process to implement was longer than expected. You cannot overlap award cycles. No real record of what emails have been sent. List of scholarships disappears if they are not in that award cycle. Sometimes it's tough to see all of the information on the award and deny screen with the different scrolling options.

More Than Doubled Applicants

Overall AwardSpring has been a very positive experience, the first year we started with AwardSpring we saw a more than doubling of the number of applicants to our scholarship coming from a paper application. There are no major issues with the product at all and the tech support is very responsive to questions asked while also taking feature requests. We have recommended AwardSpring to several other organizations who have also had just as positive experiences.

AwardSpring is a very easy to use software that allows for any type of question an organization might wish to ask their applicants to be asked easily with defined criteria. It makes the students lives easier with being able to see their applications, continuing at any point. We are able to retrieve data fairly easily and generally customize the application almost however we wish.

Cons:

There are a few deficiencies with the product, namely there is no ability to do custom reporting, you cannot update a list of options after making them (e.g. Q3 has options A, B, & C, later on you want to add D, you cannot without deleting and recreating the question), and all scholarships must share the same application base, that is without making things conditional if you have 2 or more scholarships, they share the same questions, which is irritating if you have very different scholarships.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!

I am to provide real time information, monitor the review process and the entire process is paperless and all online makes life so much easier than what we had been using before. The customer service is by far the ABSOLUTE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! It's like you're talking to a friend that will do everything possible to assist you.

It's easy once you get it all set up, but I have a few scholarships that are a bit tricky but Award Spring walked me through it. It's sometimes hard to delete/add a question.

It's easy

There are some great advantages for the students--ability to apply anywhere, anytime they have internet access. Fabulous that the application is saved as they go. Customer service was stellar throughout our first year experience. The initial set up was time consuming, but well worth it. For the most part, reviewers liked the process. The biggest challenge was setting up scorecards and getting reviewers to complete in a timely manner.

That it centralizes the scholarship application, review and selection process.

Cons:

There is no automatic notification to the students when a reference letter is posted to their application. And no automatic way to let them know that reference letters are missing.
