    Covetrus Ascend from a medium sized, family owned Australian Vet clinic.

    It's generally been very good. Easy to use and reliable. Faults are mostly rectified quickly. Communicating with clients electronically (by SMS or emails) is a breeze and saves a lot of time (less phone calls needed). The new Vetanalytics function is still in development but looks promising.

    Pros:
    I like that it's cloud based and can be accessed from the web from any device including smartphones. Cloud based means that it mostly takes the worry of cyber security and data storage away from Vet practice owners, so we can focus on treating animals no IT management!
    Cons:
    I think the invoicing platform is a little clunky and takes much longer than it should. There are many improvements which could be made to make the process more streamlined especially when editing invoices.

    Reasons for switching to Covetrus Ascend

    We switch to Ascend because it is cloud based which we feel is more secure from a cybersecurity point of view and also makes it more accessible when away from the practice.

    Overall, they are a fantastic team to deal with, no matter who you speak to. The interface is very user friendly and picked up quickly by new users making inductions very smooth. I love to see the new features they introduce.

    The Ascend team are frequently turning out new updates, developing ease of use and great features. We've never had any trouble getting in touch with the support team, with all of them being very helpful. The integration process was smooth and the 24 hour support during transition was incredible.
    Cons:
    There are some lack of features which one would assume to be basic for a PMS system, with lacking reporting abilities which is impacting the clinics R&D.

    Panacea was an new however appeared outdated software. The support team where impossible to get a hold of.

    Easy to use from anywhere

    Set-up and transition to Ascend was calm. We didn't have to alter our normal schedule at all. We can work in Ascend from any device anywhere which means we can see the workflow remotely or from an iPad in clinic to allow us to move with the patient. The features in Ascend allow us to do most tasks from there rather than moving to 3rd party platforms. We have Idexx laboratories (in-house and reference), VetScan laboratories (in-house), GapOnly pet insurance, PawsApp online booking, VetCheck online forms/handouts and MessageHub bi-directional SMS all integrated to work within Ascend.

    New practice, New team, New PMS

    The purchase and set up was daunting, however the Ascend team worked with us so well, allowing us to work at our speed and personlise the system to our practice. As a referral centre there are some functions we don't require. The team picked things up quickly and the Vetcheck integration is brilliant, its saved us so much time and allowed up to become much more efficient at day to day tasks and communication with our clients.

    The interface is modern and bright, different to anything I've used before. The system is intuitive, we opened a new practice with a new team and choosing a new PMS was risky. Something else to learn! We are all coping really well and everyone has picked up how to use the system quickly. we are still learning as there are so much functions. one function which is not really necessary but really cool is that we upload patient photos to their accounts, so we know exactly who is who!
    Cons:
    The thought of not knowing how to use the PMS was worrying. its a very important part of running a successful practice. Having some functions within ascend manager is frustrating, however I understand the Ascend team are working hard to make everything available in ascend.

    This was a new practice and we did think about sticking to what we knew, but we are glad we pushed ourself out out comfort zone and made the jump to Ascend.

    3 years on and still loving it!

    Fantastic. Overall they are very helpful. They are always open to suggestions about new integrations, how things can be done differently/better - very aware that every clinic functions just that little bit differently to each other, and try to find ways to accommodate that.

    It streamlines our front of house and back of house workflows in separate ways that make our day so much easier! Communicating with the team and also with our clients is so simple. I am loving all of the integrations that have occurred since its creation - and there are so many! (we were the OG beta clinic and haven't stopped singing it's praises yet!)
    Cons:
    The support team is a bit slower in response than they used to be, presumably because of the larger client base. If you log an issue or question through their support portal on Ascend, you often have to follow this up with a phone call to get someone to look at it.

    - User friendly - Great 'work flow' - Saves your notes without having to press SAVE! - Activity tab is great to see the whole patient picture
    Cons:
    - Ascend manager is very clunky There isn't a lot i dislike about Ascend. I think if anything all the parts of Ascend that i don't like will be improved as the software grows.

    Very user friendly, just like browsing a mobile friendly website. Ability to classify patient's behaviours and see a flag/colour is very useful.

    Needs a tab to be able to review all prescriptions for ease of redispensing as well as
