Great product and incredible staff

Pros:

The availability of the staff and the reactivity by email or on slack. It's crazy how fast you get a reaction and solutions on your problems. A good point is also the many (small) important updates. You feel like Supernova is a living product with real passionate people working on it.

Cons:

I feel like it can be a little expensive for small teams but the quality of the product and the support does lighten this issue.

Not just a documentation tool but a Design System Management tool !

Pros:

I really liked the Design system management tools, like Components, Tokens and Assets. The other thing that is really powerfull is that it's a dev centric tool, it's not just only about the graphic elements, but about object that could be set by design and used by devs on the final product with automations.

Cons:

Early stage product, so a lot of features are missing or are not delightfull yet. But I feel that it is going to come soon !

Design system mangement tool as object and the fact to really take development into account with more than just embeding storybook

Reasons for switching to Supernova

The lack of feature evolution from Zeroheight (especially on the token side) and the evolution of pricing which is not fair

6+ months on Supernova

Adoption to our DS is already there but further knowledge of how to use it was lacking. Supernova has massively helped here to allow the wider org to understand the value of our design system and its importance to the org.

Pros:

I've had experience using other similar products in the past but was introduced to Supernova as it had already been semi-adopted by our team. Its ease of use and integration with supporting design/eng applications is great. The product is generally well stocked with good features which are being improved regularly and updates to the broader management side super useful.

Cons:

I find it limiting in customisation with regards to making it more bespoke to our brand. The custom CSS implementing could be more user-friendly for people with less understanding of it usage.Although the preview feature is great, I would ideally like to hide WIP pages which you currently can not do, or at least apply a badge to pages to indicate their in progress stage. Customising header tabs as homepages without having to create an additional 'home" page would be ideal too.

Fast moving product with a forward thinking team

The great sales staff that answered our questions pre-sales and dealt with our very tedious procurement process. Our onboarding was easy as we were able to tailor the sessions to meet our needs too. The team are always quick to offer support on Discord too.

Pros:

If you love Figma's approach to fast, iterative development you will love Supernova. Their team is engaging in feedback, their discord channel, and even asking to rate future features. Aside from that, the product is easy to set up and use. If you can use Notion then all the other extras have about a day of learning.

Cons:

It would be good to have storage space in your account to share digital assets and documentation, e.g. media packs or logo files.

Reasons for choosing Supernova

I evaluated a number of similar tools and we opted for Supernova because their team was experienced and engaged in helping build design systems. They know their clients are designers/developers and really get involved in gaining feedback. Finally, they are continually iterating the product to make it better for their users.

Design pipeline automation

Pros:

This is the tool to use to help push your engineering and design teams togethers. As far as I'm aware, fully automating design changes in figma all the way to deployment is cutting edge and either done through a fully custom build pipeline or via Supernova.

Cons:

Integration could be dicey due to how young the product is, the upside is that most things are open-source so changes are welcome.

Mainly for the mobile support.
