Always carry a Compass

We've had a positive experience in the first year using Federal Compass. They are easy to work with and have built a compelling database that can be one of the top tools in any BD Executive or Market Researcher's toolbox. They're very concerned with customer feedback, and have demonstrated that through multiple engagements that offered us the opportunity to voice our opinions on their products. Federal Compass doesn't claim to be the only tool necessary to support a BD organization, and they offer attractive pricing packages that don't constrain our firm's budget or otherwise limit our ability to purchase additional tools.

Pros:

Customization of the data to my company's addressable market. The ability to view data at a macro level, then drill down into specific sub-sets of the same data set to see program details, all without needing to run separate searches in different modules. Customer support is also top notch, our account rep is not only very responsive and easy to work with, they're also knowledgeable on the GovCon market.

Cons:

While graphs/visuals are a positive, I often wish there were more options for different styles of graphs (ex. Bar vs. Pie) for some of the custom data pulls. Would love the ability to see program lineage (incumbent details, prior program structure, etc.)

My experience with Federal Compass has been outstanding. Someone is always there to answer questions, take feedback, help with training, and help me with my account. I can pick up the phone and know that someone will help me right away, even if it's in setting up a report or query on the spot!

Pros:

I have used several other paid federal databases, and this is my favorite. The user interface is intuitive and clean, it's super easy to set up reports and pipelines, and the training is top notch. I use this system as my main source of information when researching opportunities, competition, federal funding, potential teaming partners, and more. As a small business, I love that I have a CRM built into this system that allows me to track and follow opportunities. The Federal Compass team has thought of everything.

Cons:

I would love to be able to export custom reports with a "notes" field.

Aside from Federal Compass being a superior product for the price, I really enjoy working with the team at Federal Compass. They are doing big things and bringing an incredible product to market that is affordable, robust, and intuitive.

Great overall customer experience, seeking improved user experience

Federal Compass has the best customer service. They are responsive to needs and reach out routinely for meetings with their client representatives. I enjoy the daily opportunity updates. They have provided me insight on opportunities that I was not tracking.

A Swiss Army Knife for federal contractors.

Upslope Advisors is a rapidly growing company, and we need a configurable, reliable, reasonably priced Business Development solution. Federal Compass is that solution for us.

Cons:

When we first started with Federal Compass, it was a bit overwhelming. There was a lot of information to internalize and it was a bit overwhelming.

Reasons for switching to Federal Compass

Everything that can be done within GovWin can be done inside of Federal Compass and comes at a fraction of the cost and with more robust analytics. Other systems do low-level business development and capture, but Federal Compass is really a Swiss Army Knife for federal contractors. Their solution has been eye-opening and critical to our team’s success since its implementation.

I like the CRM and pipeline reporting tools the most.

Cons:

Some opportunities come with multiple Solicitation numbers and are a little hard to group together.

The customer service, data visualization and customization surpasses the competition. This is definitely a valuable tool for a small business like ours. Our other partners with GovWin are impressed with the notifications we receive and we pay a fraction of the price.

There have been a few glitches with our integration with Hubspot and not able to get a complete

The walk through was very informative and helpful. I enjoyed navigating the different Solicitations. Being able to check past performance and past Contract Awards. The ability to partner with various Government Contracters.

The information that is included, ability to conduct important analysis on federal market, competitors, Agency buying habits, trends

Cons:

I believe FC should offer limited consulting services to get companies set up. The training and support are good, but for smaller companies with limited time to spare sometimes the labor effort of getting things set up to provide regular intel can be extensive. I would happily pay some consulting fees to have someone get things all set up where I need them to be. I understand the need to learn the system but again small business owners are pressed for time.
