Great Remote Access Tool

5

My experience with TeamViewer has been positive. It is easy to setup, reliable, and secure, making remote access simple and stress free. The connection quality is excellent and features are well thought out.

Pros:
I liked how easy it is to use TeamViewer even with people who are not tech-savy. TeamViewer offers great value for money, helping save time and reduce travel cost. I found easy and quick to share files with TeamViewer compare to the platform I used in the past.
Cons:
TeamViewer is fast and reliable, but mobile phone support is pricey for occasional users. A pay as you go option would make it much more appealing.

Reasons for choosing TeamViewer ONE

I considered AnyDesk, Chrome Remote Desktop, and Splashtop. AnyDesk worked fine but felt less stable and polished compared to TeamViewer. I also felt comfortable with TeamViewer user interface which is kind of easy to use compare to others.

Reasons for switching to TeamViewer ONE

I switched from AnyDesk because I found TeamViewer more stable, with smoother connections and better overall performance.

TeamViewer was the hands down choice for my IT support needs

Experience has been very good especially having worked IT support in northern Montana where driving 75 miles to help a client was just out of the question. Working with the client with my TV was phenomenal

Pros:
The full administrative rights (capability) to manage hosts completely. Connectivity with even slower host internet connections has been great. Customer support with a client's host hundreds of miles away made my job a lot easier. TV's capabilities
Cons:
For me as a small IT person supporting a small number of hosts, the cost having to go to v15.x from my 12 was a bit overwhelming, even with the 2-for-1 rate. A feature that may be impossible I could have used several times is the capability to access a hosts BIOS. Ended having to go to the client's home to resolve issues that required BIOS access.

Pros:
The remote support program looked good while we used it...for many years...but the corporate structure is another thing altogether.
Cons:
Corporate structure. Appears that there has been a change in environment and they are getting desperate...so now they are trying to get more money from everyone. When I told them that this was no consistent with their agreements...they started quoting something. I asked for a copy of what they were supposedly quoting...AND THEY COULD NOT DO IT. I was told that my license was not going to be valid any longer...yet it was a perpetual license which was supposed to be good as long as the product was supported by the OS. They said I could...but internally only...I told them that this would not work for me and if they wanted to change and make it not available any longer that they could just give me a new license. They refused. The cost of the product is absolutely outrageous in comparison to other products. The only reason I was staying with them was because it was good at what it did...BUT...their new changes required me to pay $1000's of dollars more to continue to use. Try working with their support...they simply stand behind their statements even though they can provide no documentation, etc to support their position....yet I could provide documentation showing where I was coming from....hhhhmmmm...go figure. TERRIBLE COMPANY...go elsewhere.

Reasons for choosing TeamViewer ONE

It worked good for what we needed and worked without issue of network firewalls, etc.

Reasons for switching to TeamViewer ONE

This was a long time ago...like 15 or more years ago...was using PC Anywhere but Teamviewer offered things that could not be done with that product so we switched. Very happy until the latest culture of the company changed.

Vendor Response

Hello Curt, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. It’s clear this situation has been incredibly frustrating, especially after being a long‑term user. We understand how important clarity, consistency, and transparent communication are in licensing and support, and we are really sorry to hear that your recent interactions left you feeling unheard. Your feedback about license expectations, documentation, and pricing changes is valuable, and situations like this shouldn’t feel confusing or unsupported. Be sure that your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we will make sure it reaches the right team. Best Regards, Valeria/TeamViewer

Still love it...

I've been with TV from their beginning and i loved it. Until they started to pack in it as many features as they could think about. It was a sleek, reliable tool, sitting in the corner somewhere and let me to connect with any resource just by double click on the name. IF (And it is a very big IF) I needed any details, i could call them up through 'Properties' Now it is a huge monster half-screen size with tons of unneeded information, icons and whatnot. To connect with something you need to go through the whole series of clicks and manipulations. I'm not even talking about totally unfamiliar look which you really need to learn. It seems all companies compete in changing their interfaces and poor users have to waste their time for learning a new interfaces of this program and that program instead of simply continue to work. And attempts to pack in a 1000 of features into one program is disastrous. Giving you a free idea - make a 'Light' version, just for remote control, as the initial version was - it will be sold by a landslide, I'll be the first in line. Not that I expect you to do that :)

Pros:
There are many good things to be said about TV. I am with TV since their very first versions and it says something about its quality, given it never has been on cheap side. I don't have to think about what to install - i always install a full client. This allows me to log in to ANY computer with full client and work as from your own computer, all resources available, familiar workspace. Means I can go to any location, find spare machine, log in and access any server or workstation/laptop. Gives me an unmatched freedom and makes my life as an IT manager and life of my admins so much easier. Also, Teamviewer is extremely reliable and connects through any firewalls with ease.
Cons:
Interface. The very first interface was slim, simple, logical and easy to use. Took a little from screen space, could be moved somewhere in the corner. Double click connected you to any machine. Now it is heavy and huge monster with no logic whatsoever. Hard to navigate. Tons of unneeded details. To do a simple thing requires to navigate to it through a pile of totally nonsensical icons and even after that you need to specifically choose what to do instead of simple double click on the name of the resource. Chat window, taking a quarter of the screen? Seriously? I need chat only to ask a few quick questions; it is not my main area where my work is. I seriously consider looking for alternative, especially having in mind that TV is very heavy priced, it is becoming a burden for our midsize business.

Reasons for choosing TeamViewer ONE

Exceptional ease of use (initially), reliability, and a habit - I've been using it from their first versions.

Vendor Response

Hello Serguei, Thank you for your honest feedback and for taking the time to detail your experience. Regarding your comment about the new interface, ease of use is critical, and your insights on interface complexity and pricing will help us guide improvements. TeamViewer > RDP.

TeamViewer is a great alternative to RDP. It provides quick and simple access regardless of operating system. It has all the features you need, and the end to end encryption is impressive. If your company already has RDP, you will need to convince them that TeamViewer is worth the extra spend, which if you supporting other operating systems, it certainly is.

Pros:
TeamViewer is easy to use, secure and it works across different platforms - Windows, Mac, Linux and even Android. Features like file transfer, chat and session recording make it a powerful tool for remote access. There is a free version for non commercial use.
Cons:
Seems slower and less responsive than Remote Desktop, especially on slow connections. If you use Windows, TeamViewer is an extra expense over the included free RDP.

Vendor Response

Hello Darren, Thanks so much for sharing such a balanced and thoughtful review! It's great to hear that TeamViewer’s ease of use, cross‑platform compatibility, and features like file transfer, chat, session recording, and end‑to‑end encryption really stand out for you, especially with the flexibility to connect across Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. Every environment has its own needs; that´s a fact. However, when experiencing slow connections, we recommend ensuring that both devices are running the latest version of TeamViewer, which can be downloaded from our official website. If the software is up to date, restarting both devices and, if possible, rebooting the WiFi router may help resolve the issue. Hoping these tips will help in future connections, we wish you all the best, Valeria/TeamViewer

Regarding the rare connection drops during persistent access: that definitely shouldn’t happen often, and we appreciate you pointing it out.
